Thanks Simona!

When did you have your surgery? Those bars sound good! I haven't had them before.

davematthewsband 11-21-2012 12:17 PM

Oh my gosh, Rho - AMAZEBALLS! I pray and pray to see a ticker dancing with delight like yours is now - enjoy this great accomplishment!!!!

I had surgery July 27th, 2011. Then I had gallbladder surgery June 2012 and that's when I regained weight [10lbs] and havent been able to lose it! Driving me nuts! I know it'll come off with Atkins :)

AnaBee 11-21-2012 06:16 PM

Steph!!!!!!!! *tackle hugs*. It's great to see you. And bubba (I've forgotten her name - Sloan?) looks so big!

CONGRATULATIONS RHO! Well done you!

And hi everyone :-)

StephanieM 11-21-2012 07:10 PM

Simona, stick to it and it will!

AnaBee!!! I'm glad to see you too! Sloane is getting big, she's almost 24 lbs, has 12 teeth, has been walking for almost two months, and will be 11 months old in 9 days!

AnaBee 11-21-2012 08:17 PM

Eek, I was almost right on her name :-)

She's such a cutie, I love the picture. I don't know where the year has gone, she was practically a newborn before it seems.

Simona, I've read that we gain a lot of water weight when we're sick or injured. Our bodies seem to like carrying it - it must help in some way. Your body might have been saying it didn't want to let it go, but I know it will come off for you now :-)

StephanieM 11-22-2012 09:59 AM

It just shows me how long it's taken me to lose this weight! I was thinking '9 months to put it on, 9 months to take it off' but I'm still 6 and a half lbs to my pre pregnancy weight.

I'm feeling pretty good since going back on Atkins :) I've had a nice clean induction, except for three nights I had some whiskey and diet coke. I do notice that it does slow down my loss a bit.

Today I'm at 170.4, so close to the 160's!!! I hope to be there in a few days :) I've lost just over 6 lbs this week, which motivates me to stay good. I know it will slow down to a lb or two next week so I have to get back into exercising to maximize my losses!

rho1640 11-23-2012 03:43 PM

Everyone is doing great - and we made it thru one of the major holidays here in the USA -- Yay us!

Believe me if I can do it anyone can - I think I am just out stubborning it ;)

Mara 11-23-2012 04:09 PM

A little late joining the Challenge, but I'm going to start off with a goal of 10 pounds. Hope its not too ambitious. :) I am still figuring out what works for me.

StephanieM 11-23-2012 05:58 PM

My weight bounced up a little today, as if my body was like 'Okay, your first week of induction is over, slow losses now!' Literally, right on the 7th day.

But that's okay. I also think I'm not going to kill myself this time. I'm going to my in laws tonight for dinner and I'm just going to make the best choices I can with what is available. I know it's turkey so it can't be that bad. I think being so strict in the past is what led to my constant cheats. I'll be good when I'm making my own meals but if we go over there I'll try to be a little lax but still on plan.

Ann1231 11-23-2012 10:45 PM

do you mind if I join in? I just got this site on app and can post easier! my birthday is New Year's Eve and I really want to lose some weight for my 50th year! I am starting induction tomorrow, November 24th. overall I need to lose 55 pounds. sounds overwhelming but dr. thinks Atkins is the way for me to do it.

The more the merrier, Ann! That sounds like a great goal :) My daughter's birthday is the day before yours.

171.0 today, I'm surprised it's lower than yesterday. My in laws were doing an 'American Thanksgiving' and I had a small amount of mashed potatoes and stuffing. My tummy has definitely been upset today though, I shouldn't have eaten any gluten. I did keep my carbs low for dinner, and I didn't eat very much of the 'bad stuff'.

I'm mostly excited about being close to being in the 160's. I've been so close for months and I'm ready to get there!

StephanieM 11-25-2012 09:19 AM

:cheer3::cheer2::woohoo::cloud9:I'M IN THE 160'S!!! 169.6!!!:cloud9::woohoo::cheer2::cheer3:

So happy!

Ann1231 11-25-2012 10:10 AM

I'm at 176 this morning. Had some carbs over Thanksgiving and oh my gosh, my lower stomach hurt so badly! I forgot how carbs affect me that way. I had an atkins shake this morning and I'm making taco salad, without the shell for me, for lunch. After the discomfort of the last couple of days, I am in no way tempted to eat carbs!!

StephanieM 11-26-2012 11:23 AM

Ann, same here! I'm Canadian but my in laws did an 'American Thanksgiving' dinner. I decided to have a small portion of stuffing and mashed potatoes and I definitely felt it the next day!

170.4 today, but that's okay! My weight will bounce up and down now, but as long as it keeps going more down than up I'm happy. I know I will see the 160's again soon ;)

I also had a Atkins bar and shake yesterday, we were at the ice rink watching my friend speed skate and I didn't have anything prepared. I had them as back up in case I was hungry and we did end up being there for about 3 hours. I know the bars might have stalled me in the past so I'm going to just eat clean this week and watch what my weight does.

davematthewsband 11-26-2012 09:32 PM

I have certainly not given up, but my purple ketosis sticks don't seem to be equating to weight loss at the moment. In fact, I'm up 5 lbs since my lowest (though that included about a month of higher-carb eating and some personal health issues). I definitely plan to stay the course and am surprisingly not super discouraged at this point (as I'm still less than 2 weeks into ketosis), but even though I'm in ketosis, I'm having a harder time curbing the little carb nibbles here and there, the glass of wine here or there - so truly not being back on Induction (and I know it all adds up). BUT, I made it through Thanksgiving dinner at a buffet banquet hall and truly only ate salad as my appetizer and brussels sprouts and pieces of turkey/ham/beef as my meal. Oh, but there was that delicious wine :-) Anyhoo, still exactly 5 weeks until the 31st. WE CAN ALL DO THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

rho1640 11-27-2012 09:25 AM

My body is being contrary - I go down then I go up and stay up hopefully to go down before Friday Dr appointment - I want to be at 100 down there!!!!

stupid body lol

Kyrren 11-27-2012 10:45 AM

I would like to join, if you don't mind. I am 195.2 today and would like to be at or below 179 by New Year's Day. I know 16.2 pounds is agressive and I will not be disappointed if it's say 185, but 179 is goal!

rho1640 11-27-2012 01:02 PM

Welcome it is never too late to join and the more the merrier

StephanieM 11-27-2012 03:28 PM

Rho, I know what you mean! I finally saw the 160's and haven't been back in the past few days. I want to be clearly in!

170.4 today again, but that's okay. I need to find the strap for my heart rate monitor, I'm going to start working out again tomorrow.

Kyrren 11-28-2012 03:21 PM

Down today 193.4! (-1.8)

StephanieM 11-28-2012 04:42 PM

Great job, Kyrren!

170.4 AGAIN! My body is liking this weight. Always seems to happen every 5 lbs or so.

BUT, I pulled out my heart rate monitor and played some Just Dance on the Wii and burnt 396 calories in 43 minutes. It felt good to work out :) Need to make it a regular thing to help speed up this weight loss.

Violet73 11-29-2012 09:27 AM

I started this thread and I've been MIA, but I'm back! I got off track. Idk why I let life events make me eat carbs. I have to break that carb addiction and comfort food meltdown reaction! LOL! I started back today and have everything ready to go. Kitchen is stocked full of foods I need to succeed and I'm going to make myself weigh weekly to keep on track!

StephanieM 11-29-2012 10:03 AM

Violet73, you should check in here daily for accountability :) I'm the only one here who checks in daily so it would be nice to have someone else!

I got out of 170.4 today after being that weight for 3 days! I'm 170.0. I'm thinking the exercise helped despite the fact I was bad last night. Friends came over and I had a glass of wine and then two whiskeys. My husband and I are tired from being up past 10 pm, haha. Of course Sloane had us up just after 5 am. I feel worse for him, he works today.

Hope all are doing well!

Kyrren 11-29-2012 03:15 PM

193.4 again today, ultimate boot camp for 53 minutes last night.

I will try! :)

170.4 again! Oh man. But I did have a taco salad for dinner last night and I know in the past my weight goes up or stays the same the next day when I eat those. It's quite a large salad with 3 cups of lettuce, two tablespoons of salsa and sour cream, 30 grams of tex mex cheese and 4 oz of ground beef.

Also, I'm nearing the end of this pack of birth control and my period will come sometime next week. I tend to slowly bloat about two weeks before hand so this may explain it.

Mara 11-30-2012 10:35 AM

Just a quick update on my 10 pound goal. I have lost six pounds so far, so four more to go. :D

Kyrren 12-01-2012 11:34 AM

191.2 yesterday
191.6 today

nice 1.8 loss (+ the other 1.8 = 3.6) whoohoo!

StephanieM 12-02-2012 11:07 AM

Good job, Mara and Kyrren!

I finally broke out of my mini plateu of being at 170.4 for almost a whole week and dropped down to 168.8 today :) I hope I can manage to stay out of the 170's from now on.

The funny thing is I went off plan for dinner last night and had a bit of sheppard's pie. I've also been working on increasing my calories to make sure I'm getting in about 1500 a day. I've also been exercising more :)

Kyrren 12-03-2012 12:21 PM

Nov 30: 191.2
Dec 1: 191.6
Dec 2: 190.8
Dec 3: battery dead on digitial scale :(

StephanieM 12-03-2012 05:15 PM

Today was horrible, 170.2 this morning, I failed my driving test at the very end (It was icy/snowy out and the light turned yellow. Felt I didn't have enough time to stop safely without sliding so went through it and it turned red just as I got to the other side, so automatic fail.), and I applied to come back to my old job since my year of maternity is up and they haven't gotten back to me.

Let's just say I've had some gluten free chocolate wafers today. But then I decided to turn it into a good day and found my old manager on Facebook and she talked to hiring about calling me for an interview.

Summer2010 12-03-2012 11:31 PM

I have been MIA since first posting in this challenge on nov 18th....I am cranky and tired and feeling sorry for myself (again). You guys are motivating me so much to get back on track....even though I get tired of tracking my carbs....so I am re-committing again for 15 lbs loss by Dec 31st on Atkins. Induction starts tomorrow.

Keep up the good work everyone :)

StephanieM 12-04-2012 09:39 AM

Summer, You just have to get out of that funk and look at it as a positive thing. If you eat on plan then you will lose weight, and losing weight will make you feel great!

170.4 today! Glad it's not worse. I think I might have to change my goal to 165 lbs since I'm such a slow loser though.

I ate completely off plan yesterday in my moment of self pity. I had a burrito, chocolate wafers, a wagon wheel, and bits and bites. But that was yesterday and today is a new day. I'm just kicking myself because I do *NOT* want to go through the Atkins flu again. Last time was especially rough.

Kyrren 12-04-2012 09:50 AM

Summer, Good luck on starting induction. You will do a great job!

Stephanie - Great job on getting back on board. Some days are just rougher than others the key is to brush yourself off and get back on track!

Nov 30: 191.2
Dec 1: 191.6
Dec 2: 190.8
Dec 3: battery
Dec 4: 192.6

I am certain my increase is from too much celebrating on my birthday and lack of exercise. However, I did not go off plan on eating! YAY!

sandyfanny 12-04-2012 10:00 AM

Hi everyone, I totally understand the "Mental Breakdown." I wrecked my car (ALL my fault), was injured but not too seriously, my mom died, and I sort of lost my mind. My track record hasn't been great on challenges, but I'd like to try this one. My goal is 10 pounds by New Year's...tricky over the holidays, but we can make it.

Summer2010 12-04-2012 08:35 PM

Sandyfanny--hugs for you. You are so strong!!!

Summer2010 12-04-2012 09:18 PM

Today was my first day on Induction and my net total of carbs was 20!!! I have been going to the bathroom non-stop!!! I can't wait to check my weight tomorrow morning....missed this feeling of not being stuffed with food and still enjoying great tasking food and not feeling guilty about it. Earlier in the evening I craved pretzels so bad but am okay now....more water and I am good for Day 1....

How is everyone else doing?

StephanieM 12-05-2012 06:48 PM

Summer, I pee like crazy too at the beginning too!

My cheat on Monday was so bad I knocked myself out of ketosis. Sticks have been negative since then and now today I'm getting the 'Atkins flu' again, and peeing like crazy. My weight this morning was 170.8 which makes sense since a cheat takes about two days to show on the scale for me.

This is my lesson, cheat and suffer the flu again and a delay in losses!

I'm feeling much happier though, ever since getting in touch with my old manager I got accepted to do the first round of assessment and today I got an email to do the second round. Next step after that is doing an interview for my old job! It'll be nice to go back to work after a year off. I really want to be in ketosis when I go back though, it's easier to concentrate on work when I'm not starving all the time.

Edit: Oh, and my period is due in a few days so I'm not expecting any great losses anytime soon.

StephanieM 12-06-2012 11:54 AM

169.0 and back into ketosis!

That was tough, man no more going off plan except maybe a little on Christmas and my birthday.
