Cal Counting to Carb Counting?

Good morning!

I have always been a calorie counter, but moderately curious about the carb counting method. I'm thinking about making the switch since calorie counting has not really been working out for me lately.

Does anyone know if the switch will cause me to initially gain? I have the book, and plan to read it in its entirety before I attempt to begin, but was wondering if I should start to cut back the carbs from my low cal diet as a way of easing myself over.

Any help or advice is appreciated!

I definitely don't think you will gain. I was watching my calories last year for a about a month. I was hungry all the time, and the weight loss was very slow. I switched to atkins with no problems and wasn't hungry and was much happier. :)
Read the book and get started, you will love it!

Most people actually experience a drop once then switch to low carb because carbs make you hold onto a lot of water. Good luck!

Keep in mind that it takes 3500 calories to equal a pound. Increase your caloric intake by 3500 & you'll gain. Decrease it by 3500 and you'll lose.

I still count calories and carbs. I'm learning that the great thing about the Atkins program is that my sugar cravings are diminishing thus making it easier for me stick to my plan of 1500 cals/day.
