We Are Family - Red Team Chat #6

Morning Red Team

I'm with Mindy - very quiet around here lately. Let's put on our rally caps (red of course) and get the excitement back to this challenge.

Anybody eating anything new these days? I have a couple of new recipes I'm looking at trying:
1. Chicken Delicious
2. Chicken with sweet potatoes and garlic
both sound wonderful to me. DH is gone tonight - he doesn't eat sweet potatoes so maybe that would be the good choice for me tonight.

As always.................

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs,
Carol

Happy Friday Girls!

This weekend is going to be a bit harder then usual, as my 14yo sister Amanda and I are going to visit my 20yo sister Angie at her college. We'll be hanging out with her friends, going to a movie, and seeing the game, so I know there is going to be lots of soda, chips, etc, that I don't need to be eating. I'm going to insist on doing my exercise while we are there, but I don't know how the food will go. Hopefully I'll have good behavior to report back!

Monte, can you buy diet soda and bottled water to carry along and have for get together? You could contribute low fat popcorn and veggie sticks for munching, too. At the movies, red vines are a lower cal treat, tho have a lot of sugar. And popcorn, without butter is a healthy and lo cal munch for the movie. :D Have fun and if you do decide to indulge, you have skillz and will be able to pop right back on track and continue your progress. :D

Hey everyone. I had a good day, yesterday. Stayed on track and drank a bit more water than usual. I am hoping for a good number, come Monday morning.

I think my wrists are getting thinner. :D

Wow up to Chat #6 already huh? That's awesome.

Well I am starting off my week doing pretty well. I had a loss of 3.6 this week. Yesterday I went over on my points because of lunch. I swear trying to eat healthy out is crazy. I thought I was making a good choice by getting a salad at Dairy Queen come to find out that my lunch ended up being 22 pts alone. I'm like hello I could have had a double cheese burger for the same thing. Gets on my nerves.

Speaking of recipes, I am thinking of making mini pizzas this weekend. I was going to use turkey pepperoni, light cheese, sauce, and english muffins. I thought that would be a simple little lunch or something. Probably not that many points either.

Thanks for the encouragement. :) It is more of a mental thing than a stomach thing, if you know what I mean. I don't even like reg sodas, popcorn, and junk (etc chips, my biggest weakness), so I won't be that tempted, but I don't want to totally stick out like a sore thumb. I'm already an introvert (though not shy) so get-togethers make me nervous, plus I was never into the whole "college" thing, and I don't want to embarrass my sister by coming of as stuck-up. I am planning on bringing some coke zero and sun chips with me as ballast.

cakses 11-14-2008 11:53 AM

Happy Friday. I am still stuck at 184. Had a off plan dinner though so no surprise. Have to work 9-1 so I am off to get ready and get out of here after DS gets on the bus! Have a good day everyone!

retiredone 11-14-2008 12:30 PM

Good morning RED TEAM members. I had such a busy day yesterday. I was getting ready for my Thursday night cooking demo and I was trying to get to the stores to buy a new bra. Well, the bra buying turned into a disaster. I need about a full day to go by myself and try on about 100 bras until I can find one or two that actually fit well. I only got to try on one and that didn't fit...sigh...so I'm stuck with my too big bras for the time being until I can finally get a new one. I might have to wait until Christmas when mom will be with my sister and we'll be at DS's for a few days. I'll have time to look then but the stores will be packed with people at that time. Maybe I'll take up sewing and sew a bra.

Well, the weekend is upon us again. I've had a good week except for last Saturday night after I'd weighed in. Had a feeding frenzy of mac and cheese and nachos and cheese. But other than that I've been on plan. Hoping for another pound tomorrow morning. I can't believe I'm almost in the 130s.

DH called me skinny this morning so I turned around and pulled my clothes tight around my stomach. That takes all illusions of skinny out of the equation. Does stomach fat ever disappear? I'm going to find out, I can guarantee that. Just ask me around March or April.

I'm with you Carol. We need to get re-excited about our Biggest Loser challenge. Only a few more weeks left and we need the momentum to keep us on track and excited about the outcome (team and individual) of our hard work.

Rain Dancer, my wrists are really small and now they are tiny. My watch just spins around when I'm running.

blueyedlvrgirl 11-14-2008 12:53 PM

Hey fellow Reds!
Sorry I haven't been around! Moving, school, work, home stuff have all gotten in the way of posting. I did finally see a number that started with 27 instead of 28 this morning!!! I have been trying not to neglect my weight loss. Naturally the stress is taking away some of my appetite and walking seems to help relieve some stress, so I do have those things going for me. I will tryto be here more! I am reporting a 1.2 lb loss, I am happy with that considering the circumstances!

I hope all of you are doing well!!!

Bye for now...
~Misty

Boy, do I ever... :D

Sun Chips and diet soda sounds good. MMmmmm.... Sun Chips.... :D

Retire, spinning around on your wrist, huh? Sounds good. :D

Good evening, everyone. I am going to end this day a little high, calorie-wise. Not a real binge or anything. But not exactly ideal, either. :frypan: I am still within "loss" limits for my height and weight...

pippy90505 11-14-2008 08:44 PM

hey cakses I joined this is great truly great. thanks again cynthia

mtiger 11-14-2008 09:36 PM

I was reading post on the old thread thinking nobody had posted. Then I realized there was a new thread. We certainly go through the pages. Well since I hit my low of 199.4, I have gained 3 TOM pounds and have currently lost 2.5 of them. I am hoping that this next week will be good. I look forward to getting back under 200 and staying there.

ggirls- I am looking forward to trying out some low cal recipes at Thanksgiving.

Monte- Have fun!!

Rain- I notice it with my rings. they just spin.

Aaron- Good loss. :smug:

Cakses- 184 is good. Be happy. :^:

Retire- Bras!! GGGRRR!!!! I am hoping to do my part this week. Week after TOM is usually a good loss.

Blue- Lots on your plate. Good job staying on track.

Check with you all tomorrow.

mtiger 11-14-2008 09:41 PM

I forgot to report on Shred Level 2. I did it yesterday and realized I have done it before. My DD joined me and I kicked her butt. Yep, it's hard, but I did good. I also jogged a mile. Since I lost 2 pounds today, I thought a repeat was in order.

Just a quick drop in to say Good Morning. I hope you are all having a great weekend. :D

Back on track for me, today. I can't believe yesterday. It wasn't a disaster, but not great, either. :o I think I will see a halfway decent number on my scale, come Monday, tho. :smug:

Kelleigh 11-15-2008 12:14 PM

Hello everyone. Sorry I haven't posted much. Work was a little crazy this week and both of my kids are playing winter sports with (of course!) two totally different schedules. I have fallen back into taking care of everyone but me. Even DH, my Mom and my sisters have needed me a lot lately and when I finally do have some extra time I'm using it for the laundry or cleaning or sometimes just sitting and trying to chill out. :(

Rain Dancer Hope you're having a good weekend too.

mtiger Reading from you all doing The Shred makes me want to check into it. Can you get it at Walmart? Those TOM pounds will go quickly and you'll be firmly below 200 in no time.

Misty Yea! 1.2 loss! Way to go!

retiredone Almost in the 130's-AWESOME!

cakses Hang in there. Very soon you'll see those 170's.

MonteCristo Hope you have a nice visit with your sisters.

Aaronsgirl WOW 3.6 loss Way to go!

Hi Mel!

Carol I really do need to put on my rally cap. What's chicken delicious?

Even though I haven't been posting much I have kept up with the reading of posts. I think I read where someone had gotten Jillian's Wii game. How is it?

mtiger 11-15-2008 03:23 PM

Just a quick stop to report the number on the scale today. 199.2. I need to keep going to get as far away from 200 as possible.

cakses 11-15-2008 03:33 PM

STILL 184. I'm getting slightly frustrated. Going on a run or swim after work no matter what! Grrr.....

retiredone 11-15-2008 06:13 PM

Hello all. Lost half a pound this week.

Mtiger, you've landed in Onederland. Good for you. We know you'll never look back.

What is it about macaroni and cheese? That rich gooey cheese and sauce dripping in cheese fat and crunchy bits on the top...drool... My friend came for lunch today and she asked me to make mac and cheese as it's her favorite. Her favorite??? It's more than my favorite. I'd almost kill for it. Needless to say I've had more than my fair share today and I'm sitting here bloated with the marvelous stuff.

I didn't get in my exercise yesterday as I was just busy and got bogged down doing work. I was going to try and do it today as this is my rest day. You know just change around the days but now I'm too full. Maybe in an hour or so but I'm really sleepy tonight for some reason. (Stomach full, eyes sleepy. See the connection?) Anyway this is the first scheduled exercise day I've missed since we started the exercise challenges so they are really good to keep me on track.

Still no new bra. I have only one that fits me so I guess it'll be wear and wash for a while.

Have a good day and stay away from macaroni and cheese or whatever sets your salivary glands to drooling.

joylove26 11-15-2008 07:32 PM

I'm doing good today...went for a good long walk. I'm going out tonite but not going off track though. At least I hope not.

Have a good nite ladies.

Hi Peeps - where did Saturday go? I've been busy around here - baths for both dogs before I went to swim - the silly lab loves the water and also the bathtub but only on her terms. I must have lifted her back into the tub a dozen times - all 100 pounds of her. I was able to get both of them nice and soft - we'll see how long that lasts. I was even able to get some new pics of them in their holiday collars (attached). Gracie is the yellow lab and Gypsy is a labradoodle.

Each year we replace the pictures on our "Fun Wall" which are all 4 walls of the bathroom closest to the pool. I printed and replaced 119 pictures in frames today. Now I just have to get used to different people staring at me. It was a fun chore - it is also a big chore - had to get it out of the way before Thanksgiving.

I've been feeling some mixed emotions between the land and water exercises - maybe like I don't push myself enough on land. After water class today I spoke with my trainer about my concerns basically telling her I sometimes feel like I "give up" on land. She said she's never seen me give up but what she sees is I go as far as I can then do 2 more. It was the boost of confidence I need to continue the strength training.

I've got that "I want to bottle this feeling" going on right now. I love it when that happens.

Move your bodies, drink your water and SMILE.

Hugs to all,
Carol

ggirls- Cute puppies!! I need to put a pic of mine.

Morning Red Team~
I finally hobbled over to the computer to post my weigh in. Stayed the same this week. Course I've not done anything since I hurt my foot. Put on tennis shoes yesterday and needless to say they didn't stay on long. The brusing is fading some. So I'm not sure when I'll be able to workout, hopefully sometime next week. I do do lower and upper body stuff, but nothing getting my heartrate up like walking does. I hope everyone has a fantastic weigh in!!
LETS GO RED!!!!!:carrot:

Rain Dancer 11-16-2008 12:37 PM

Carol, your doggies are adorable. I had no idea that labradoodles are such cute dogs.:D

Cats, your poor toe. Yes, it is probably a bit too soon for shoes. Have you tried marching in place barefoot? I was able to do that shortly after I broke my baby toe. It may be something you can do until you can get back into your shoes and walk, again. :smug:

Hello and Good Sunday Morning, Reds. I hope everyone is having a great weekend. :D

I was tempted to hop on my scale today, rather than tomorrow, but I decided to wait... Give it one more day. :D

cakses 11-16-2008 02:29 PM

Good Morning Red Team. Where the heck is everyone??? Weird that it got so quiet around here.

Still 184 but I ate OP for breakfast and I am headed out for a subdivision run in a little bit. Already have lunch planned out and dinner will most definitely be OP as well since DH will be gone tonight. So I should be able to see 183 again by tomorrow at least I hope so! I am getting frustrated. Just gotta hang in there I suppose.

retiredone 11-16-2008 02:49 PM

I just lost my post!!! I hate when that happens.

I'm here but I'm not too bright eyed or bushy tailed. I was just saying how I don't want to do anything but vegetate on the couch. So I certainly don't want to re-post. Gotta get up and at 'em and try and get in some exercise.

Cakses, hang in there and you will definitely see those scales move downward. But I feel your frustration.

Rain Dancer, you sound much more chipper than I feel. Hope you have a good showing on the scales tomorrow.

Cathy, hope your toe is on the mend. You don't how much you need toes until you hurt one.

Carol, the dogs are adorable. My niece has a Cockapoo and he's a cutie.

Must get dressed. Almost suppertime and I'm still in a nightgown. (Shame is not one of my virtues.) If I get my exercise togs on maybe, just maybe I'll do something. (Slowly sliding off the couch and thinking about life.)

Kelleigh 11-16-2008 06:16 PM

Today, for the first time in a very long while, I exercised!

Both kids had games today. Always laundry to do. Always something to clean. Blah, blah, blah. I know you all know what I mean. But I made a point to lay out my workout clothes and then I just did it. 30 minutes on the tm. I feel so much better already.

Hope everyone has had a wonderful weekend.

dkneec19 11-16-2008 08:29 PM

I all! I apologize for contributing to the quietness. I don't know where I've been.

Well today I know. I've been bingeing. I don't know why...I mean I do know..and I don't know. Just confused and frustrated.

I've been feeling alone lately. I've been single for about 2 years now. I don't know why I can't meet people. I have a bunch of guy friends..and maybe thats the problem. I completely adore one of those guy friends but he lives in California, and I am here in mn. ugh ugh.

Just venting.

Hey, so, does anyone have any good recipes that "taste" rich and feel like comfort food? exercising isn't cutting it on the stress relief.

retiredone 11-16-2008 08:58 PM

I got all my exercise done and wonder of wonders I'm much more alive and with it now.

Thick and Rich Fake Milk Shake

1 cup skim milk
1/2 medium banana, frozen
4 soft dates

Blend until smooth. This is nice and thick and tastes like a milk shake to me. You can also add a couple of ice cubes when blending to make it icier. Makes at least 12 ounces and about 175 calories give or take depending on the size of banana and dates. You get almost 2 servings of fruit and a milk serving.

miriam101 11-17-2008 01:50 AM

Hi Reds! Couldn't figure out why no one was posting... duh!!!

I've been having problems staying OP with the eating. Yet - getting back into the groove with exercise.

Congrats to all you great losers this week!

Isabella - yummy - I like to make banana and milk, too. Pseudo ice cream. :)

Primm 11-17-2008 03:18 AM

Evening chickes. I've been offline - sorry! Power has been out for over 24 hours from this. But the batteries in my scale are working!

Woke up this morning to look out the window, and make sure it wasn't raining too much for me to go for a run. It wasn't so I did. But it turned into an obstacle course, trying to stay on my feet in slippery mud, jumping fallen logs and ploughing through water - and that was just on the concrete paths!

Need to clean up some branches in the backyard, and vacuum the floor now that the power is back on.

Cheers!

Ruth

crazy4weightloss 11-17-2008 09:14 AM

I had a good weigh in this week. I hope I can keep it up this week. I really want to lose before the holidays. I am getting a little nervous about all the food I am going to be around.

MonteCristo 11-17-2008 09:27 AM

I'm sad to say that I had to use one of my freebies this week. :o I didn't do too horribly while I was out of town, but I did eat a lot more salt then usual, and I didn't drink any water, so I think the extra pound I picked up is just water weight. It seems like I always get a bit stuck in the middle of each "decade" of weight. 185, 175, now 165. I really wanted to be out of the 160s by Thanksgiving, but I don't see how I'm going to manage it.

We had a good time visiting. We went to see the final homegame of Angie's team. Unfortunately it was absolutely freezing (it took 2 hours to thaw out afterwards) and the team was AWFUL, but we did get to visit and hang out, so it wasn't a total loss. ;)

ETA: I went ahead and posted a new thread for this weeks exercise challenge.

retiredone 11-17-2008 09:58 AM

Awful storm Primm. Glad you were safe.

Well, today is weigh in for everyone. Don't forget to get your weight recorded by this evening.

modcat44 11-17-2008 10:44 AM

getting ready for work so just a quick note--even though we were gone all week-end and not totally OP still lost a little--yaay! Down to 184.4, so I'm happy. Will come back tonight after work and read and reply!

I have the Jillian game, it's much more of a workout if you DONT use the balance board....i havent tried all the workouts (has weight loss, strength training, hill intervals, and one other category, but i can't remember it.
It def gets your heart rate up depending on the workout it gives you, and i'm still getting used to the run between every mini workout. (you run, then do an activity, then you run again, then another activity, and repeats the running and different activities till the time is up - you can choose from 5 minutes up to 45 minutes, maybe longer...can't remember).

Love the pics!! I def understand about picking up a 100# lab in and out of the tub during bath time ;) luckily our girl is only about 70# and she loves the bathtub so there's no jumping in and out. but our 100# boy isnt much for the sprayer in the tub or outside. lol he likes pools and other bodies of water, just not the spraying kind from the waterhose ;)

Sorry i've been MIA. I've been looking for a ball gown to wear to the battalion ball we have to go to next month, and i'm super excited and nervous all at the same time, since this will be my first ball. and want to find a great dress. and my acct 2 class starts next monday...and we're planning for thanksgiving and then trying to make plans for our trip back to GA to see family for christmas break and make everyone happy, which i know from past exxperiences wont happen...but again, we will try our best. lol
well i've had my breakfast, and i'm planning on doing my wii fit workout and some WATP, it's been a while. and maybe pop in the jillian wii game afterwards for a extra workout. i'd love to get out of the 130s before December gets here :)

Back to 185. Too much salt yesterday and I missed my run. Had to go out to get groceries and DH had to leave for curling and I just ran out of time and motivation. Mad at myself but moving onto this week.

I have a military ball THIS Friday so I am going to be hitting the gym hard this week so I don't feel like I just gave up before a big event. I have a dress but it's actually BIG in the chest now, so I am going to have to pin it because I can't afford another dress right now. I want to look nice though so I am going to do all my cardio this week and my weights so I feel good about myself and it shows :)

Work is going to kick my butt this week but I am ready for it. I am coming down with another cold which I attribute to the Y and all the sick kids who come into the pool because I was fine before I worked on Saturday and Sunday. I am hoping it's just a minor thing and blows over by Friday.

Have a great day everyone!

ArmyWife02 11-17-2008 03:47 PM

Our military ball is Dec 4th...and I'm still trying to find the perfect dress for a good price ;) Might try the goodwill shops in town and see what i can find.
i'm so excited since this will be my first one. ;)
good luck and have fun at your ball ;)

retiredone 11-17-2008 05:37 PM

Thank you for posting the new exercise challenge, MonteCristo. They keep me on track.

A military ball sounds fun and you gals already have your Prince Charming so you can dance well into the morning without your carriage turning into a pumpkin.

All my exercise is done for today, supper has been eaten so now I have to take a shower and head out for choir practice. We're getting ready for our Christmas program. Maybe I'll decide to direct the choir very vigorously and get in another workout. :D

Gotta run. My shower is calling to me.
