Default ABC's of Weight Loss

Allow weight loss to happen slowly. A crash diet will result in rapid weight gain, once normal eating habits resume.
Bake or broil meat instead of frying.
Cola has an average of 150 calories per 12oz can and 10tsp of sugar.
Desserts can be healthy! Instead try sugar free jell-o, angel food cake, frozen yogurt, popsicles, fresh fruit, etc...
Eat slowly and enjoy what you're eating. Eating slowly lets you realize when you are truly full.
Fresh fruit and vegetables are wonderful snacks and are fast and easy to prepare.
Goals need to be realistic. Weight loss should be about 1 lb per week.
Herbs are a great way to increase flavor with low fat cooking.
Involve your family and friends in your weight loss for support and encouragement with your new eating habits.
Journals are a great way to keep track of what you are eating and your emotions when you eat.
Keep busy with your time so boredom deosn't trigger eating.
Lifestyle changes are needed in all aspects: Exercise, Eating Habits, and Motivation.
Motivation is an important key. Analyze what motivates you and write it down as a reminder.
Never say never. Remember weight loss and lifestyle changes take time.
Observe how clothes fit to monitor weight loss, not by a daily weight on the scale.
Plan a shopping list before going to the grocery store so you won't buy food on impulse.
Quit making excuses! Start your new lifestyle changes today.
Remove the skin from chicken before cooking.
Steam vegetables as a non-fat cooking technique. Enjoy the "natural" taste of vegetables.
Temptation doesn't last forever. If you're craving a food, try an activity to take your mind off of the temptation.
Uunderstand that weight loss is about lifestyle changes not "dieting."
Variety in your diet will assure adequate comsumption of all vitamins and minerals.
Water should be consumed daily. Sometimes thirst is mistaken for hunger.
Xtra's (ex. chips,weets-full of fat & calories) should be saved for special occasions & consumed in small amounts.
Yogurt is great for snacks and can replace the cream in some dips and recipes.
Zest from lemon, orange and lime can be used on salads, vegetables and fish.

Did you come up with these yourself? That's a good idea if you did. And even if you didn't, I'm going to come up with my own personal ABC's of weight loss.

They are all good advice!! Sometimes we need reminders like these!

I have my own set .... but they're not very poetic.

A is for eat less
B is for eat clean
C is for cardio
D is for weights

Actually, they're not poetic at all. But they hit my high points.

A and D are enough for me. Eat less to lose weight and lift weights to maintain lean bodymass.

Does "angel food cake" really qualify as healthy?
