My spring wardrobe is non-existent and I am way too cheap to pay full price for new clothes :o

Melissa - I have 20 something I will swap for your teenager right now. I'm not very happy with DS2's behavior.

Aaahhh will I ever be able to keep up with this thread??!!! I had a good weight in yesterday, up slightly today but I'm learning not to freak out about the fluctuations. I had to go off plan yesterday because of my lunch out but it actually decreased my calories!! Going kayaking today for 2 hours so should get a good workout in - if my arms don't fall off that is!!

Tina30 05-22-2008 09:33 AM

I dunno...the thread is going pretty darn slow lately. 2 hours of kayaking...my arms would be dead! LOL!! I hope you have a fantastic time!

Okay, remember that job that I interviewed for and impressed them so much that they chose someone else? Well they called yesterday asking if i was still available. So I said yes. However, the pay is only $11.50 an hour (entry level pay stinks!!!) and it is a temp job only till September or mid October. I also have another interview for this morning which is a perm job and higher pay. My HUGE dilemma is that the first company (with the temp job) is a HUGE opportunity. If you can get in the door at this place you could just be set. The corporation owns a vast majority of our town so the opportunities are endless. This other company is a transport company...smaller...but pays more and is permanent! Granted I havent even gotten that job yet but I'm really struggling as to what to do. Do I take the job that pays really terribly but can lead to really amazing opportunities, or do I go for the job that pays what I need!??

shelby897 05-22-2008 10:21 AM

Melissa -- Tough decision -- it depends, what is more imporant in your life right now, job security or do you feel if the lower paying job doesn't work out in October, you could easily find another position? I had the same situation a few years ago -- I interviewed for a position that I thought was great, but they actually told me I was over qualified for -- gave it to someone else and called me later with another job -- after I started working for this "wonderful" company -- I found out it actually stunk and ended up moving on.

I hope the right opportunity brings itself forward to you (sending positive vibes your way!! :D)

Jen415 05-22-2008 10:31 AM

Diva: Awesome girl!!

Melissa: I guess it depends on what you can live with. Can you take lower pay for a "possible" at a permanent position with more money? Or is the money and security more important right now?

It also helps if you have a husband/partner who is secure in his job that can make up for the lack of income you would have if you took the lower paying position.

I'd do a pro/con list and see how it balances out.

Okay, now me: I ate totally off my plan last night, mainly because I couldnt say no out of fear of offending someone. When will I learn that my health is more important than the possibility of hurting someone's feelings??

ArmyWife02 05-22-2008 10:54 AM

ok, i've already updated my tickers, blog, and the beach hop challenge for today's exercise....now i'm gonna go do it :D lol
see you girls in a bit...trying to stick to my fitness for the day, but i end up doing more than planned cuz i get in the groove ;) lol but the neighbors are all going camping this weekend and they started getting ready early, so they arent working out with me today or tomorrow...so it's on me. so will be logging more miles (they rather stick to 3 miles, since they're still getting started)....but i rather do more. i am aiming for only 4 miles today, but may end up doing a 2 or 3 mile dvd also....we'll see ;)

ksk571 05-22-2008 11:57 AM

Hello ladies! I was completely on plan yesterday and am working toward being completely on plan today. I really didn't want to exercise this morning, but I made myself do it. I'm really ready for my 3 day weekend although I am going to be working on the house so I'm going probably going to be tired by the end of it.

Melissa - not sure about the jobs either. I would probably reiterate what has already been said - what are your priorities? and to make a pro/con list.

Cat - I'm glad your work issues are getting better!

Diva - Congrats on the loss!

Tina - Enjoy your long weekend!

agathachristie - Happy belated birthday! :hb: I'm just getting back on track from my birthday related poor food choices. Leave your poor food choices in the past (along with the "guilt" of those choices - if you're anything like me) and move on. You can do it and you'll feel so much better going back to healthy eating!!

Rennie - Enjoy your camping trip! My idea of roughing it is a Holiday Inn without a pool! ;)

Counting - enjoy your sewing projects. I need to drag out my machine to fix a few things. Sorry your plans got changed for you!

Fat Chick B Gone - enjoy kayaking!

 Hi Mandey, Andi, Jen, Shelby, Muse and all of our wonderful RED Team ladies!!

chickichickibangbang 05-22-2008 12:43 PM

Hey All,
I am glad that we are all sticking to this, even during our off weeks. It's all about persistence, not perfection, right?

The Red Team food challenge seems to be a bit beyond me in terms of planning to the last mouthful..I do WW core, and so, I give myself the leeway, to plan, but to add healthy stuff if I am hungry...

That said, even trying to do so has really helped my attention to my food and I have already lost 1.5 pounds this week, which thrills me. I am sure that it is because I am paying better attention..and it helps a lot to be conscious of eating fruits/veggies at every meal..I love that part of the challenge.

I have seen mention of the President's Fitness Test...I tried looking back through the thread but I couldn't find exactly what we are doing with this, or what the activities are...Could someone help me out here and direct me to the info...? Are we doing the PrezFitTest to have a benchmark? Are we redoing it at the end of the BLC? Thanks all!

I can't wait to see our results for this week, we may surprise ourselves yet!

Diva 05-22-2008 01:30 PM

Mel, that's a tough one gf. If it were me I'd take the Higher paying one, the money and security would mean more to me than a lower paying temp job that could "possibly" lead to something. I have found back in the day, that I enjoyed working for the smaller companies than I did the larger ones simply because of the politics involved, but I am sure you'll make the right decision. After all, you know your town and it's businesses better than we do. :)

I just had me a great workout and about to eat my veggies for lunch! Melissa, ty for this latest mini challenge. It's really helped keeping my butt on track, and it's paying off!

MonteCristo 05-22-2008 02:33 PM

Help! I'm getting a little depressed with my *ahem* weightloss. I didn't lose anything last week, and to be brutally honest, this week looks like it might be worse. I've stayed firmly on plan, and have been exercising over 4-6 hours a week. My mom says that I'm just being ridiculous, and that overall I'm doing great. But the $%&* scale just isn't moving. I have seen a little bit of tape measure success, but that just isn't the same. Somebody say something encouraging quick, or I might do something crazy! ;)

The idea behind planning your day is not to plan down to the last mouthful, that would be ludicrous planning your day is simply setting out an idea of what your meals are going to be so that when the time to eat comes you are armed with a game plan instead of just grabbing whatever and possibly making the wrong choices that you could regret later. Making a healthy decision in the face of hunger is very hard for some of us, planning helps that, but I certainly wouldnt ask anyone to plan down to the mouthful.

Here is the link for the presidents challenge fitness test
