I'm really pleased and impressed!
I'm in the middle of week two of Atkins (induction) and I have nothing but good stuff to say.
First of all, I was previously on another weight loss plan that was rather expensive and rather than allowing unlimited fat, it cut the fat to a minimum, which made it difficult to stick to and didn't allow for eating "real food" (just packaged stuff). While I lost a lot of weight, I have to say that the stuff tasted icky (at least in comparison to real food) and I didn't feel very well. Now that I'm following Atkins, I'm finding that I don't obsess about the next meal. I'm so stuffed from breakfast this morning that I have to remind myself that I need to eat! What's more, I had bacon and eggs! Seriously, bacon is beautiful! I've dropped 5 pounds in slightly over a week, which is wonderful. Regardless of that, though, I'm learning of the importance of proper nutrition. I'm sure there are tons of people who would laugh at that statement, but I've been doing as much research/reading as possible and what I've realized is that we've really been duped into believing that carbs are the body's preferred form of energy. I picked up a book called "Good Calories, Bad Calories" by Gary Taubs and it sites studies (that have been ignored over the years) that show the human body's preference for low carb, higher fat for fuel, etc... I totally recommend it for anyone that wants to understand the science behind why Atkins works so well. Anyways, that's my happy rant. Hope it is of use/help. :) |
You sound like me----I started on a LC and LF AND low calorie plan and I was STARVING constantly. Lasted 6 weeks. Now I am Atkins all the way. :) Enjoy!
