THURSDAY: Today is time for us Thursday so make a little time just for you today!

POINTS:

CARRI
Faye
LeeAnn

Carri: Sounds like you had fun! I am a pizza lover too, but even when we DO have pizza I don't get what I want because Jack only like Pizza Hut or in a pinch Papa John's. I like Dominos and he hates that and I miss a pizza place in Indiana called Rosinis that made the best New York style pizza I have ever had. Ahhh, those days are gone though!

I am doing great on my program. I get really hungry after lunch but plan a snack in there to get me through. I just decided to go back to my good ole fat and calorie counting as it works the best for me.

We begin painting the trim in Jack's office on Saturday. I actually don't mind the trim as I just lay on my belly and paint away. I do all the close up stuff with artists brushes to keep it nice and neat. It is going to look so nice in there; cadet gray and navy blue. It will allow him to think of the Navy again, I guess! After the disgusting colors he wanted to paint (it was like a pumpkin color that was awful with a green no less!) I finally eased him around to these two colors. I ordered his throw rug for in front of his door and we are ordering his pleated shades tomorrow. His new desk is in the trunk of the car waiting for him to take his old one apart. It isn't old, only about 3 years, but like everything else he does, he is a man and doesn't think farther than the end of his nose. The thing is L shaped and HUGE and takes up most of the room. It also cost a fortune, but now we have to dismantle it to get it out of the room so it will be kindling! Sheesh!

Well, I need to start on my first glass of water and get on the treadmill so I can get my workout done for the day. I have upstairs bathrooms to clean today so want to get to it!

have a great day

Faye

Pumkin color? ewww! My family is mostly Army (though dad's a Marine), but my sister broke tradition and went Air Force. I think I'm the only one who escaped the military life.

About Julie going AWOL (since we're talking in military terms) I tried to contact her position and get a debriefing on the situation on her front, but she seems to be MIA. I may have to send in reinforcements soon if we don't hear from her soon.

Seriously, though, i gave her a call, but they were out. I remember her mentioning that they have a situation that looks precarious for this summer, so I don't know if it's come to a head or something. I hope they're ok.

I actually had a 4 point day yesterday! That's right, I finally.... gasp... Drank My Water!!! LOL

LeeAnn: Thanks for the update about Julie. I know she is busy with the writing and such now and hope all is ok with them also. You may not know since you are a "newer" member, but my dh is a 20 year veteran of the Navy and that is why I said what I did. The saying is, "You can take the man out of the Navy, but you can't take the Navy out of the man." Jack is not as bad as most unless he is around someone who was in the Navy or in the service, but though he doesn't miss it (at least he SAYS he doesn't) I know he has a real fondness for it and he will watch the boring military channel until I want to upchuck, collects military movies like they were going out of style and will watch John Wayne in some military picture over and over. He has some military memoribilia in his office including a flag box with all his medals and a flag that flew over the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor. Actually, the gray and the navy colors are very nice and look like a man's room. He can pretend he is back on an aircraft carrier that way..... I can't believe all those guys on ships aren't all on depression medicine. The whole ship is painted GRAY! How depressing! We went on a "cruise" on the USS Kennedy years ago that took us out into the Atlantic for the day. I freaked out when my son wanted to sit with his legs hanging over the side and standing on the flight deck made me have vertigo and I had to go below. The "shop" my husband supervised was full of computerized equipment and kept at 65 degrees at all times! BRRRRR, it was freezing to sit in there with him. I have to say, they do FEED the guys pretty well. We had pretty good food, but the stairs are so narrow, I could never get my big behind down them nowadays. The "heads" are teeny weeny too. The ships are much much bigger now so they have stuff like computers etc they didn't have when Jack was in. We had to use good ole snail mail. I think how less lonely the kids and I and he would have been if we could have emailed everyday and sent pics to each other etc. I would sometimes go for a couple weeks with no letter then get 6 all at once. I hated it to tell you the truth because Jack and I have always been joined at the hip so to speak. We weathered it all though and came out ok. It scarred the kids a bit, but it is a tough life with little reward and little pay.

I popped the circuit breaker doing my workout today! Must have been good! Actually, the condo has antiquated wiring that was been updated a year ago, but just enough to make it safe so you can't have too many things going at the same time and I guess I had too many lights etc on when I got on the treadmill. At least THAT is done for the day.

Oh and LeeAnn, the kids pics are sooooo cute!

Have to go and get some work done.

Only 2 points yesterday. Went to IHOP after my husband's doctor's appointment (his choice) and I surcumbed to 1 piece of Stuffed French toast with strawberries...and popcorn last night. Not too bad, but not what I had planned.

I'm waiting for the Nurse Practioner to call me now. Since the Ultrasound was an emergency one, Dr. wasn't even in the office but came in last night and intrepreted it. She is supposed to call me after she talks to him when he gets out of surgery and let me know if the bypass in his leg is a go or not and when it will be done or what will be done. If she doesn't call today, I have to take him to renal dr. tomorrow right across the hall and I will camp out until they tell me something. I've pretty much prepared myself that they will have to amputate his leg, hopefully below the knee. His foot is deteriorating alarmingly.

Faye, you know we all have to work out what we can life with as far as a diet plan goes. You do what works for you...

Lee Ann - hooray - good going - great job - keep drinking...water that is. It's good for you!

Amanda?

Susan: We will continue to pray for your husband and hope for the best. Just remember that losing his leg or foot is better than losing his life. My mom had diabetes and long story short died because she wasn't taken care of properly. My step father wouldn't allow the doctor to tell her that she needed an amputation and threatened all us kids not to tell her. Now you know I don't take well to being threatened so I told her that she really needed to look after herself and that if things got worse it was possible she might lose her foot, did she understand that and she said, yes. She died two weeks later of diabetic complications. So, I DO know what you are going through and I will pray hard that things will work out and your hubby will get better no matter what has to happen one way or another! To you from all of us here! We are here if you need us and I am only an email away!

FRIDAY: Today is Fabulous Friday Follies. Our folly question this week is what was the worst circumstance where you got yourself lost?

POINTS:

Faye

We got lost in one of the big casinos in Vegas. We got turned around and had a devil of a time finding the way out and I had to go to the bathroom!

Hope everyone has a scrumptious day and weekend!

Going to a quilt show in another city. My girlfriend and I had directions from MapQuest and for some reason they took us through a miles and miles of back roads way out in the country where there was no place or no one to ask for directions. We eventually got there. Going back, we found it was only 1 mile from I-64 if they had taken us correctly.

DH is being scheduled for surgery. Waiting for date and time. This practice is so big (over 30 mds) they have separate groups to do everything so I have to get the surgery scheduling group to call me back. I'm about ready to start calling them every 15 minutes. I've already waited 4 hours since I last called, when they told me someone would call me right back.

Good morning ladies. I had some chocolate raspberry truffle ice cream as a treat last night so I was over my fat so only 2, but I am going to get on the treadmill in just a few minutes and walk some of it off.

Susan: I hope you can get the surgery situation sorted out with your husband. I know that it can be trying when you can't get answers from doctors. We have had a situation for almost 2 months and it isn't my husband's cardiologist, it is the company that supplies his drugs through the mail. Our co-pay is $9 for brand name drugs and Jack takes Accupril. The beginning of this year, this drug went to a "non-formulary" status and as such the co-pay went to $22. We needed to have his dr send a medical necessity form indicating he wanted him to remain on this drug as a medical necessity or he could be put on one of the generic drugs listed on the forms. My cardiologist faxed the form FOUR times within 6 weeks and I kept contacting Express Scripts and they kept saying they never received it. Finally, I got mad, the nurse got mad, she faxed with a note saying she wanted to be called when they received it and I sent a nasty email to them. Between the two of us, we got them to put him on a lifetime status at $9 for the drug, BUT I ordered the drug and it got here yesterday and they charged my Credit Card $22 so I had to go around with them again. Supposedly they are submitting a credit to either my credit card or to Jack's account so that when I order his next two meds next week they will just take the $13 off of it. It was unbelievable so I sure hope you finally got an answer so he can get well.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Hi guys,

Just popping in to report on my whereabouts!

I am feeling alot better - had my monthly counselling session last week which helped me, bought a new top from a charity shop which looks really pretty and went out on saturday night and had fun AND got chatted up by the taxi driver on the way home! All these things have helped me to feel a bit better about myself!

I am very busy today - have a tonne of college work to do before my assessment tomorrow, and am hoping to get to the gym this evening.

SUSAN - I agree with Faye - losing his leg is obviously the last resort, but it might just turn him around and set him on the road to recovery. I will keep you both in my prayers - stay positive (says me, the chronic depressive! )

FAYE - Hope you are doing okay!

CARRI - Yes, I am on meds - I was on a high dose and recently reduced them to a 'normal' dose - so my mood has been a bit unsettled since then. I dream of the day when I can be drug free, and am annoyed that even lowering them slightly can set me off on one. Oh well, I'd rather take the drigs and be stable than be off meds and despairing and suicidal!

Have a nice day all

Love Amanda x

Hi, ladies. Still waiting to hear when my husband's surgery will be. They are trying to get emergency approval from the insurance.

A new month...let's all keep working towards our July goal.

Hi everyone,
Gosh, I had no idea I've been gone so long! I spent this past weekend (Thurs - sun) at a writing conference in NYC. I met with editors and agents and writers and schmoozed and ate and ate. I think my career is headed in a whole new direction--or will be soon. Lots of positive meetings. I spent the couple weeks before the conference finishing up deadlines and preparing for the city. And it's May, which means there are a hundred things the kids have to do at school.

So that's part of why I haven't been here. The other, as you probably guessed, is that I totally crashed the diet wagon I don't think I've had a good day with eating and exercise in like 6 weeks!!! I'm afraid to weigh myself, cuz I know I'm like 10 pounds heavier, at least. I'm not sure what to do about it, but I'm back here, so that's a start.

I hope everyone is chugging along famously in my absence--

TTFN,
Julie

TUESDAY: Today is Target Tuesday and our target this week is sweets and desserts. Just because we are trying to lose weight does not mean we have to totally deprive ourselves. Once in awhile have yourself a small treat. There are lots of ff or sugar free products on the market to tame your sweet tooth. Just remember that they are a treat for once in awhile.

Susan: Hope you hear some good news for your husband soon!

Julie: Well, I think we have a stranger in our midsts.... It is great too see you again!

Amanda: Ok, you are feeling better now, so let's jump back on the bandwagon and get going again so you can start taking those lbs off again!

Carri: Good morning to you!

LeeAnn: Hope all is well with you also!

Everyone have a good day

Faye
