Breakfast ideas for induction??
I am getting pretty bored with my eggs. I am struggling coming up with anything besides omelettes with veggies in them. Anyone have any good ideas for some variety?

I don't know if this will help but my best friend has incredible results with Atkins going from 250 and the same height as you to 130 and has maintained (with a pregnancy inbetween) for over 7 years... Her biggest advise is and always has been, to remember there is nothing written in stone that says you have to eat eggs for breakfast. There were and still are many times that she would have a big salad with chicken on it for breakfast. She mixed up her meals and stopped looking at it as "breakfast" "Lunch" and "dinner" and instead it was "fuel the body time". It really seemed to help her.
I am actually going to be restarting induction on Monday. I have had some issues this last year and have put on some weight so it is time again. Gonna be a bit harder this time because my girlfriend moved out of town, but she is only an email or phone call away!! Good luck!! |
I'm not on adkins... but my favorite low carb breakfast is cottage cheese + a splenda + cinnamon! Sweet and yummy! And lots of protein!

I have eaten pumpkin for breakfast a few times. Just added splenda and cinnamon or pumpkin pie spice. I've tried it hot and cold. It was kind of weird at first, but I get really tired of eggs too.

I love to have sashimi, fish or shrimp for breakfast. Or some sausage and veggies. Sometimes I'll have some leftover steak and veggies.

I was just thinking this too... I like eggs but I can't eat them every day for the rest of my life. I'm still searching as the idea of salad for breakfast doesn't grab me either. Although I think I could ham or turkey and cheese rollups and they would quicker too some days then making my omelet.

I will give the meat/cheese roll ups a try. I am usually not that hungry first thing, plus I am almost always running late so I don't have much time for preparing / eating a salad.
I did try a "minute muffin" this morning though. I was very surprised by it. It isn't perfect, but has so much potential. I will have to play with the flavors and see what I can come up with. I even got my daughter to split it with me! Although she had jam on her half :-) |

I never get tired of eggs :)
No food is off-limits for breakfast..... Make a green bean casserole and have some of that! Make some soup, have that! Have some leftovers! Lettuce wraps! Absolutely anything low carb you can dream of, you can have for breakfast. Definitely don't feel limited. The (low carb) world is your oyster :) |
I have breakfast issues too, mostly because I get up so early that I can't face cooking or eating. The one minute muffin has been a good choice for me; I make them the night before (double the recipe so I don't have to make them every night), split them and take them to work in a zip-lock. I sometimes just eat a piece of cheese or drink an Atkins shake.
Once in a while, I get a low carb bowl from Hardee's drive-thru and eat it for breakfast and re-heat half of it for lunch. (They're huge.) Lots of low carb chicks drink a protein shake for breakfast, but I can't face that either. Not much of a morning person trapped in a morning person job! |
Some mornings on my way to work I stop at Tim Hortons and ask for a breakfast wrap, sans wrap. Everytime it is the same explanation- "I want the contents of a wrap in a bowl" and everytime I get the same blank stare. I just tell them I'm allergic to wheat and can't have the wrap. For some reason it makes it more willing to do it without looking at me like I have 7 arms...
This morning will be a McMuffin style minute muffin! Savory OMM with an egg, bacon, cheese and sauce all tucked in! Mmmm, I better get cooking! |
Jennifer, here's a thread at Low Carb Friends' site devoted to "Tweaking the One Minute Muffin." I've had decent results by adding a tsp. of pumpkin pie spice - recipe's on the "Recipes from 'What's for Dinner?'"

One thing I enjoy is when I have ground beef left over from the evening before I'll mix it in with my eggs as I fry them.

I used to make individual cheesecakes in muffin tins and eat those for breakfast with my coffee. The only caveat is be careful eating too much cheese. They are easy to keep popping in, one after another. And too much cheese binds you up.
The other option is individual pumpkin pies. These are less dangerous because they wont bind you up like cheese. |
I know its been mentioned and this is an old post but I have a MiM everyday! so yummy! I use more cinnamon than they say and its the best and keeps me filled up.
