There seems to be some confusion regarding the book & the Atkins website. Basically, since Dr. Atkins demise in 2003...Atkins Nutritionals Inc. has taken over and things have changed considerably.
If any of you have visited the Atkins website, you will immediately notice Atkins products (shakes & bars) being strongly marketed. If you read the labels on these products, it states they are suitable for Induction. This is very unfortunate because if you read the ingredients on both those Atkins shakes & bars...neither are suitable for Induction. Milk, Soy, Peanuts....ummm, not one of those are on any acceptable foods list I've ever seen.
The Atkins bars are advertised as 2 or 3 net carbs...but...if you research the listed nutritional information, those carb counts just don't add up
I found an article that accurately explains the calculations...http://www.phlaunt.com/lowcarb/19059967.phpMany of you are confused about which Atkins book you should be reading. Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 or prior editions. For the original plan, you would use Dr. Atkins Diet Revolution 1972.
I can not stress enough the importance of reading the book cover to cover before you begin Atkins to fully understand how & why this plan works.
If you must refer to a website for Atkins information, I strongly suggest you avoid atkins.com and refer to Veronica Atkins (Dr. Atkins wife) website...http://www.veronicaatkinsfoundation.org/
Feel free to post often & ask lots of questions, this is a great place for advice, support & encouragement!
You CAN do this!!
All the best to all of you!!!
