Calories in flax

I've been having hot flax cereal occasionally for breakfast, usually about a half a cup. Love it, its a nice change from eggs. All I add is liquid sweetener, so its basically a free item if your only counting carbs. Just noticed the calorie count on it! Holy cow, a 1/2 cup is like 500 calories! Don't normally count calories, but I try to stay aware of them because weight loss is slowing down a bit. Anyway, flax is one of my favorite low carb items, now I'm wondering if I should have that much...thoughts?

Just curious as to what brand and if you can get it in the regular grocery stores? I might be interested in trying it later on down the road...

Hi, Just wondering - has your weight loss stalled? I kind of freaked when I saw the flax values too but I'm trying to tell myself it will be ok. I like eggs mixed with flax for a kind of pancake. Very filling & sustained.

Kell-be sure to get milled flax, I use golden flax by wildroot. I get it at walmart, in the cereal isle.
Heidi- I haven't stalled, weight loss has just slowed down and I'm scared of a stall. I try to use a little flax everyday, just don't want to overdo it.

I guess all we can do is watch and if we hit a plateau maybe adjust flax intake down for a bit. So far so good!
