Heavy cream??

This is starting to confuse me...on induction I know you're allowed heavy cream and a friend told me as a "dessert" to make mousse out of heavy cream and you could even sprinkle some unsweetened cocoa powder in it...is this really okay though? If so, how much should you eat? After whipping up the cream, I think I had like 1/2 cup of it...I felt like i was cheating though :?:

That sounds yummy! Look at the nutrition info. I think my heavy whipping cream says 1 carb per tablespoon, so if it only took a 2 liquid tablespoons to make that half cup there would be 2 carbs in it. Then the cocoa is like 1 carb per tablespoon too. So with that basis 3 carbs for a yummy dessert like that as a treat doesn't sound bad. I know some people don't think sweets are good on induction but if it keeps you on plan and you are eating enough veggies I think you're good. :)

Let me know how much cream you used, I will have to try this!

Thanks!

i do this all the time. i can't speak for all the books, but the 2000 version says you can have something like 3oz of cream (don't quote me on that - i need to look up the exact number) as an occasional treat. just count the carbs and enjoy!

I use HWC with lemon crystal light. It makes a heavenly, lemonym treat. Some people here though, will caution about the crystal light because it has aspertame. I make it, and eat with no problem staying in ketosis.

I don't have my book with me, but I have the latest version and I'm pretty sure it's a recipe straight from the induction desserts page. I forgot all about it, thanks for the reminder : )

I use heavy whipping cream a lot -- I use it in coffee, to make whipped cream for fruit, and sometimes just to 'thicken' things. I know I personally use 1/4c. per day. AT LEAST! And so far, it hasn't stopped me at all. I mostly watch my cheese intake more than anything. That seems to be what slowed me last time!
