I have found that if I eat protein at breakfast it seems to keep me full...my problem is ideas using protein for breakfast...other than using your weekly total of 6 eggs what else can I do...I would appreciate any ideas that you can throw at me...
Almost every day I make an egg/cheese/tomato mini bagel sandwich-using eggbeaters, rf sharp cheddar, cherry tomatoes and mini-bagels. Keeps me satisfied way longer than cereal or fruit. And it cooks up really quick- can make and eat it within 15 minutes.
I like cottage cheese and pineapple for breakfast, too (P,F), or on days I have 1/2P I usually eat a light string cheese.
There was a "famous" heart doctor on Oprah the other day (Mehmet Oz--??) anyway one thing he recommended was eating a few almonds or walnuts (2 with the most heart healthy oil, raw, and refrigerated retains the oils health qualities) anyway, eating a few before a meal slows the digestive process to make you feel fuller, longer, and I think it has helped--especially in the morning when I usually run out of gas too soon. I just have a few and count them as my fats for the day.
I do the eggbeaters like Julie, but I put it on a Western Bagel "Alternative Bagel". It's a 2 oz 110 calorie bagel that counts as 1S for the whole thing, and its the size of a regular bagel.
Also try veggie sausages, and there is a turkey sausage recipe in the cookbook. I can post the recipe if you want it.
Also, I have taken slices of deli turkey or roast beef and put a little laughing cow cheese on it and rolled it up for breakfast. Yummy and filling.
What is the brand of bagel that you buy and do you buy it in the regular grocery store? Sounds like a much more filling breakfast than what I am eating!
Western Bagel is the company, Alternative Bagel is the brand. I only have this one or twice a week, though, because it is a higher alternative in calories. I also switch between that and the 4" wheat pitas split, or LaTortilla Factory low carb tortilla (50 calories for the whole thing).
Boy... I need to get back to work (lol)
Debbie - I posted the recipe in the recipes thread.

Good tip on the almonds, LeaAnn...I missed Oz, but I like it when he's on.
I like the Morningstar Grillers...(like a veggie burger pattie). I know it's not a typical breakfast, but it's on plan and quite tasty.. It's about 2 1/4 oz and counts as a Protein. When you have a protein, you should have it with a Starch, fruit or veggie. I usually eat a fruit at breakfast.
Turkey SausageServing size is one patty (1/2P)
Makes 4 patties:
10 or 14 oz ground turkey breast (according to plan)
1/2 t. dried sage
1/4 t. ground black pepper
1/4 t. cayenne pepper
1/4 t. Morton Lite Salt
nonfat cooking spray
1. In large bowl, combine turkey and seasonings. Mix thoroughly.
2. Divide evenly and shape into 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 oz. patties (according to plan)
3. heat skillet, coated with nonfat cooking spray, over a medium flame.
4. Add patties to skillet and cook thorougly on each side, or to an internal temperature of 165 degrees.
5. Uncooked patties may be frozen.
I have been having the morning glory sausage -- for 2 links its 1/2 P and that has been helping me out alot; in my red1 book, it says you can also have 1 ounce cheese as your protein - and it also says you can have 1 ounce low sodium canadian bacon as your 1/2P -- its funny though, when I use the cheese, I am challeneged by the counselor -- then I remind them
I've been having a wedge of laughing cow cheese on 1/2 small bagel too -- that works
I sure wish my COD would get some new menu books. None of those choices are in my book! Arrrrrrrrrrrg! If anyone has the time and would scan your new red plan with those choices I would appreciate it. I would be willing to swap my thinner by the minute and tip cards! LOL PM me! Please!
Western Bagel "Alternative Bagel". It's a 2 oz 110 calorie bagel that counts as
I bought some VERY VERY small bagels about 5-6 cm and they are 100 calories, 1 g fat, 19 carbs and my center told my I can ONLY HAVE 1/2 of that small bagel for a starch I was very fustrated over this as they are very tiny!
They told me that starches have to be 70 calories or under per serving.
Since the Thomas' mini bagels are 120 calories for one, and count as a 2 oz bagel for one starch per the book, I count the Alternative Bagel as a starch. (120 calories is right, right Julie?)
I don't like any eggs what I do is buy (Whey Protein) and add one scoop to cup 1% milk ice blend into awesome shake and I'm satisfied. You may choose flavor chocolate or vanilla and even sub milk with water. Thats my meal replacement for breakfast or lunch.
