Default French onion soup

Here is how I make my soup:

2 cups thinly sliced onions
1 t. butter
1 cup low sodium beef broth
1 t. of flour

Brown the onions in the butter on low to medium heat for about 15 minutes. Add flour, stir in, brown for 1 minute, add beef broth, allow to boil, simmer for 10 minutes, pour into an oven proof dish, top with 1 slice of toasted bread, top bread with 1 oz of swiss or romano cheese, broil until cheese is bubbling, serve immediately.

Thanks Katie!! I will have to try it! I think that traditionally most places add some kind of wine or something but I don't usually use it in cooking.

Oh, Beanie, thanks for reminding me, I did put a splash of white cooking wine in it, but I don't know that you would really have to.
