New to the forum..committing again.

Hello everyone. I restarted Atkins on May 6th 2013. I have been trying to lose the same weight for 7 years. I was overweight as a kid, thin from starving as a teen...fat again in my early 20s and then thin again in my late 20s. At 31 I started to get heavy. Had some personal/marriage pains and then proceeded to gain steadily. I am now about 90 pounds overweight. To write that ...it is just shocking and sad. I would quit smoking and diet and just gain more and more. The journey has been unpleasant. I have used Atkins, WW...and pills. Only to quit and stuff my face for months afterwards ending up heavier than when I started. The truth is that food is like a drug or sex for me. I feel almost robotic and lethargic at the same time. I am now using this WOE as an experiment that will last and last. I have decided that weighing myself...is a trap. I weigh, I see a loss and I pig out. It is a disgusting cycle for me that is all a battle in my head. It makes no logical sense and yet I continue to do it. I have decided that this time I will not allow that to be part of the experiment! haha. So anyway...I am here reading for inspiration, knowing that I have no knowledge other than the expertise that I have in failures. I have no idea if I will write here much. I have belonged to other forums where there was much food porn and it triggered me so I had to leave. I hope you are all well and having success in your journey to health. Thank you for all your comments and inspiring stories. Francie Jones

:welcome2:Francie!

The best advice I can give you is to read the book BEFORE you attempt doing this plan ( Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, 2002 or prior versions ). This will educate you exactly how & why this plan works when its done correctly.
I've been doing Atkins 9 years now and I am living proof it works!
You CAN do this!!
All the best to you!!

Most of what you said here applies to me as well. I am 4'9 and have gone as far as 180 lbs when 125 lbs is where I am supposed to be. made lifetime on ww, and gained it all back. i did Ideal Protein and lost wonderfully but due to vacation didn't phase off properly and gained it all back. Now i find that diet to restrictive and started Atkins. For the first time in over 20 years, I am allowing myself to eat whole fat foods. I need to tweak my whole approach again because I am not losing weight. Not gaining either but I need to lose around 30 pounds this time around.
Good luck and know you are not alone. There are plenty of food addicts that can relate. With Atkins it is easier to withstand temptations and that in itself is worth eating this way.

Just realized something very important I failed to mention:o Follow Atkins Induction EXACTLY as it is written, meaning eat NOTHING that is not on the acceptable foods list. This is very important for success. Also remember, 12 - 15 of your daily 20 net carbs for the day should be coming from veggies & salads. Be sure to drink plenty of water and avoid diet soda & drink mixes.

I weighed myself because I was worried I was eating too much in this first 7 days...I lost 13 pounds...~! that is remarkable. I know it is mostly water...but stilll..I was very pleasantly surprised. I have been making sure to hit that 65% fat marker...and it really is important. Last time I did Atkins I was still afraid of fat from years of propaganda...and I did not really lose very much...I needed more fat! Anyway...very happy to learn of the loss. :carrot:
