Bulletproof Coffee

Does anyone here start their day with this? I have seen several paleo friends post about it and think it would work well with Atkins. If you haven't heard of it, it's basically coffee blended with grass fed butter and either coconut oil or MCT oil. I can't see any reason it wouldn't work with Atkins.

Supposedly it helps with mental acuity throughout the morning and helps curb cravings with the dose of fat.

Don't take what I say as what you should or could do but I start my morning off that way every day with breakfast and I don't get hungry for about five hours, however I have just learn the dangers of caffeine and keytosis and why it's so bad so I think I'm to switch it for non-caffeinated tea. I think the caffeine thing goes something like this.... Caffeen stresses out the adrenal glands and creates cortisol, cortisol creates a blood glucose spike and kicks you out of keytosis... Mind you I'm not hundred percent sure of that but I'm pretty sure that's what I read so anyway non-caffeinated tea with coconut oil, MCT and butter (I use Amish butter) for me, man does it cut hunger.

Good to know thanks! I will not be giving up my coffee but it's good to know you can do it with other things. I am hoping to get a morning brain /energy boost. Once I'm in ketosis I'm never really hungry much. Thus far I haven't had a problem with caffeine in ketosis but I guess it may be something to watch out for.

Thanks for this! I always put a half a Splenda in my morning coffee so I added it to the bulletproof this morning. OMG SO good! I can totally see drinking this every morning.

I can't quite imagine this ladies lol My stomach is doing flips imagining butter in my coffee cup! HA!

Does the butter and oil not make your coffee taste... well oily?? How do you mix it and how much do you use?

Shannon, why is yours not legal? That's all stuff allowed.

Ali if you throw it all into a warm blender it gets frothy and creamy like a frapachino.... so yummy!!

How to Make Bulletproof Coffee (Step By Step):

http://www.endofthreefitness.com/how...-better-human/

This is too easy.

*Optional Step 5: Add cinnamon

What you need:
•Awesome Coffee
•UNSALTED grass-fed butter (Kerry Gold is a common brand) 2 tbsp
•MCT Oil or Coconut Oil (I use coconut oil) 2 tbsp
•Powerful Blender

This cup of coffee alone is probably about 10x healthier than your current breakfast, and it has the calories to match (think meal replacement). But having said that, healthy fats, if you are not accustomed to digesting them, can be a little rough on the stomach. I recommend starting with just 1 Tbs and moving up. I jumped right into 2 Tbs and had no problems, but I am not aware of what YOUR current diet looks like.

When you blend it the oils get suspended, it's not greasy. I meant legal in terms of a true bulletproof coffee....I don't use special beans or mct oil.

Oh I see - ok, that sounds a lot better than I had imagined HAHA!! Hmm.... I might give that a try - maybe lol, I dunno, still sounds like maybe a little more than I can handle HAHA I'm weird about texture and things like that. lol I don't think I could try it for breakfast though lol maybe I'll try it in the evening for the 1st time :)

I actually blended mine up in my single serving blender and it was perfect. Thick and creamy, not oily or greasy at all. I will be incorporating that into my mornings now for sure!
