what to do??
To start: Last week I started doing the atkin's like its supposed to be done....veggies and meat...well more veggies. And the needle on my scale started moving. I lost 2 lbs last week. :carrot:
Now to my question: I have 1 lb to where I'll be 10 lbs from my goal weight. I know Atkin's suggests increasing carbs 5g's (once you're 10 lbs from goal) so you'll start losing slower or 2 lbs a week till you hit your goal. Well what if that's the rate of speed I'm in right now, on the induction phase. Should I increase my carbs or stay on the induction till I'm 5 lbs from my goal? I'm still unsure about keeping my goal at 130 or to lower it to 125. I was 130 before gaining all the weight so I already know what I'll look like. But I was thinking of going down to 125 and build muscle so that I'll be 130. Does that make sense or does it sound weird. LOL :listen: |
Same Boat :)
I'm about 7 lbs away from the "10 lbs to my goal" mark (losing around 2 lbs per week), and I have been wondering the same thing.
I have been doing induction quite a bit longer than 2 weeks and I'm a little nervous about adding 5 carbs per week at this point. I'm not sure if it is necessary... then again, I am not sure how many more carbs my body can take before my weight loss a) stalls or b) I gain. I'll be following this thread to see what others think, I'm at a bit of a loss - good luck. |
The purpose of Atkins OWL is to find your personal carb threshold....the number of carbs you personally can continue losing at or maintaining, whichever the case may be. This should be done rung by rung of the carb ladder 5 additional carbs at a time for at least a week per rung to determine how your body responds. OWL provides more variety. I personally have always kept my carb's low but....not necessarily with only Induction foods.

Rachel, if I'm reading your ticker right, sounds like the debate of 130 vs 125 is going to wait for a year or so -- congratulations! Happy & healthy 9 months to you!
