Hi Everyone –
I’m new here but I’ve been seriously trying to lose weight since May. I have been very dedicated and successful thus far but am really excited to join this forum and get some support. I’ve been reading though some of the post and you all sound like wonderful people. Anyways I just want to say hi.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I am not really following a specific diet. I’m kind of just eating health if that makes any sense. I was diagnosed with PCOS back in April and my blood sugar was creeping up to levels where my doctor became worried so they basically told me I needed to make major lifestyle changes. I cut almost all sugar out of my diet. The biggest part of that was switching away from regular coke which was my favorite (and I’ll tell you a secrete I get jealous when I see people drinking regular pop) and cutting out alcohol. I’m also on medication that blocks my body from absorbing the sugar I do eat and what it does block it helps my body process it more efficiently.
I stay away from foods that are high in fat and calories. I cut out simple carbs like white pasta and white bread and replaced it with whole wheat. Increased fruits and vegetables. Cut my calories down to around 1200 (this took some time). I also try including a cheat day once every couple of weeks because I feel like it reminds my body what I am doing. I still don’t have sugar on my cheat days but I might have something like French fries or pizza. I started exercising (mostly walking) everyday.
I haven’t really been good at following diets in the past so I decided to try what seemed like more common sense to me. The changes where drastic at first but I keep reminding myself that maybe if I did this a long time ago I wouldn’t have ended up where I am.
I think you have come to the right place. Welcome...I think you will find that having an intelligent, witty and dedicated group of girls as your support system will really rocket you toward your goal!
