I saw the tutorial about pictures. I'm excited!

I haven't seen one yet Spiny. I think a lot of folk signed up. I think it will take Chellez a while to PM everyone.

vixjean 01-07-2008 11:42 PM

Chellez---VERY nice instructions, did you go to school for computer training?

chellez 01-08-2008 08:50 AM

I'm actually in college at the moment for Business Systems Administration, but since it's a technical college, we get to dabble in other areas of computers a lot.

Most of the computer knowledge and repairs I know I've taught myself through trial and error.

Nicoyaangel 01-08-2008 01:59 PM

Are posting pictures of our bodies? and also where are we posting these pictures?

chellez 01-08-2008 02:19 PM

Yes it is pictures of you body. A thread will be made for these pictures when the challenge starts.

Nicoyaangel 01-08-2008 10:23 PM

Last question, how are we taking the pictures? Because I am doing the same thing but for my reference I am taking them in sports bra and shorts.

chellez 01-09-2008 08:23 AM

You can take pictures in whatever outfit you chose. I'm personally taking mine in jeans and a shirt just because I have so many.

My only suggestion is that when you do take your pictures to keep the outfit consistent so you can personally see changes. It would be kind of pointless to take a photo in normal fitting jeans and a normal fitting shirt then the next week you take a picture in baggy jeans and a loose shirt. You wouldn't see the difference.

This also may apply to the color shirt or pants you chose. (Remember black is more sliming than white.) ;)

Shy Moment 01-11-2008 10:17 AM

I wonder if there is going to be a new thread opened up for us to chat in once the challenge starts on the 13Th.

chellez 01-11-2008 10:29 AM

Yes, there will be all new threads opened when the challenge starts. More than likely I'll have them up on Saturday or Sunday.

tamaralynn 01-11-2008 11:15 AM

I have a jogging suit that's very... revealing (shape wise lol not skin wise). I will wear that.

ceegee 01-11-2008 11:48 AM

Hi chellez,

As far as the weigh-ins, my scale shows weight, for example, as 152.0
Should I round the tenth spot up or down for the purpose of weigh-ins, or use it?

Thanks!

Shy Moment 01-11-2008 02:30 PM

cee
I round it up. .5 or more goes up. .4 or lower leave it alone. That is what I do anyway. I am not so worried about the numbers that I let it bother me. Last weigh in I was at 158.2 ( on my scale at home ) I say 158 and leave it be. I happen to be at the docs office and it was right on the mark. Good enough for me. If it had said 158.5 or at the docs office it was wobbling I would have said 159. For me I get to have that loss that I didn't claim for the next week :) This is one of the main reasons I go to the doc every two weeks and use their scale. My ticker is based on the docs scale and I really only have the one at home for this challenge and if it is just to bad of weather out to drive to the docs. There are no .'s there. If it is on the mark you claim it if it isn't you don't.

Hun.e.B 01-11-2008 02:37 PM

I use the tenths of a pound, the formula for figuring % weightloss still works if you use the .whatever

chellez 01-11-2008 04:02 PM

I use the tenths as well when doing my weigh in calculations.

So if you are 158.5 please don't round up or down. It could cost us a weigh in! :D

My scale measures in 1/2 pounds, so that would be an excellent reason to go buy that new scale I've been wanting. My luck though it would be off from the scale I used for my starting weight. Perhaps I should try the scales out in the store, find the one with the lowest weight and buy that one?

tamaralynn 01-12-2008 10:22 AM

Mine weighs in a 1/5th of a pound (.2, .4, .6, .8) so I'll round up or down I guess. I'm still looking for a new scale though lol.

What is the formula for % of weight loss?

weight loss divided by starting weight for the week times 100 = % of weight lost
example: 2.2 lbs (weight lost) /162 (weight) x 100 = 1.36%

practiceliving 01-12-2008 11:31 AM

PLEASE don't round up or down!! Give us your weight as it is - whether your scale measures in tenths, fifths, halves or other fractions.

Chellez isn't kidding when she says those .2lbs and things like that can win/tie/lose a weigh-in so DON'T round them off! :D

godsgirlnmo 01-12-2008 01:25 PM

Woohoo I am so excited for this to start

melissa73 01-12-2008 10:09 PM

I am so excited for this to start too! I do WW and my weigh in day is Saturday so I found out my first loss today, and it is REALLY REALLY good but i'm not going to say what it is until the thread is up! :carrot:

Hun.e.B 01-12-2008 10:39 PM

its so true about a tenth of a pound making a difference last round we were within .03% of each other at times!

I'm a little confused about the first weigh-in post that's due tomorrow. Do we just post our original starting weight that we sent? Or do we post what we are this week? I didn't think the challenge started until tomorrow, because we didn't have teams or anything, so I don't know if changes in the last week are supposed to count.

Shay 01-13-2008 11:26 AM

It's not literally due tomorrow. You have until 11:59 pm EST to weigh in on 1/21 . It would not be your starting weight unless you have not lost any since submitting that weight. The challenge starts today. It might be helpful for you to read the first page of this thread and look at other people's post in the weigh in thread to get a clearer picture.

Scenestealer 01-13-2008 06:21 PM

So... why is everyone already posting in the weigh-in threads? My question is that I don't understand the numbers that people are posting. Are people just reposting their starting weights?

chellez 01-13-2008 06:23 PM

Alot of people are posting their weigh in formats so that when they do weigh in they can just go back to the post they've already made.

If you go to the FAQ thread, the first page, and read those Q & A's it will answer your question. The first number is the starting weight, then the list is the weeks of the challenge. Some people are putting on the deadline date for your weight to be recorded each week (that's what the Monday dates on the end of some lists are). If you go to that FAQ page though, it is explained much better than I am doing

Shay 01-13-2008 06:55 PM

Scenestealer--I posted a weight today because I weighed in today. You weigh in on Mondays right? So tomorrow you will go in and post your weight for this week. On Tuesday someone may post their weight because they are a Tuesday weigher, etc. No one is going in and posting their starting weight for week 1 unless they have not lost weight.

Edited to add: I just looked in the Red Team weigh in thread and no one has weighed in yet. They've just started their weigh in post. I'm confused about what you're confused about.

ChopperChick355 01-13-2008 07:51 PM

All I did was start my weigh in thread with the top stating my start weight. I will be weighing in on Fridays so that is when I will update my thread is on Fridays but everyone's weight is due by Monday's with the 21st being the first due date for your first weigh in, however I will be sending mine on the 18th Friday. But as everyone else has said the FAQ thread is great place to find all the answers to your questions

Shy Moment 01-14-2008 12:49 AM

I did the same thing. I posted my last weigh in amount. I do weigh ins on Wednesday so I set mine up to reflect that.

Scenestealer 01-14-2008 10:16 AM

Shay, I think your question answered it for me. I had read this thread (several times in fact), and just didn't get why people were already posting anything, even formats, when the weigh-in isn't for another week.

However, you also said that since I'm a Monday weigh-in, I would weigh in today. That's my new source of confusion. Since the first weigh-in period is 1/13 to 1/19, wouldn't I weigh-in after 1/19, meaning next Mon 1/21? That still puts me on track for the deadline. Otherwise, I'm counting last week when the challenge hadn't yet started.

I swear I've read everything - am just getting confused by some of the posts :)

practiceliving 01-14-2008 10:43 AM

Laura - I weighed in on Mondays last challenge, and I would use the weigh-in from the due date - i.e. this week, you'll use your 1/21 weight for your Week 1 weight. I did this because that was the "result" of the week of 1/13-1/19 (this week), if that makes sense.

Laura.....everyone is just putting the formats down so that way all you have to do is edit your post on the day that you weigh in no later than the 21st at 11:59pm EST......everytime you weigh in all you do is edit your original post so that way the threads stay clean and are easy to follow for the leaders who calculate our weight.......hope this helps! You are doing just fine!

Shay 01-14-2008 12:53 PM

Oh I get it now based on what Practice said. Its so funny how people think and perceive things differently. I weigh in on Sundays so I automatically weighed in on the 13th not even thinking about waiting until the 20th. Oh well. Besides the challenge started on 13th so some people will weigh in prior to the 21st and that weight loss will be counted.

Hun.e.B 01-14-2008 01:09 PM

People are posting in the weigh in threads to get their formats down (as someone already pointed out) so when they post their weekly weigh in all they need to do is update the ONE post in the thread. Thats the only thread and post that leaders will be looking at to see if deadline was met and to find what number to use for calculating team totals.

The first weigh in deadline is next Monday 1/21 by 11:59EST, so you have from now until then to post your Week 1 weigh in. What day you do it on is up to you as long as it is posted by that date. When someone posts their weight during the week would all depend on what day they normally weigh in on, and others just do it on Monday. Some people like to do it a little early so they make sure they meet the deadline.

I hope that cleared up the confusion.

This challenge is already started and is no longer accepting new members. It will end around April 5th (I forget the exact day). A few weeks later a new one will probably start.
