Default Discouraged (vent)

I am not losing weight and it is upsetting!

I eat right -- lots of fruits and veggies, fish, chicken breast rarely, no beef or pork.

And I exercise! (You can see for yourself on the September challenge here in the 20-somethings forum.) I've been going to the track walking and running.

My stomach is still fat. My thighs are still large. My face is still puffy. My 6s are no where close to fitting and my 8s are still snug.

I am not going to give up, because I'd hate to get even fatter. But I am discouraged, unhappy, and fat.

Thanks for reading. I needed to vent

Hmm. Do you drink a lot of water? That might help flush any water retention.

Yes, I drink about 4 - 16.9oz bottles every day.

Thanks, but this fat, not water retention.

Hey there.
~Side note: Well first off you're only in an inch taller than me and we are the same weight (my ticker is off), how the **** do you fit into an 8, even snugly? I'd die to squeeze into a 10, I'm jealous!!!

On topic: Do you know how many calories you eat? When you say you haven't lost weight, how long are we talking here?

I looked at your exercise log on the exercise challenge; cardio looks good, but how long are your walks/runs taking? Have you tried adding strength training in 2 or 3 times a week? I know several months ago (before I fell off the wagon) when I hit a major plateau I was just doing cardio and abs and when I added strength training in it totally started me losing weight again!

Anyway, I don't have any theories yet so hopefully when you answer the questions it may be more clear!

***EDIT*** It looks like you just started losing weight August 28th! I think you may just be being a little impatient if nothing else. I know it can be frustrating but sometimes our bodies just don't lose it as fast as we want it to.

Hey Whit Whit:

Some times I go a long time before I see my scale move, but have you checked your inches!!!

I've lost inches like crazy, yet not see the scale budge. I've heard it before, and I beleive it now, the scale is over rated....

So if you haven't already, take your measurements, your waist, thigh, arms, etc...

You are going to be amazed when you check them again this time, next month.

Don't give up!

I would give it time. I've been at a plateau for 4 months now, and it is really frustrating, but I'm just going to change things up a bit, boost this or that, drink more water, boost my exercise levels, and hope for the best. It may take awhile for you to "play" till you find what works best for you to lose the weight. Everyone is different, so what worked for one person may not work for you. Hang in there!

Thanks ladies!

On second thought, I have only been at this for almost a month so I guess I was just getting impatient. But I haven't even had the 1-2 pound loss that other people talk about.

LOCKITUP - Like I said, my 8s are snug. I ran track in high school and continued to run in college so I have an athletic build and muscle tone. Every body is different.

I ordered a Billy Blanks system that comes with weights...so I cannot wait until that arrives.

I hate the gym. When I join, I do not go so it is a waste of money. I do not want to start a strength training program that I will not continue.

Thanks again ladies...
