Default Sloppy Joe for a Crowd

This recipe came from the American Family Home Cookbook. My son loves it.

2 1/4 pounds ground beef (use very lean)
2 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 cup chopped green pepper
1 bottle (14 oz) ketchup - I use Heinz One Carb with Splenda
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar - I use Sugar Twin Brown Sugar or see the recipe I posted in the Cooking Hints section http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79481
1/4 cup lemon juice
1/4 cup vinegar
1/4 cup water
2 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp prepared mustard

1. Brown ground beef, onion, and green pepper in a skillet; drain off excess fat (rinse if not using lean ground beef). Combine with remaining ingredients. Put into a large oven-proof Dutch oven.
2. Bake covered, at 325 degrees F for 1 1/2 hours. To serve, spoon over toasted (whole wheat) hamburger buns or whole wheat bread.

16 servings. This makes enough for two dinners and some lunches too. It is good and very easy.
