Weekly Team Topic This Week Is: What do you find is the hardest thing to give up or to start now that you're trying to lose weight?

I think the hardest thing for me is to not eat after my kids go to bed. It's like some type of stress reliever or just a bad habit I've gotten into. I've been doing pretty well with it since I've started WW, but still have my moments. I distract myself with my cross stitch project or reading my book. Sometimes if water doesn't take care of it, then I have something light and stop. Use to just eat and eat and eat, so atleast I've broken that gawd awful habit. :D

So how is everyone doing today? I'm doing good, I mowed the front and backyard, took me 75 minutes and then I sprayed the weed killer so I can plant my flowers this weekend. I'm going to get a workout in this evening.
My youngest has stayed home the last 2 days with a serious case of poison ivy. Took him to the doc yesterday and they put him on presidone(sp?). His poor face and left arm looked awful, it's looking better today. So hopefully tomorrow he'll go back to school. Him and my husband who is also on presidone for it, picked it up last Wednesday when they went out to our property to plant a tree Lane got when they went on a fieldtrip. They just cleared some roots, which obviously belonged to poison ivy. It didnt' show itself til Friday and then BAM, they had it all over their faces, hands and arm.
Well I guess I bet go get dinner going. I need to go update on the water challenge. That's helped me a lot to get in my water!!!:carrot: I'll check in later on.

SassyKay 05-08-2007 06:08 PM

Welcome Ericsmom - your son is a cutie pie!

I just tried to log on here and the site was down - I almost had a panic attack thinking it got shut down forever - what would I do without you ladies?! WE KICKED *** THIS WEEK! And check out our leader - the biggest loser to boot!!! Congrats once again Chellez!

Weekly Team Topic This Week Is: What do you find is the hardest thing to give up or to start now that you're trying to lose weight?

The hardest thing for me would definitely be the exercise. Much like Diva, once I get going, I'm golden but if I miss a couple of days, it can totally throw me off track. I am now trying to keep it interesting and challenge myself with new goals and exercises so I don't get bored. Would love to have an exercise partner who made me accountable for doing it.

The second hardest thing would be the planning and preparation. I don't mind eating healthy unprocessed foods - I actually prefer them - but the time and effort it takes to prepare and balance meals vs. just grabbing something fast can be challenging. I'm getting more and more used to it and in the end, the results and feeling are so worth it.

Alisa - I totally know what you mean about rewarding yourself when you do well. I try not to do that anymore but it's an easy trap to get caught in. I love the rewards you've set out for yourself. My DH said to me that when I started, I should make a goal and reward myself for that - i.e. keep your eye on the prize. I told him the feeling of being thin was reward enought but he came up with a reward goal of a new wardrobe when I reach my goal weight. I'm all for it!

Okay - I'm off to make some dinner

Have a good night ladies!

chellez 05-08-2007 06:43 PM

Well ladies! I'm happy to report that dispite my feeling I cheated and gained this week.... I lost some weight! :woohoo:

I told the receptionist I thought I would gain this week and she wrote down my weight and I about fell over.

I made it back to the 80's! 189.2 to be exact. My goal for next week is to make it back to my birth year of 85! Sorry if that makes anyone feel older than normal :D

So I lost 8 ounces and I wont be biggest loser this week but thanks for all the congrats on my last week BL.

My leader told me to tell you all hello and she's rooting for us! ;)

chellez 05-08-2007 09:33 PM

Well I just logged my weigh on weight watchers and I've lost 7.6 lbs so far! :yay: time to celebrate by putting away laundry!

I get these little quotes from weight watchers when I weigh in. Evidently Elanor Roosevelt was a very inspirational man and its ironic I get a quote from WW the same day I picked a quote for our team motto. I got this one after I posted my weight

`The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.`
- Eleanor Roosevelt

Well time to put laundry away! Night ladies.

ohh Chellez..... so cute in your youth (you're only 6 years younger than me ehhehe)...... Elanor Ros. was a woman ;) and youre right she was very motivational

I read it a few times JUST to make sure.... but then I thought... is she being sarcastic?? oh either way I laughed.... so that burned...what...5 calories :) hooray

congrats on your losses.... I am feeling OUTSTANDING about my what my numbers will be at the end of the week

jennylou 05-09-2007 01:38 AM

Chellez - WTG! Woot! Isn't it great when you think you've gained and you have actually lost?

Well, ladies, I'm home, so I will be around a lot more to cheer everyone on! :)

I stepped on the scale tonight and was happy to see that the damage isn't too bad. Now, I always WI in the mornings (and usually Wed), so I don't have an official WI weight but it looks like I won't need to post another gain for this week and might be able to help out with a loss this week!

Robot 05-09-2007 01:48 AM

:bravo: on the weight loss Chellez!

I weigh in tomorrow, and I have a feeling I either didn't lose or gained a pound or two. It was my birthday Saturday, and I cheated the whole weekend.

 Wow... way to have a dee dee dee moment there Michelle. I guess I was confusing her with Theodore.... American History tends to blend together on me sometimes. :p

Diva 05-09-2007 09:10 AM

Good morning everyone. TOM cramps have me down again today. I can at least sit up this morning. I so hate this TOM. I'm in no hurry to get older, but I do wish I could go thru the change earlier and be done with this crap.:dizzy: Anywho, no exercising for me right now, but I am doing ok with the eating.

The man FINALLY got fed up with his job of the past 4 yrs and told them to bite his butt last Thursday. He was out Frieday putting in applications. Yesterday, the very first place he went to, AND the job we both really wanted him to have (for over a year) called him in for an interview. He went in and got hired!!!! YAY!!!! No paychecks will go missed and no bills will go unpaid. Plus our kitty that ran off a week 1/2 ago came home! YAY!!!! We've been blessed. :D

Tina30 05-09-2007 09:50 AM

Good morning ladies! Yesterday was a good but non-relaxing day! I swear everytime I would go to sit and read or just go to switch my load of laundry one of the kids was in moaning about something! I love them to death but hello can I have 3 freaking seconds please. Oh yeah and then my only quiet time is shower time and my husband is like "Madison wants to get in with you here she is" Whatever! I can't do anything without one of them up my rear! Eating and exercise were good yesterday. I have been eating smaller meals throughout the day. I don't have a big appitite for anything right now so I just have been eating a little here and there, but it has been healthy. Today I only have cardio to do and I am waiting a few min. to see if the rain is holding off or not. I would like to put my daughter on the back of my bike and go for a ride this morning....I just don't want to get caught in a downpour and it looks really iffy out. My son has a bb game tonight...weather pending so that will be fun. Well I am off to eat something and see about the weather!

Chellez- Great job on the loss hun.....you made it into your 180's :bravo: Don't worry I am awful with history also....although I did know Eleanor was a women!:D

Diva- Congrats to your husband on the new job!:congrat: I am sure that is a huge relief to both of you!

Veggielady- Happy belated birthday! :bday2you: Good luck with this weeks weigh-in!

SassyKay- If you could find an exercise partner I would strongly recommend it. I have been working out with my SIL for years now and its nice to have someone keep you in check when you need it!;)

Jennylou- :welcome: back home!

Alisa- You go girl....I am excited to see your numbers this week also. Your really kicking it up a notch!:lifter:

Cathy- I so need to get in my yard and do something with it. It stinks though I want new landscaping and we can't afford it right now so I think I just gave up on it. It looks bad though I am going to have to do something in the meantime to spruce it up and make it look decent. Hope your son and husband are feeling better. :)

Have a good one ladies!

choosewell 05-09-2007 12:01 PM

Hey, Mo!

Welcome, Mo! I'm choosewell (Beth Ann)...I don't post daily, but make it here several times a week. Congratulations on your success so far, it sounds like you have started all kinds of healthy habits.

Cathy...my sister (weight loss/maintain successful - she's amazing) taught me a trick for "grazing times." She looks for the lowest calorie dense food she can find that will satisfy the "need"...if she can't first divert herself from the kitchen.

DIVA!! Congrats on the new job for your guy and your Prodigal Pussy-cat! It's so hard to lose a pet and when you don't know what's happened to them is just the worst. What a terrific week for you!

canadian mom...dollar stores are such a great invention. Sometimes it's just fun to wander around in there to see what's made it to the dollar store now. Cheap decorations and wrapping paper, especially.

OK...I am off to get some water, since I haven't gotten involved in the water challenge yet...I gotta support the team!

choosie.

KrispieD 05-10-2007 09:02 AM

Way to go Chell

Go Blue Go!

canadian mom 05-10-2007 09:32 AM

Man another goergous day here, itis supposed to cool down this weekend but I hope it doesn't.I a trying to work on getting more water in but I have a small bladder that I just do not want to go to the doc to get stretched just yet (I will have to go on meds for about 3 years after that will cost around 100$/month) i drank more than I posted but not exactully sure how much cause my kids kept drinking it on me also.lol

My weight is fluctuating between 133 and 135 Sunday being my lowest( I am tracking my weight this month to see the high and low times).

Tina30 05-10-2007 10:07 AM

Good morning ladies! :coffee: I don't even drink coffee but I thought that was cute :) So how are we all doing? This week is going by really fast for me, and I have to say I don't mind. This weekend I think were going to take the kids to the zoo on Sat. and then Sunday morning head out on the boat for a few hours before heading over to my MIL's, so with all that going on this weekend I need to get my house cleaned today and tommorow. I hate cleaning when its so nice out, so I thought I would split it between two days and comprimise. I have a confession to make ladies.....I peeked at the scale this morning and it read......137:cb: I am moving in the right direction again and loving it. I am going to wait until Sat. morning to make my official weigh-in with the hope that 2 more days of good eating and exercise I will lose maybe another 1/2 -1 pound!:goodscale I think if I lose 3lbs this week I will hit my 5 pound mark and will get my first:woohoo: for this challange. Well I am off to exercise and clean ladies! Have a great day!;)

KrispieD- Hope the house is going well! I have 3 kids 10,5,3 so I know what your talking about....they are little monkeys! :dizzy:

Jen- Tracking your weight for a month is a really good idea! I would think it would show just how much your weight changes day to day and help not obsess over the number so much. Keep up the good work though....your almost there!:carrot:

Well ladies let's finish out this week strong and pull another VICTORY in! :high:

chellez 05-10-2007 10:57 AM

:carrot: Almost time for lunch! Well... I have about 45 mins but it's still almost time!

I'm having a snack right now cause my tummy was telling me I couldn't wait any longer. I had breakfast at 7 and its about 10:50 at the moment so it's about the right time for a light snackaroo! Celery and light mozzarella cheese.... yum! :hungry:

So lets see.... what have I done on my checklist for today?

Woke up and packed my healthy lunch... check
Planned out points for today...check
Made the commitment to exercise today...check
Put up the route for the exercise challenge...check

Yes! I finally got it finished. Well sort of, it's still waiting for approval of Melissa - the red team leader and you guys. I need to know if you want to do the exercise challenge with or without the red team. But post those opinions over on the exercise input thread so I can find them all in one place. :D

Well I need to finish my business plan for class on Monday. Tomorrow is Daniel's birthday so he'll be 26. I'm still 4 years younger than him. Anyway so I get treated to Bill's Seafood tomorrow night! :yay: In case you've never been to the Yorktown, VA Area, Bill's is like one of the best seafood places around here. :hungry: Making my tummy growl thinking about it! *grabs another stalk of celery*

Talk to you all later!
