Default Recipe ideas

I'm hoping a few people out there will have some ideas for me - as a student, I spend soooo much time studying during semester that I don't really have time to cook properly. I just buy stuff to shove in the oven, not always the best choice but I figure it's got to be healthier than a takeaway or just chocolate! I've just realised though that after my exam next week, I'm pretty much a free agent till February, so I'll have enough time to cook properly and hopefully boost my weight loss. I've spent so long buying ready meals etc that I can't think of anything proper to cook.

I'm not the most accomplished in the kitchen, and not the biggest fan of most vegetables. I love sweet potatoes, pasta bakes, fish and mild tomatoey curries but have never tried things like chickpeas, and I only really eat white meat. Every now and then I make stews and soup but the stew is for my boyfriend (I'm not really into that). Does anyone have any ideas for relatively simple cheap stuff that would help me with my diet? I'm not following a particular plan or anything, and I'm happy to look up recipes on the BBC website or something, I'm just looking for some pointers as to what to try. Any help would be most appreciated!

Here are some links:

I like those two. I found this one online just now, it looks interesting:

Good luck! Once you get into the habit of cooking, it becomes easier and some dishes don't take very long to make but are great!

Wanna - take a look at the UK chicks recipe thread which Veggie (our moderator) has stuck at the top of the UK Chicks index page. I've put some easy recipes on it and so have other people.
