S/C/G: 246/147/150 WW Goal

Height: 5'5"

Question How did you determine your goal weight?

I've been doing ww since 8-8-06 at home, and about 2-3 weeks less that that for the meetings. I haven't spoken to my leader yet about a goal weight, but figure it's coming within the next month or two. I believe they talk to you after you've met your first 10%? Anyway, how did you determine your goal weight? I've checked the BMI's and the recommended height/weight charts and am a little unsure of what I've read! According to the charts my ideal weight would be 112 pounds. In high school I was what they called "slender". Thin but shapely and curvy, know what I mean? I weighed 125, and wore a size 5 in jeans. I can't imagine what I would have looked like at 13 pounds less than that.....the term "skinny" comes to mind (and not in a good way!). Now, 20 years and two kiddos later I can't even begin to imagine looking good at 112 pounds.

Wow-112? at 5'4? You'd be a size 0!!!!
I figured my goal weight prepregnancy (unfortunately, I was also a little girl at 16 at the time!) and comfortable. I would be quite happy around 120-125, but I dont want to set my standards higher than I think I can go.

I say you figure a time you were most happiest with your weight, and adjust it from there.

They usually don't talk to you until you are within a few pounds of the high end of the W/W 'weight ranges.' And then some leaders don't come to you they wait until you go to them.

I picked a size and style of jeans I wanted to fit in and when I could get them buttoned and zipped (even very tight) I set my goal about 5 pounds less than what I weighed at that point.

Your range would be around 112-145 (min/max for all ages). I am also 5'4" and my goal weight is 150. I look awesome at that weight and feel comfortable.

While it is outside the W/W range I still was able to become lifetime because my doctor agreed and wrote a note that W/W accepted.

Thanks, girls! I looked at that 112 and thought "no way!!!". I've also heard my mom say my whole life that I'm big boned. Well, I also found a websight yesterday (can't remember it now, though, LOL) that told you how to measure your elbow to see if you have a small, medium or large frame. I fall into the upper end of the small frame. I think I will wait quite a bit longer to make the goal weight decision, and see how I look and feel along the way!

I know the first time I hit goal I was 123 lb because that's where my body was happy and I maintained that easily. Now after baby I'm getting back to goal again and I know my body has changed and it's been some time since I was 123 lbs. So, I chose to go for the top of the goal range at 128 lb.

So, in a nutshell - it's basically how you feel at the weight you chose and how easy it is to maintain. For example if you did choose 112 and found that every time you came close you would bounce up to 115 or 120 then maybe that is the weight you body should be at the 115 or 120.

Hope that helps

I was 135lbs. in high school. Now at 46 yr's old and 2 kids later, I thought 14 would be reasonable and give me a BMI of 22. I'd secretly still like to see 135 if only for a day, but it isn't something maintainable for me. I'm at 138 this morning and have been down to 137 but tend to always bounce right back to 141. I just think the 140-145 range is where my body can handle maintaining at. I am comfortable with my weight now and don't feel pressure to lose more.

I believe my range for my height is 135 to 164. I hit 145 a year and a half ago and was very happy with how I looked and felt, and I think going much lower wouldn't be healthy or look good on me.

I have no idea as to how to come up with my goal weight. I have been saying 160. But WW says I should be 134-141. I guess once if get to 160 I will determine if I need to loose more. Only time will tell.

My ideal weight according to BMI charts is 92-123. I'm 4'11". I think that is reasonable. When I was younger I was 130 and was chubby. The lowest I have been in my adult life is 149 and definitely needed to lose more weight. My goal weight is between 110-120. I will get to 120 then make a decision. Being that my heighest weight was 278 some people in my life had a hard time accepting this goal weight because at 149 I looked so small. But I need to be in a "normal weight" range on the BMI charts for me to feel okay and 149 ain't it.
