Which Atkins book? Why prior to 2002?
Hi, I am brand new to Atkins.
I read the "Atkins for Life" book (2003) by Robert Atkins. Why is that that this forum recommends that we read the Atkins Diet books published before 2002 please? What are the differences? Thank you. |
Because they were actually written by Dr Atkins prior to his death...

Dr Atkins new diet revolution is written 2002. It's very good and I highly recommend it. I guess because the older versions are back to basics an people swear by it. I think it's important to do what is best for you. If you have success on the book you have, then you should do it.

I use Atkins 1972 original version. I count total carbs, NEVER NET carbs. In fact I only eat from the A72 induction food list...basically I am a biological 0 carb eater. (this is personal because I am so carb sensitive) but I find that the original Atkins 1972 book 'tells it like it is' about carbs. the NEWer atkins includes all kinds of junk like atkins bars, frozen meals and more. to me this is not real food. it is frankenfood along with 'net' carbing to make it all palatable. this convenience food and 'net' carbing makes the 'diet' WAY more comfortable to people, therefore they will find it more accepting. when in doubt, count total carbs also eat real food you cook try to bypass the restaurant junk if possible one thing I learned along the way is take absolute responsibility for the food you eat. hands on cooking means you control what goes into your tummy :) that is just some of my ideas on why I like A1972 version better. personal choice in the end but many have done well on Atkins 20 net carb and it comes down to what plan just suits you the best along with what foods work best with your body. |

The book to use is the Diet Revolution book,(shown here with his picture on the cover). I got the book for less than $1 at a thrift store.

Hi!
Looking for advice on what I am doing wrong. Since I have been following for a couple months and have not lost weight. Does this ever happen to anyone? Perhaps I am having too much cheese and I am frustrated but not giving up. Thanks for any help. I read the adkins web site information many times and several adkins books on amazon. I guess I didn't realize I could not eat more protein to get through the cravings and still lose weight... |
