I have been on it since Monday and it is putting me quickly into ketosis. I will add in the veggies next week and try one total protein day each week. I have been trying to get back on the diet many times and could not stay with it over 2 days. I am now into day 4 and I think this has been a good way to get started.

I hope you keep posting your progress/results. I find the plan fascinating - especially since Dr. Dukan does stress a lot that his plan is a LIFESTYLE change much like Atkins. It's not a quick fix like many people think low-carb is.

I agree with SandyFanny - I'm all for whatever works for people to get the weight off and be healthier :)

Hi all, I stuck with the French diet for one week. That was all I could take. But it did get me going and I find I am more careful with my carbs and drinking my water. I introduced veggies this week and small amounts of butter and cream. Wow did they taste good! Now I am trying to decide which day for a total protein day each week just to keep on track. I don't see how anyone could stay on the French thing for long!

Elstyle, how much did you lose in your week on the "French"? I'm just curious; I don't think I could do it for a day.

Hi sandy,
I lost 7 pounds, but I know a lot was water weight. The good thing is that losing that helped me have more energy! So now I am doing Atkins induction and I felt like I got a good start. I was very glad to get to induction!!!

Congratulations on your weight loss! I'll bet Atkins Inductions is down-right delicious...welcome.

Hi- I've been away form 3fc for a few weeks but I'm on the Dukan Diet. It's not really that awful. Its about as bad as creating a new habit of eating. Which you also have to do for Atkins. yes they are similar. If you see other posts about Dukan you'll find that I'm not super strict to the T to the rules but I have lost a considerable amount of weight this year. I went off plan for the last few weeks but now I'm back in with both feet! :)

I live in Paris & the Dukan thing has been big here for several years - well, at least selling a lot of books and magazines, I don't know anyone personally who has followed it.

Personally, I find a general low carb (high fat) diet really easy to live with here in France since the food is pretty easy to find at any decent restaurant and it means not having to pass up all the sauces & cheese... Good luck finding real low-fat food at a French restaurant.

Like some of the others said, I feel that if it works for you, that's great, but for me the whole benefit of the lower carb way of eating is that you are eating foods that are satisfying and taste good (because of the fat).
