Chellez, I would be a nervous wreck as well, it would drive me insane all day, those things make me so nervous. Just stay out of the kitchen...I think most cops are willing to do the right thing and fix a mistake...especially one that could cause you big problems. Can't they radio him or something? They should be able to reach an officer without waiting for them to return to precinct. If it is something to has to be done today, then you'd think they'd get word to him quicker.

Ugh Chelle! What a crappy day huh! Maybe you could go drive past where the cop pulled ya over, chances are he's still there. Although that could open a whole new can of worms LOL! Try to enjoy your day off. Read a lil bob! Danielle got me a signed copy its in the mail...I cant wait!!!

Hey Chelle - Does VA have a program where if you take a Driver Education class after you get a ticket it won't effect your insurance or add points to your record? FL has a program like that, you may want to check into it. Down here you can even check out a DVD from blockbuster on driver safety and then take a online test to qualify. Just a thought. I got a ticket myself last month, but mine was for an expired tag. I don't know how I forgot to get it renewed (since August)? That's a nonmoving violation though, so my insurance isn't effected.

 So jealous yours is signed and mine is not!

Purple - I think they did radio him and tell him he has a message waiting for him. My mom says more than likely he won't call back so I'll be stuck going to court.

Yea they have something like that. I had to take one as a teenager. I think it takes like 5 points off your record or something like that.

Oh man chellez, I feel your pain....I drove for 15 years without one speeding ticket and the first one I get I am going uphill in Seattle with my mom and dad in the car on their first visit. It was all over at that point. My last ticket was about 4 years ago in Oregon....72 in a 60...$400 +. I'm thinking of marketing a speeders USA map, you know like the kind you see on the back of campers showing which states the owners have visited. Only mine you would use to keep track of which states you get a speeding ticket.

Not an "Admin Professional" here...but happy day to you all.

I'm considering the C25K...I know there is a whole thread for it, but since I am here and know some of you have/are doing it...at what pace do you start?

I went to Costco yesterday and I was going to pick up Bob's book...they didn't have it at the one I went to (I pass 2 of them on my way home from work). I will join in the discussion as soon as I pick up the book.

Hun.e.B 04-22-2008 11:57 AM

Chelle...she tried to get him on the phone with me too, I heard him say "How are you sweetheart" and then the phone cut out. So no talking to Bob. But, he asked her where I lived and she said Montana and he said "oh I love Montana" so I was thinking of inviting him over! LOL!

You're not helping my day to feel any better :(

Alright, I reserved a copy of Bob's Book at Borders, so I will pick it up today or tomorrow. (it won't be signed, Melissa :p)

Chelle - sorry about the ticket - it sucks

Purple - my WI weight for the challange was 219, so we can push each other along to get to our weights, I am looking for 185 by the end of the challange. (that's 34 lbs for me - UGH!)

Hope everyone is doing well!

I've gotten 2 tickets in VA in the past couple years. Both were for doing 70 in a 55 (both on straight, flat major highways where the limit should be 65 anyway, but then imagine how much $$ the state would lose  But I digress...). I never got reckless. I think it's 20 or 25 over the limit for reckless. Of course, now with those exorbitant fines on top of the actual tickets, I'd be out of control worried over the mistake on your ticket, too!

As for the possibility of an increase in insurance, it depends on what company the insurance is through. Some insurance companies have a service that alerts them when one of their customers has a ticket or accident or anything that would alow for a rate increase (I used to work for a company who did this--they had access to DMV and police databases and would send subscribing insurance companies this information). Other insurance companies, however, do not have this service and are often too busy to check their customers' driving records all the time. My current insurance company has not raised my rates despite 2 speeding tickets and an accident (not at fault); in fact, they lowered my rates last summer when I turned 25 :) But, being the stingy one I am, I shopped around in the fall to compare rates to see that I was getting the best deal for my auto insurance, and all new quotes were MUCH higher than my current rates because they were looking at my record with the 2 tickets and accident (I HATE that they can increase your rates for an accident when it's not even your fault).

I've been to court for tickets before, not to plead not guilty, but rather because even if you go in and plead guilty, a lot of judges will knock a few bucks off the ticket. It's happened for me twice. And I was only out of work for the morning, not all day. And I think it's fun to listen to some of the other cases. I've seen people taken away in handcuffs for things like DUIs, driving without a license, and so on.

I'm babbling. I'll stop :p And I'm making myself sound like such a bad driver--I promise I'm a good driver! :D

If you have to go to court because he doesn't get back to you, you might luck out and get a good judge who throws it out because the cops screwed up and the ticket isn't correct and he didn't correct it even when you tried to get ahold of him.

Good Luck!

This would be a dream come true. :D

Chelle - If you go to court and the officer doesn't show, doesn't it get dismissed? Also in FL if you pay your fine by check and write it for at least $8more than the cost of the fine, they have to send you a rebate. When they send the rebate, if you don't cash the rebate check, your record never gets transmitted to the Insurance Co. DH told me about this, he works in law enforcement, and one of the guys he knows at the traffic office told him about this. Don't know how it would work in VA though.

YES, that is also something I was going to mention in my post before I started babbling...:blah: :D
