Success with SlimFast #9, start 09/19/2001
The other thread takes too long to open.
I haven't posted much lately and apologize. I have been using (SlimFast that is).
I had guests last weekend and it took me two weeks to get ready so I didn't post much.
Someone said awhile back they buy a different brand of drink than SlimFast at Wal-Mart. What is the name? I didn't see anything that said it was a Wal-Mart brand?????

I have never tried the fruit juice slimfast. I think it has soy in it and soy makes me sick. But I am not totally sure if it is the soy kind or not.
I stick with the vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. I get tired of vanilla the fastest its is like sugared milk. ugh. I like strawberry in the morning and chocolate at lunch because it is thicker (well, at least I think it is).
I bought a can of powder about 1-2 weeks ago. It is a better value. It makes alot more and is only like a dollar more. I like how I can mix it with rice milk and water, and ice.
I will look into the fruit kind this weekend when at Walmart.
Well not much more to report on.

Hi everyone. I get the Wal-Mart version and it is called Equate weight loss shake. It is about $1 less a case than Slimfast. It also has a lower fat content. I like them very much.
I don't know about the powders because I prefer the cans but I really don't like the fruit flavors. I just don't care for the texture. I do kind of like the pineapple orange blended with an orange and ice or light vanilla ice cream. But i usually just get the chocolate and strawberry. The Equate ones only come in Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry so far.
I'm doing ok maintaining but am not loosing since it's my TOM. I usually don't loose during because of the water retention. But I expect to see an improvement next week.
I did do some bench presses last night. Boy 65 pounds is getting easy guess it's time to up the weight!
Hope you-all are doing great. If not hang in there!

Hi!
I'm new to this thread.
I am starting my SlimFast diet *officially* tomorrow. I started it a while ago, but got pregnant and stopped immediately. Now, I'm five weeks postpartum and ready to start up again!
This week, I have been walking every day (I didn't *officially* go walking today, but I did go shopping at Wal-Mart lol - had to get my stuff for tomorrow ).
I'm looking forward to chatting with you all!

Hi, Sarah!
We both must have August babies! I had my third child August 17!
I didn't gain at all this time around...I actually lost. My first pregnancy, I gained 13lbs..then with my second, I gained two pounds...with this one, the morning I went into labor, I weighed 193 (pre-pregnancy 197 - and fighting to not go over 200!). I weighed myself about two weeks later, and was totally astonished to see '176.5' on the scale!
I have 45 more pounds to go to get to my goal weight of 130...and with three kids, those shakes are super easy! It is no hassle at all during the day - I don't have to worry about eating 'toddler' food or making something separate for myself lol!
Looking forward to getting to know you better!!!

Hi girls!
Welcome Kennedy and Hilary!!
Kennedy -- I was so hungry at first, and after several weeks the shakes finally started to make me feel full. What a relief. I now eat smaller meals overall, thanks to the ole stomach shrinking down some.
I am suffering a sore knee so my running is going to have to go on hold. I will still run 1-2 days a week but will stop if I feel pain. I will walk though in return. I think I twisted my knee at my MIL's house a couple weeks ago
I am on a drinking binge, now too. Which is great!! Not that type of drinking I am talking water and crystal light. I have been carrying a gallon jug around. I will try to stay as water logged as possible, so I have no desire to snack. So far so good.
I am a drinker. I love to drink beverages, so this might be right up my alley.
I made chicken and noodles yesterday Yummy! I am going to can and freeze some of them for a cold winter's day.
Well, I guess I need to run,
Cowgirl -- You can bench press a lot, is that 65lbs with the bar or without the bar? Wowwee either way.

Hi everyone!
I brought my mini drink mixer (hand blender) to work to mix my shakes, what a difference in the taste and texture after a little swirl with a blender.
I did so good yesterday. I did have a late night snack. You will be so proud of me, light cottage cheese and 4 peach slices (they were from a can). So I got my snack, it had something sweet in it, and it was good for me. And there were Reese's Cups in the fridge right next to my cottage cheese. My sabotager hubby bought those.
Cowgirl -- you know how I love to depend on canned foods But then don't we all?
Oh well not much else to report, still eating up those chicken and noodles. I guess I should can a jar or 2 tonight. Can you freeze Ball mason jars?

Ok to answer th questions.
1 yes that is 65 pounds with the 15 pound bar. It sounds better to say 65 than 50 and anyway I really am lifting 65. To me it seems like not that much since I used to bench 120. Sill I am pretty tough for a chubby girl!
2 yes you can freeze mason jars but be very sure to leave a 2 inch head space to allow for expansion or you'll have a big mess in your freezer. Though it will at least be a frozen mess!
I am all over the place with my diet. I had some guests this week and we ate out a lot. Now I am having some trouble geting it back under control. I am going through the munchie stage again. It does not help that it is cold and rainy so I just want to curl up in a blanket with a book and something warm. I'm making stuffed pepper soup tonight. Yum! It's good to work in a resturaunt. You learn lots of good recipies that way!
Well hope you all are doing well and if not, well, just keep trying.

Either way 65lbs for a girl is alot. I can generally lift the bar and up to an extra 10-20lbs. Depending on whether or not I have been working my chest. It has been a while for me so I might be lucky if I can lift the bar right now.
Stuffed pepper soup? Yummy that sounds REAAALLY good. Maybe we should start a recipe thread
I also find it hard to stick with things after going out to eat, why is restaurant food more appealing, maybe the change in scenery and atmosphere? Plus I am really bad about shake drinking on the weekends. I usually will drink one, or make a monster shake for both breakfast and lunch and tote it around with me. I tend to eat less on the weekends because we run errands constantly. So I completely understand. Just keep nagging yourself, or do what I do force yourself.
I have avoided the dreaded Reese's cups in my fridge for 3 days now. It is a miracle
I will get me a canning book this weekend and maybe try to can something, now that I know. Thanks!
Well off to work I go!

Hey wheres everybody been? Sorry I have not posted in a while. I have been bussy helping some friends who are moving here from CT. Diet has not gone too well latly. I have really been bad! Between worrying about my friends moving and my TOM and a bad head cold all I want is good old comfort food. I have tried not to get too out of hand and have at lest been able to maintain my current weight. Hopefully after my friends get moved I'll be able to get a handle on things again.
So how is everyone else out there? Come on even if it isn't going well right now we still need to support each other. I know we are approaching what is for most of you the hardest time of year for dieters. As I do not celebrate holidays it is not too bad for me. So keep poasting and lets help each other throught the tough times!

Hi all,
I have a thread going called Doin' it the old fashioned way that I usually post on-calorie counters.
I thought I would start posting here also, because I count calories, but with that I usually use Slim-Fast for 1 or 2 meals a day because I have a 3 year old and a 6 month old son, and it is easier.
I got up to 200 pounds after my dughter, and got down to 158, a month later I got pregnant with my son! He is worth it, but I look awful!
I am down 2 pounds now, 198, and want to get down to 150, or about a size 12.
My favorites are Slimfast ready to drink Chocolate Royale, Dark Chocolate Fudge, and Cappucino. I also like the bars in Chocolate Peanut and Oatmeal Raisin.
I am 25 years old-26 next week, and I love painting, sewing, crafts, and interior decorating. I also love music and reading dark books like Stephen King and Thomas Harris.
Would love to join your group!
Aphil

Hi Aphil! Glad to have you. I am 31 and I put on most of my weight after I got married. Still I was prety fit and did not start worrying untill my dear husband died almost three years ago. Depression acompanied by eating too much and doing next to nothing packed on a lot of weight and I also lost a lot of muscle from lack of use. I am hoping to get back to about 180 or so. right now i'm hovering at 170-175 and have been using Slimfast for about a year and a half. I started loosing weight at 320! I kept telling people that I was happy as a fat girl but it was just to cover my embarrasment. I was just plain huge! I got pretty depressed when I could not get up on my horse and that is when I finally got myself in the dieting mode. I feel so much better and can't wait to loose the rest. I started Slimfast because it was the easiest thing to take to work for lunch and still be healthy. I was hooked when I lost ten pounds in just a couple of weeks. Now it goes off much slower but I can see myself getting slimmer and more toned every week. I also Horseback ride and weightlift for excersise. my job is also sort of an arobic workout for about an hour or two each day. You would not believe how many calories you burn tending a salad bar! And the added benefit is you really get sick of looking at food! I also like to draw and paint horses. Look forward to hearing more from you.

HI,
Nice to meet you Cowgirl!
You all will have to bear with me for a while, I am used to all the names on my thread, and it will take me a while to get to know you all.
Are any of you keeping track of your weight chart on the Slim-Fast site? I also do not like the fruit flavored ready to drink and I emailed them and told them I thought they were too vitaminy tasting and too thick for a juice drink, but how much I enjoy the milkshake flavors and the bars-they sent me $1 coupons of either boxes of bars or 6-packs, $1 coupons off powder, and 25* coupons off single bars! If there is a product you don't care much for, let them know!
I remember when SLim-Fast first became popular when I was a litle girl-they only had the shake powder, and they also had hot cocoa mix-my mom used it and we went to aerobics together-those were the legwarmer and headband aerobics days! (Think Jamie Lee Curtis in "Perfect"! LOL )
Well I have a million things to get done,
Bye all,
Aphil
