Are you moving on to OWL or are you going to do an extended Induction? |

I think I am going to add more veggies and see what that does for me. That is the first rung of the ladder into OWL so I suppose yes I am moving into OWL.

Great Job Katieloumagoo! I am right in the middle of my induction. Still trying to work out the kinks in my plan and organize my foods.
I am happy that you made it this far, keep going! |
Great job, katielou!! :carrot:
Like Kim, I have stayed on induction the entire time with just a few very minor variations/additions....like some nuts. I'm also a bit more liberal with the amounts of low-carb veggies I'm eating. I'm not totally sure about this...but I THINK that if I'd had, let's say, several hundred lbs. to lose, I might have done it the slower way and used the OWL rungs. But because I could get the constant positive reinforcement, I preferred to stay on induction and not slow it down for anything. At this point, after all these months of induction, I feel that I could literally eat this way forever. I maintained for about 12 years after using Atkins back in the 90's....and I'm hoping I'm going to have an even easier time maintaining this time. I find that issues like cravings, huge appetite, etc....are not such big problems for me now that I've gotten a lot older. deena :) |
:carrot:Congratulations, you are doing great! And the best part is that you feel so much better!
I feel a million times better now that I've cut out the simple carbs, too. It's amazing how much more energy you have, isn't it? And how much less bloated you feel? It's like a miracle if you ask me! Again, congratulations, and I know you will reach your goals! Woo hoo! |
WTG Katieloumagoo!! I finished my 1st 2wks this Saturday & am down 12lbs :broc:
I'm with you Katie & Lori - totally amazed with all the energy & NO bloating (especially with TOM last week)!! One Atkins bar a day is enough to satisfy my craving for something "carb-like". The only thing I miss is my blueberries & apples. Oh well, there will be a time & a place for that right! - but right now, it's time to lose keep on losing weight & get that daily positive reinforcement (like Deena said) so I'm gonna continue with induction. /cheryl ================================================== ======== Short term goal - Jan 29/2010 - fit into purple dress for hubby's gala @ 215lbs Mid term goal - Feb-May 2010 - lose 2lbs/wk = 30lbs/4mths, new house=new life @ 185 Long term goal - Jun-Aug 2010 - lose 2lbs/wk by my birthday = new me @ 170lbs!! Right now, I've lost 12 pounds in 12 days, which is amazing, on this diet, but understanding how the water weight, glycogen thing works now (read the information up above the boards and learned a lot!) I know that the next few weeks will likely mean a stall for me as far as the scale goes.
And I'm fine with that. I've prepared myself mentally to know that for perhaps the next four weeks, there won't be any downward movement of the scale, as my body readjusts with the water situation, etc. That that is a normal part of this process and absolutely to be expected. When the scale stops going down, I won't stop low-carbing. I will continue on because low-carbing makes me feel wonderful. And also I have trust in Dr. Atkins and his system, and know that after the one month stall time, the scale will start moving downward again, maybe a pound a week on average or so. I think it's really important for those of us who have seen big losses at the start of this WOE, to be psychologically prepared for the stall weeks that will naturally come after this big loss, and to commit ourselves to continuing this WOE, even if the scale doesn't move for a month. I'm completely committed to this WOE, even if I don't lose even one more pound the next 4 weeks. How about you guys? :) |
I am for sure! Today was teh end of week 3, I weigh myself tomorrow and while I am anxious to see what it says I refuse to let that scale bum me out if it shows nothing lost. I have been using my tape measure and I am losing inches. It is happening! :carrot:

NB. During the 1st 2weeks, I ate only proteins & green veggies - Now that I'm in week 3, I've start having 1 bar when I'm working evenings (every 2nd day) late in the afternoon b/c supper's at 6:30 /cheryl |

I started low carb eating after reading Gary Taubes "Good Calories, Bad Calories" because his hypothesis just made sense. I've lost some weight - and much more easily than I have in the past. But I stick with low carb eating because I feel so much better. That's what I call a positive-reinforcement cycle! |
