NSV (Non Scale Victories)
I saw this post in another forum and I thought it would be great to have it here too.
Just because the scale doesn't budge, it doesn't mean that you are not winning the race against unhealthy habbits :) Here is my most recent one: Yesterday I came to pick up my kids, they were at my MIL house. She just made a fresh batch of warm, crunchy, delicious white bread :p, she told me to get some and I said "No", she insisted but I declined again... She later gave me a bag to take home anyways and my car just smelled like a bakery... I still didn't have it. The nice part is that it didn't take will power to say no, I just didn't see it worth it... :carrot: Thank you Atkins for let me eat, be full and not craving things all the time!! Love it!!!! What are your victories??? |
I've seen NSV on this website too. My most recent - going down one shirt size, 2x to 1x. Not a huge victory, but I'll take it!
|
Awesome CIE!!! SO happy for you :) Crunchy fresh bread is my weakness too :)
Yay, chickadee :) My recent NSV is my scrub pants falling off if I don't tie them. They were tight in May! |
My minor victory the past two days was putting on cotton shirts I've worn a million times and feeling a little extra room in them -like I wasn't conscious of them tight across my back and belly.

Two major NSV's
This morning in the shower I did not have to switch hands with the razor. For the past couple years during my recent gaining period, I started having to use my left hand to shave the outside of my left leg and ankle, but this morning without even thinking about it I shaved both legs with my right hand without stopping to gasp for breath :^:
I have been losing a little bit of weight all summer, well since last spring when I started working out at the gym, but when school was over and I was too low on gas money to get to the gym for some reason I continued to lose little bits slowly. That is probably why I finally felt that I could start a diet and eating style that would be healthy for me. Anyway, because I do not have a job and haven't been called do my normal volunteer stuff, I have spent all day every day in shorts and t-shirts. I figured I had lost enough that some of my lower wasted jeans would be too big (26 & 28), so I ordered a pair of size 24 jeans from OSP, they came Friday, I tried them on and although they probably wouldn't fall down like some of the others the butt and thighs were so big and baggy that I filled out the return form immediately. I had ordered them because I knew OSP ran a little big and I thought there was no way I could get into my old box of size 24 jeans. So after the shower thing today, I got out the old box of 24's and they all fit very comfortably, I am sure they wouldn't have a week ago. The scale is not trustworthy to me, because my weight fluctuates quite a bit from morning to night. Yesterday morning it swore I weighed 213.6 then last night it said 215.2 and this morning it 214, so I am not changing my ticker until the end of the two weeks and then it will be a noon-time weight, because I do not want to get my hopes up too much, but right now I am sort of geeked :cp: |
You guys are doing awesome!!
Another NSV for me: Wearing a pair of jeans that I haven't been able to put on for TWO years!!!:carrot::carrot: (yes, I keep all my "skinny clothes" in hopes of getting back there one day :D |
2 NSV's for me
1. Went down a pant size I actually fit - and fit well - into a new size.
2. In August I set a goal for myself to workout 27 out of 31 days. I worked out 26 days but 7 of them I did 2 workouts in a day. Wow... that feels good! |
26 days!! OMG! Way to go!! :cp::cp::cp::cp:
|
I put on a nightshirt i bought years and years and years ago -that was one size fits all -- AND IT FITS!! :carrot:
|
Today I got my first "Have you lost weight?". Yay!!!! And I'm only about 12 down and haven't lost anything in about a week and a half. But I still feel my body changing. I'm noticing it in clothes, etc. I just know the fat is melting off and I'm sure the scale will catch up soon. Still feeling great, rarely hungry other than meal times, can't always finish meals, and no acid reflux. Even if the scale isn't moving, I *know* I'm doing good for my body!!

You Are getting soooo Skinny
Cute... but had to laugh too. A co-worker saw me in the parking garage and said these words to me. It did make me feel good and I just said " Thanks so much for noticing". Although I know I am far from Soooooo skinny... it was a nice compliment.

This morning, I put on the pair of jeans I bought a few weeks ago. Without thinking, I buttoned them easily. When I bought them, they were tight. yay!
