Default Staying On Phase 1??

Has anyone stayed on Phase 1 longer than the recommended 2 weeks? I'm wondering if the good doctor wrote the diet for people who only had about 20 or 30 lb to lose. What about those of us who need to lose 100+? I lose weight very slowly to begin with and if I start adding back carbs now, it just might come to a dead halt or be so slow that I'll get discouraged and quit.

I have to admit that I'm dying to have something like oatmeal or multigrain toast for breakfast instead of eggs, eggs, EGGS. I don't like them much to begin with and no matter how I try to disguise them, they are still eggs.

For those who started SB with over 100 lb to lose, and have enjoyed success on it, I'd like to know if you stuck with Phase 1 longer than 2 weeks or did you switch to Phase 2? If so, which carbs did you add back in at first?

I'm feeling so good on Phase 1. Not hungry at all and with more energy than I've had since I was on Atkins but I would like more variety in my menus. I'm just so scared of changing what is working for me, allbeit slowly.

Phase 1 isn't balanced enough to support your health long term, and a lot of dietitians recommend avoiding it and going straight into P2. You might be interested in the unofficial phase 1.5 It's just what it sounds, somewhere between the two phases. Darn, there's thread on it but I can't find it right now.

Hee! I love Phase 1.5. I kind of rotate days; some days are Phase 1, some days are Phase 2, and some are Phase 1.5. On Phase 1.5, I eat 1-2 servings of Phase 2 carbs a day. Usually a piece of fruit or a piece of whole wheat bread. I try and eat them later in the day so I don't set myself up for cravings. I also eat my carbs with a little protien; ie, a little peanut butter on my apple, etc.

I do recommend eventually switching to Phase 2. Just do it sllooooowwwwlllyyyy. The biggest mistake I made my first time doing SBD was going from 0 to 60 on the Phase 2 foods.

And as far as I know, there's nothing wrong with rotating weeks. 1 Week Phase 1, 1 week phase 2, etc.

Good luck!

Thanks for the tips. WHat a good idea to do alternate days of Phase 1 and 2 for a while just to see how the old bod reacts.
