Hi all,
Credits first--I went to my weight loss class, drank as much water as I'm supposed to/plan to, and had my 3 products when I intended. I overate at dinner, but stopped myself before it went too far, so I actually am giving myself credit for stopping myself, even though I hadn't intended to have the flatbread with peanut butter. When I finished that, I wanted more--or trail mix. I had neither. I did the dishes, talked myself down, and went up to my office with my water bottle. Now here it is almost 11:00 and I am glad, rather than sorry, that I didn't have anything additional.
Tomorrow I have going to have 3 products and a dinner. I've got to give the dinner a little thought, but I'll plan it in the morning and commit to that and nothing else.
G'night all.

Wednesday - Jimi Hendrix (16) fired from band due to "wild" playing (1959, Seattle)
Diet Coaches/Buddies - In my class on the cell, we discussed how proteins are folded. What a gas! It's not just that they're their own unique string of amino acids, but the three dimensional shape is what gives them their chemical properties. It's all so beautiful in there.
Eating was OKish, CREDIT moi. Dinner was a potluck supper that I wasn't invited to! It was held in my own dining room - the bunch of gardening friends of DW. To be invited, one doesn't just refer to hyacinth, but to Hyacinthus orientalis. They do this naturally, as if it were the way to talk. I was allowed to take a tray from the bounty up to my office. Unfortunately, that included a piece of a super chocolate torte. I had a day's worth of calories and caffeine in a few bites.
maryann - Yep, a little outside stuff seems to make us want to eat as a defense. Kudos for digging into your journal.
Karen (karenrn) - Love the story of your dad flying sourdough bread from San Francisco. Reminds me that a few decades ago I'd be a hero when I returned from a San Francisco business trip with a loaf in my briefcase. Hope Otis enjoys his hike.
Beth (bethturnaround) - Kudos, indeed, for stopping. And Kudos for drinking all your water.
Penny. - Lentil veggie loaf sounds good. Do your kids like it?

I've made it to the third round. Today is a meet and greet with the staff, and its now between myself and one other person. No pressure there!! It's a wierd situation- you want to appear excited but not cocky, because the job hasn't been offered. I talked to my brother who has interviewed a lot of people and he said this is common now and a very good sign. I have lost out to the other person in my prior attempts so I'm trying not to get too excited. And then of course I get worried about what if this is a bad idea I should know by the end of the week either way.
And then whatever happens there is a lot of other things to focus on, like once again reining it in foodwise.
Penny- we eat separately too. Your food all sounds so good!
Maryann- good idea about consulting the food journal. I put off writing my food down but i know it is key.
Karen- that is so cute that Otis will go on the hike. I bet he will have a great time exploring everything!
Beth- great job stopping!!
Bill-are the gardeners inventive cooks? Somehow I think they would be.

Good Morning,
OP yesterday except for going slightly past satisfied. That also includes a rewrite of the food journal. I have to have a sweet or I do not seem to be able to not treat at work. So at least I know myself.
Easy day for me. I took the afternoon off. Gym is no choice. Smoothie made.
Karen: sourdough is one thing I take for granted living so close to SF. DS could live on nothing but.
Curley: Good Luck
BBE: I love to read about the negotiations between you and yr wife. It is a great model for DH and me.
Penny: I really value family dinners. They will not be around for ever,

Good morning!
Yesterday was over budget, as expected, and weight is holding.
Beth, credit for keeping your cravings under control.
Bill, the potluck sounds yummy. My kids liked the lentil loaf well enough on day one, but only one kid pulled the leftovers out of the fridge for a repeat on day two. I still call it a win.
Curly, excellent news about the job. So many call-backs! That sounds stressful.
Maryann, that's nice you got the afternoon off. I like the family meals too. We are together 24/7 so it's not so important for us but once in a while makes it special.

Good afternoon coaches,
A quick check in for me today. Exercise was a Camelback hike this morning. Food a bit over budget. Heading to the airport soon to pick up our friends. More tomorrow.

Hi everyone!
After going back and forth, I planned my dinner (huge salad with veggies, chicken, cheese, and hard boiled egg). I made my delicious salad (and it was huge). When I was done, I wanted something else. I kept talking myself into "just this" and then talking myself out of it. There was a small serving of ice cream calling my name--so I offered it to DD so it wouldn't be available anymore. It was a bit of a struggle--but I struggled through it and didn't cave. My resistance muscle got a huge workout. I couldn't pretend "just this one" because "future Beth" is a liar--and it is always more than "just this once". I feel proud of myself--I made a plan and stuck to the plan. I actually am going to have exactly the same thing tomorrow--it was delicious and filling and when most of the meal is veggies, it always seems like a lot of food!
I was full, too--my stomach didn't want more food, just my mouth. My mouth is not in charge, so I declared the kitchen closed. I've also been on target with water today, and had no issues with my 3 products for my earlier meals. I have this feeling right now that having dinner more nights than I have products is a good move for me for transitioning. DH is gone this week and so I don't even have to consider what he would be eating. And if he was home, he could eat the same salad I do--it's yummy :-)
penny: It's great that your weight is holding!
maryann: Slightly past satisfied sounds so familiar--it's tough to stop.
curlyjax: Wishing you good thoughts for the job--it's always nerve wracking.
BillBlueEyes: A potluck where you disappear with the food seems strange--but probably just as well, considering :-).
karenrn: I hope you had a great hike today!

Thursday - US President Barack Obama meets with the Dalai Lama (2014)
Diet Coaches/Buddies - Exercise was chase the (3.5 yo) DGD day, CREDIT moi. She's tall enough that I have to place her facing the other way in the swing in the indoor play space - neat because I get some resistance exercise lifting her. She rejected six books in a row that DW offered to read with, "No, no, no, no," then replied "Yes, yes, yes, yes" to Three Billy Goats Gruff. She supplies the sounds when the big billy goat bashes heads with the troll and when the troll hits the water. Kids do love their loud noises. She now gets the difference between a library book and a book that we own: she can 'borrow' a book that we own to take home for her mom to read to her.
Eating was on plan, CREDIT moi, until the unexpected reception after an evening lecture. There was a platter of bacon wrapped dates with an almond inside. I'd never seen that before. It's as evil a dish as has ever been constructed. I didn't just indulge, I had two. They should be banned from planet earth. You get all the savory of a good, crisp bacon and enough sugar from the date for a day's allotment. And the almond is just a reward at the end. I then didn't limit myself very well with the stuffed mushrooms, and the top-shelf cheeses. I tried to balance this with some raw sliced zucchini just to let my stomach know that sanity was still important.
maryann - Neat that you continue to learn about yourself.
Karen (karenrn) - Camelback is a nifty hike.
curlyjax - Good luck with your third round - smart not to get cocky early since there's another candidate. Yes, the gardeners are inventive; a grain dish had a small number of roasted Brussels Sprouts included - quite yummy.
Beth (bethturnaround) - Super Kudos for the strategy of getting your DD to eat the icecream so it could no longer call your name.
Penny. - Yay for a steady weight. Neat that one of the kids went back for the lentil loaf the next day.

Good morning coaches,
Exercise today will be the gym with a friend this morning. It's raining here and expected to for two days straight. I haven't made my food plan yet, but pretty much know what it will be. This afternoon I will be getting one of my lower right molars extracted and the beginning part of the implant placed (I guess that's how it works). I have got to say I am a wimp. I haven't had any problems of any kind since I broke my shoulder a few years back and I dread the thought of this, but I remind myself of what others are going through and to just buck up. On a more upbeat note I'm feeling good about the fact that I'm getting stronger with my hiking and many times have to wait for others now rather than trying to keep up all the time, which is how it used to be. This morning I read a lengthy trip report from a solo hiker on the John Muir Trail. I'm getting both excited and a bit nervous about the trip.
Bill Those dates sound incredible. I've decided I cannot bring the large Costco container into the house. I'm going to have to get a smaller container at another store. I can resist a lot of things, but I'm not very good at resisting dates. Lesson learned.
Beth Great job on having your salad and then talking yourself out of the other things. You are not alone and the more you do it the easier it will become.
Curlyjax I'm looking forward to hearing about the next step in the interview process.
Waving to the rest of you. I'm going to get up and get some planning done. I'm thinking soup and smoothies may be in my future for a couple of days.

Good Morning.
Yesterday was OP until I inadvisably reopened the kitchen after dinner. Drat! Beth gave a great description of how my mind was working. The lying mind of just one is very seductive. I am making a generous food plan today with the only goal of following it and eating while sitting down.
On the credit side, I took a long walk and went to half of a yoga class. I also started a new book. Too much tv time has crept into my life. That could be one of the night eating issues. Tonight I will hit the gym or bike and go to an AA meeting. The meetings really give me a great perspective on how lucky I am. I thought this morning I might check to see if there is an Overeaters Anonymous meeting in town. I went long ago,
BBE: dates in my vita mixer with cocoa make a great chocolate milk shake.
Karen: Have you looked into that GPS alert thing that brings some kind of evacuation help if needed. It might give you some peace of mind. I was thinking of it because I hope to be hiking some this summer.

Good morning!
Yesterday was on plan, with cycling class, and weight is holding.
Beth, credit for sticking with your food plan. A big salad is so yummy, and lots of satisfying chewing.
Bill, bacon date almond wraps sound good. We tried peanut butter packed dates with a dark chocolate chip crammed in. Such a quick little treat with whole foods.
Karen, have a nice gym day. It's so great you have friends to join you with all of your exercise.
Maryann, I'm curious about the half of a yoga class. Did you arrive late of leave early? Lol kudos for the pretty good day, despite reopening the kitchen.

Friday - Dolly the Sheep, world's first cloned mammal, announced (1997, Scotland)
Diet Coaches/Buddies - With the temperature kissing 50 degrees F, exercise was chipping away the old ice that I'd let accumulate from earlier snow. Glad to have that gone.
Eating was good, CREDIT moi, including my old favorite peanut butter, pecan, banana on whole wheat bread ends sandwich for lunch. After an evening lecture on how to get the most out of a doctor's visit from a Professional Patient Advocate, we had dinner at our favorite sushi bar. It's a favorite because the fish is so good and the service is very fast. And the mochi ice cream ball is only $1 - just the right size for a sweet taste after dinner. We're out of there so quickly that we only paid for one hour at the parking lot.
maryann - Ouch for the post dinner kitchen visit. In my ideal house, there's a time vault door on the kitchen like at a bank. That would solve the problem.
Karen (karenrn) - I assume that rain in Arizona is celebrated. LOL at not being able to buy the large Costco container of dates.
Penny. - My fault for introducing food porn, but "peanut butter packed dates with a dark chocolate chip crammed in" has me drooling.

The meet and greet was odd. I met 2 people, but felt like it was a waste of my time frankly. No one had any questions for me. The director seemed tired and non-engaged, like she had already made up her mind but had to do this for HR, and I walked away feeling like someone else had the job. I have not been asked for references which isn't a good sign. So I just have a sense that I'm not getting it, which is fine, but i hope they hurry up and make it final. I am going to give them my opinion of this meet and greet thing- I wasted more vacation time doing it, and I think a non-profit should treat people better than that, especially since its not a high level job.
I was feeling pretty bummed afterwards, and went to a bookstore for some comfort reading. I read part of a true book about a man who had to tattoo people in the Holocaust- and that really gave me perspective! Not comfort but I walked out feeling relieved to be alive and safe. I have a decent job, something else will ultimately come along.
So onwards! Personals tomorrow, happy friday everyone!

Good morning coaches,
First off I just have to say I was nervous about nothing regarding the tooth. I am so relieved that it is over and it was not bad at all. I have no pain at all. I did one dose of Advil when I got home yesterday and I could only eat cold or room temperature soft food yesterday. I made some mashed potatoes and ate them at room temperature and had a little yogurt and the last of some ice cream for dinner. I have the tiniest bit of swelling that I'm sure no one but me would notice. It's going to rain all day today and the high is expected to be 49. I'm going to stay home and do housework and I'm just so happy to feel fine. This weekend there is an event in town called Divas and Dudes in the Desert. It is a subgroup from a FB group called NFLN, No Finish Line Nation. I met some of these people when they came for the first event about 18 months ago. This time about 35 folks or more are coming to town for a get together. Luckily the weather will be getting better tomorrow. I'll meet up for a casual gathering this evening, a picnic tomorrow and a hike and breakfast on Sunday. I also met up with some of the gals in Colorado in September. I'm really a small group person so this is a bit out of my comfort zone, but I try to get out of my comfort zone and meet new people.
Curlyjax I'm sorry about the meet and greet. I think it's awful that they would feel it was okay to waste your time that way. It is always good to evaluate, refocus and get things in perspective again.
Bill I think it must have been about the same temperature in Boston as in Phoenix yesterday. Yes, we kind of like the rain but we have had too much this winter as far as I'm concerned. There was record setting snow in Flagstaff yesterday, I think 35 inches in 24 hours and it beat the record set in 1915. Flagstaff is about 2 hours north of here.
Penny How are you liking the cycling class? I should go back and do that one, if not now at least when it gets too hot to be outside. I am glad to have a friend meet me at the gym since I'm not crazy about the gym now that I'm not going to Crossfit.
Maryann Yes, I am going to purchase the Garmin InReach Mini soon. Not only can it be used to SOS, but I will be able to text message my husband and get messages from him. There is a blue tooth interface with the iPhone so that the typing is done on the iPhone. The device is about $350 and there is a monthly subscription fee that can be turned off for those months a person doesn't need it. It also will show my husband and whomever, where I am. I belong to a couple of JMT FB groups and lots of people have used this.
Waving to Beth, GardenerJoy and OnebyOne.

Good Morning,
I started my one day OP streak yesterday I heard a useful tidbit in a podcast. Discipline is a muscle that needs disruption to strengthen it. In order to break a pattern I need a disruption. So I set a three oclock reminder of my one day streak. I also also left 25% of my breakfast on the
plate to practice finding my satisfied 2 instead of full 5. Many of these ideas overlap with Beck so I have to believe there is something to them,
