Hey guys!!!
I posted here a while back and just wanted to post again cause I'm considering following a low-carb plan. I lost about 30 pounds a few years by following a low-carb plan and felt great! Of course, I went back to my old ways like a dummy and gained it all back and now I'm even more overweight because I have to take prednisone sometimes and it makes me eat everything in the house!!!!!!!!!!!
So, here I am...230 pounds and miserable. I bought Wendy Chant's book on Cracking Fat Loss...the first week is the deplete week where you limit carbs. Later, you add in carbs. I just started this yesterday and already I feel good. I also try to avoid gluten as breads, cereals, pasta, etc make me feel bloated and sluggish. So, what I'm thinking is that I need to do just low-carb again. I feel best on it and its easy to follow. Also, with having to take prednisone...I can feel satisfied on this by having all the proteins available to eat. So, I guess I just wanted to introduce myself (again) to you guys and I am open to any recipes you like personally! I have some low-carb sites with recipes that I like but maybe some of you have some recipes I haven't tried before! BTW, anyone here doing the Biggest Loser Challenge here or watch the show? The new season starts tonight and I am excited! :carrot: |
I've done low carb from about the 2nd week of December. It's now only one month and I can see serious changes in my body fat-- my pants are loose, my breasts are smaller, my butt, and my stomach are shrinking and I am starting to see cheeckbones again! That's just after one month! I really feel that this time I will be sucessfull. Since I am actually seeing results, I am more motivated.
I am NOT going to get fat again, so I will not ever change my new eating habits. Basically it is No sugar, No refined carbs, and No starchy vegetables. If I let myself slip it will be to have carrots or beets, not potatos or pasta. My whole family ends up diabetic, and I'll bet genetically, I am very sensitive to any kind of carb. -- I am at least treating it that way-- like I had just found out I got "allergic" to carbs one day. That makes turning them down easy. I had cravings for potato chips, but did not give in, and as gross as it sounds learned to like pork rinds (chicharones). They are great with sour cream and chives or salsa. I eat salsa a lot-- the no corn or beans type. Salsa is a really good condiment with eggs and meat. I love canned black or white soybeans (www.edenfoods.com) for when I crave chili or a bean dish. For Chocolate, I get bitter 100% baking chocolate and sweeten it with stevia (hate artificial sweeteners). Stevia can be found in the sweeteners Truvia, and PureVia and other forms. The taste is different, but easy to get used to. One thing I have found is that I just am not hungry. I only have to eat a small meal. I have even eaten one meal a day and have felt no bad side effects. |
hey thats great you are losing and can tell a difference in your body! Have you weighed to see how much you lost or are you going by how your clothes fit you instead of scales?
Hey pork rinds are great...they helped me out when I did this before...and I may buy some again. I really love a few fresh strawberries in summertime also....they are low carb also. I have to eat a few times a day to keep my metabolism going so the once a day thing doesnt work for me. I hope you will find time to eat more on those days :) |
