Hello

  • Hi,

I started IP (ideal protein)last week and while it works I am having reactions to their food packs not to mention some are truly gag worthy. However, I will say my carb cravings are completely gone and I tested and I am in ketosis and have lost 7.5 lbs. But I can't do their food, my face flushes after eating them and I feel like my skin is crawling and I get headaches. So. I was thinking since I am already in ketosis can I just switch over to atkins? I'm guessing my time on IP could count for days on Atkins induction?

    Thanks!
  • My guess is YES on Induction spot on Atkins.

I am new to Atkins - i was calorie counting then my husband went to the doctor earlier this week and said he MUST go on low carb (he put him on blood pressure med's and it scared him so he's serious) so, I decided to join him and so far so good.
  • I think you should do a clean Atkins Induction and count it as day 1. Have you read the book? Most people who have a lot of weight to lose tend to stay on Induction until they get down lower so their weight loss doesn't slow.
  • I have read the book a few years ago, I will pull it out and reread it. The reason I never succeeded on it before was my constant need to replace my sweets and when I did with artificial sweeteners I just felt deprived and angry so I figured I just wasn't meant to low carb. But now that my sugar cravings are entirely gone I don't even want anything sweet, real or fake. It is amazing to me. I am so relieved to be free of those constant cravings and blood sugar swings, honestly I imagine that is what a recovered drug addict feels like!

My husbands cardiologist also endorses the low carb life style. More of a south beach than atkins but my husband doesn't need to lose weight, just keep his. LDL very low.
