Sport - I was thinking that you were NOT one of five girls. My parents had three and although they really wanted a boy they didn't want to chance having another girl; can't say that I blame them.

luckycharm 04-15-2009 09:05 PM

Sport - My brother and his wife have 5 boys. funny how that works sometimes.

maryshady 04-16-2009 07:12 AM

Lucky- I am guessing your boys did not clean the house for you. Reason being... I have children too! lol!!!

me4life 04-16-2009 07:24 AM

1. i was in the navy for a month when i was 18

CruiseCAT 04-16-2009 07:35 AM

Lucky - I'm with Mary, I don't think the kids cleaned the house.

Me - I'm thinking you are not one of seven.

I'm getting REALLY frustrated with the scales. I have been in the 150's since March 3rd and in the last two weeks the scales have been teasing me with being in the 140's. I've hit 150.2 twice but then the scales go up the next day. I didn't even get my whoosh with TOM.

I don't consider this a plateau but here is a new QOTD. What do you consider a plateau and how do you deal with it?

For me a plateau is losing the same 2-3 lbs. for at least four weeks. In the past when I have hit what I consider a plateau I would eat less and that never worked and then when I started eating right again I gained and then I would be back to my old bad habits in a matter of days. This time because I have made a life style change I am going to just keep doing what I have been doing; eat less (I'm still eating about 1400-1500 calories) and move more.

Hmmm... might I recommend checking out Jillian Michaels' new book? It's all about how hormones play a critical part of our weight loss. Also, are you eating a lot of artificial foods or foods with artificial sweetners in them?

I'm having a more difficult time myself, but I'm still keeping my calories between 1200 to 1300 calories and 1400 to 1500 calories on my high cal days. I'm dealing with more of a hungry all the time thing which sucks. But, I'm trying to incorporate Jillian's suggestions from her new book into my lifestyle, so we'll see how that goes.

Quickie post - I'm still hanging in here, but I'm covering for a co-worker who is off the next 2 weeks, so I 'm busy.

Easter binge made my weight go waaay up, so I'm working on returning to my previous weight.

luckycharm 04-16-2009 10:47 AM

Good Morning Everyone.

Dixie  Now that Easter is over, we can get back to your little black dress challenge.

Shannon is her book worth getting?

Me - I don't think you have 2 grandkids.

Mary and Cindy - I didn't have to look for a snake. The boys did actually clean, but only because I was sick and DS wanted his girlfriend to come over.

Cindy I have been thinking about your question. I haven't hit a plateau yet, but what will I have to do when I hit one. On my treadmill, you put in your weight and it shows you how many calories you burn. One day I was working out on my daughters weight, and I was amazed at how few calories it burned so I have been thinking that I am going to have to get some ankle and wrist weights and work out with them on.

Ok hope that you all have a great day. I am off to the treadmill. Gotta go and try and catch Dixie's time.

Thankyou all for your positive attitudes. It seems to have given me back my motivation. :)

Are you walking or running? I would increase my speed before I strapped on the weights, if you're walking. Or you could do intervals, the studies show that intervals burn more calories, but your treadmill wouldn't show that.

luckycharm 04-16-2009 12:39 PM

Dixie I am stuck on week 3 of c25k. I do the walking at 4 mph and jogging at 5 mph. What was I thinking when I thought that it would actually get easier? I will actually sometime complete it though.

After I finished C25K I was running on M-W-F and then doing interval sprints or incline walks three days a week. But when Hogan ate my power cord and I didn't use the treadmill for a couple weeks I lost much of my stamina and currently I am building that back.

I know the scales are not moving because I have not been exercising and I have been eating the same 1400-1500 since day one, when I was 186. I really do not want to lower my calories at this point and will just be patient while I get back into a routine.

I finally back down after my Easter weekend fiasco. I would really like to drop another pound by Monday, and I think I can do it. I've only been calorie cycling for 3 1/2 days, but it really seems to be working well for me. :D

me4life 04-16-2009 01:42 PM
