2002 DANDR support group
 
Looking for like minded people who need a support system without the excuses, acceptance of cheats, and commercial crap that comes with most groups. I have a weakness for cocktails and know I have to let it go in order to complete the lifestyle change that is this WOE.
So mainly a place for discussions, support and even recipie swap....
Hope to see some join.

Had a bad craving for something bad and was super hungry since my morning eggs had worn off.... So I had 8 Brussels sprouts and a cup of turkey thigh tossed in butter and a touch of soy sauce... Yummy and satisfied now... Turkey breast with mayo and cherry tomatoes wrapped in lettuce for dinner... Off to work I go.

I am just finishing the book that I borrowed from the library. Its the 2002 book. Starting tommorow after I've planned. :) Excited but nervous as well. I've failed so many times but I just need to keep my chin up and know this is a way of life and not just a quick fix :)

Jessie how are you doing? Today is day 1 and I'm feeling kind of blah. Tired, headache, and hungry despite eating. Going to lay and watch a movie and then just head to bed early.

Sounds like Atkins Flu. Be sure you are drinking plenty of water. Broth helps as well.

Babygrant, good thank you, what jersey girl said for sure. The good news is that means you are on the right path, three days or so and you will feel amazin, more energy, "alive" per say. I had been having great success on just simple foods and water but then I saw all these amazing recipes on a group I was a part of and started making and eating them but I am afraid it was too soon and I was taking in hidden and unaccounted carbs so today I went back to the store and loaded up on raw veggies, BACON, salami for wraps and salad stuff so back to basics and try to get back on the losing track.... Best of luck I am here if ya need anything!!! Have a great day!! P.S. If you can find a pink Himalayan salt grinder at Wal mart or any other store it is so much better for you than iodized salt or even sea salt. It can make the difference in how you feel during the flu part!!!

End of day 3. Feeling good tonight. Wanted to cave earlier because I was exhausted, major headache and craving sugar but I stuck to it and feel good!

This sounds like my Kind of Group. I am also following the 2002 book. I am on day 17 of Induction. The book said if I wanted to I could continue on induction so here I am. I lost 12 lbs so far but no loss in the last week. I set my goals at 5% Carbs, 60% Fats, and 35% Protein. I have come to the conclusion that I may be eating too much of the right foods. I use My Fitness Pal for tracking my food and in addition to Carbs, Fat and Protein I track Calories as well. That goal started at the books recomendation for men at 1800. The first week I reduced that to 1600 and today I reduced it to 1400 calories all the while keeping my Carbs, Fat and Protein percentage the same. I believe I am in ketosis due to the terrible taste in my mouth when I wake up but have not actually tested for it.

My average Carbs per day dor the last 16 days is 17 grams. That is gross carbs not net carbs.

I am new at this so I welcome any and all suggestions and support

Larry I've heard its normal to stall out while your body adjusts. Honestly I wouldn't drop your calories yet. 1400 is quite low for a man unless you are 5'0 ;)

babygrant LOL not far from it I am 5' 6" and 70 years young. I have read that our basic metabilisim slows as you age. I will have to think about a good calorie goal. I am quite active maintaining five acres of wooded lawn with a seeming endless supply of fallen tree limbs to pick up. Not to mention five acres of grass to mow.

We are currently homesteading on 2.5 acres so I know how busy you are. We have 13 laying hens, 5 chicks who are 8 weeks, 11 chicks who are 2 weeks, 3 adult rabbits, 11 baby rabbits, and two dogs ;) Plus our 1/2 acre garden. Phew. Love it. Kudos for you for doing it at 70! Amazing!

Today is the end of day 4 and I feel great. Hunger is way down, ceavunfs are lessoning, had way more energy today and no headache! Peeked at the scale today and I am pleasantly surprised but will change my ticker on official weigh in on Monday :)
