I Cheated!

Well, after 7 1/2 weeks of staying strong...except for the Bacardis and Diet Cokes 2 or 3 times...I finally cheated. I went to see Alice in Wonderland with the family and I have never went to a theatre without eating popcorn. I was hoping to find something low-carb to snack on, but of course there wasn't. So, I caved and bought a regular popcorn, chocolate coated almonds (M&M's) and a diet coke. I did only eat half the bag of popcorn...if that's any consolation...lol.

So, how will such a cheat affect me? I know it will throw me out of my "fat burning" phase, but for how long? I am back on track immediately, so I'm guessing 3-5 days to get back into the happy zone. I have 36lbs gone so far, and I'm not ready to mess that up...good thing I only go to movies every couple of months.

My next movie I'll sneak in some of my own goodies...

i actually went to the movies thurs night and according to amc nutrician info (not sure how accurate it is) says small bag of buttered is 6g with 8.4g dietary fiber (is that even poss?) ... i have the keytone strips and next am still said in ketosis ...poss because it's oil popped and not air ?? ...the almonds on the other hand are a whole diff story but we're all human and it's bound to happen...my downfall was three weeks ago it lasted for the weekend and i was able to jump back on and keep going. no point in beating yourself up it won't help just back on track and move forward or should i say downward :)

Bummer - i COULD HAVE HAD POPCORN? I just came back from the movies and for the first time ever, did not have popcorn. I took a big string cheese and snuck in a bottle of water. However after the movie I had wings (no breading, no sweet sauce- justspicy) and 3 Mich Ultras (2.6c each). Why is alcohol totally off limits? I guess cheated toog

Alcohol is off limits on Atkins Induction because although, the alcohol may be low in carbs, your body will work to burn the alcohol before it will burn fat. That being said, alcohol is not totally off limits on Atkins, it can be added back during OWL....rung 5 of the carb ladder (according to the older versions of the book...not sure what Atkins Nutritionals is pushing these days in the new book).

Ok- thanks for the explanation! That makes sense!

Jason,

It should only take you 1-3 days to go back into ketosis. Even when you first go into induction, it only takes 2-3 days to burn up the stored glycogen and go into fat-burning mode. It will only take around 2 days or even less to go back into fat-burning mode.

That is a bummer. But all you have to do is get on the wagon again. Good idea to bring your own treats to the movies. Saves a lot money. Good luck.

Saves a lot money.

Boy, is that the truth! That movie theater food costs a small fortune.

Too bad they don't have the drive-ins like they had when I was growing up. We would just carry all our own food in....stashed in the car. And then us kids would get up on the roof of the station wagon and eat and watch the movie.

(Of course, when I got into my teens, the drive-in was for making out so you stayed in the car......and missed most of the movie...hehehe..:D)

I wouldn't feel too bad about it! Just get back on the horse and ride!

I was soooo close to cheating a couple of days ago, and I don't even know why. I did cheat a little in terms of going slightly over my daily carb count, but I cheated with low carb foods instead of really bad ones. I still feel edgy today, but I'm determined to break into the 140s THIS WEEK, no more playing around.

You have probably not done a lot of damage, and with your metabolism you should be back in burning mode within a few days. :)

I'm not too worried...as long as I don't get cocky and make this a habit. I just figured I'd confess...lol...that popcorn was good though. The scales were good to me though...probably due to overindulging on Bacardi Friday night to the point of getting sick. My alcohol tolerence had diminished propotionately to my weightloss...lol...eating only a salad prior didn't help much.

Probably too much info...thanks for the replies and advice!! I'm down to single digits!

SaskNewfie 03-21-2010 06:39 PM

Looks like the damage was minimal...according to my strips, I'm still in ketosis...I'll consider this my freeby...

firefly68 03-21-2010 07:12 PM

I'm actually just a tad jealous.

Okay... maybe two tads.

SaskNewfie 03-21-2010 07:24 PM

I would have been happy to share yesterdays hangover with you...lol.

firefly68 03-21-2010 08:07 PM

Oh well! Nevermind that then. ;) I suppose I feel much happier with my lot now.

So- if you see something as above for the popcorn, is it ok? Anyone know?
