Default Meal on the go bars or protein bars?

Does anyone have any suggestions for Meal replacement bars or protein bars that actually taste good? Ive tried the slimfast high protein ones and well they are not great. Regular ones arent too bad? Anyoen like the power bars are anything like that?

It's trial and error. I am in the middle of trying some. So far I like Luna (smores), Adkins Fudge Brownie Carmel (avg), Zone Perfect Fudge Graham bar (my favorite so far). I didn't like the All in One brand.

I like Luna and Clif bars. On workdays, that's my breakfast at my desk. They both have a lot of different flavors...

Revival Soy and Snickers marathon bars are pretty good... Balance bars are hit and miss for me.

I love Slim Fast bars. I eat Nature Valley Chewy Trial Mix. I love them, they give me a pick me up and they are very healthy.

Default Luna is a winner

I've had several Luna bars now. It seems to be my favorite brand (and it has soy and organic stuff which I normally don't touch). The brownie one was a big iffie, but so far I like the ones I'm trying.

Zone and South Beach. South beach taste is awesome, especially cinnamon roll. Pria is okay. Nutritionally speaking we keep them at a min., but sometimes they are lifesavers.

I've been eating mine more in the last week for dinner because my husband is gone and I'm stressed taking care of 3 kids and a job and I don't feel like eating. I think my new meds is causing a lack of appetite. I'm trying to keep it minimum though.

New question. How do you know what is a protein bar, energy bar, meal bar, snack bar?

Protein bars have more protein, fewer carbs. Energy bars are usually quite high in carbs, hopefully complex. Meal bars are usually over 200 calories and up to 400. Snack bars are nutrition-less voids that make somebody feel they aren't eating a candy bar when in reality they are.

Hope that helps!

I don't like those prepackaged things, but my equivalent of an energy bar is I slice of whole wheat bread (halved, then folded) with 1/2 tablespoon of peanut butter and then a littlebit of granola or special K in the middle for that crunchiness!

When I am on the go, away from home, in a pinch and need something quick and balanced I go with either a Chocolate Peanut Butter Zone Bar or a Trail Mix Chocolate Chip Balance bar.

I have a little problem with all these "nutrition" bars having "fractionated palm-kernel" or even hydrogenated oils in them - but that's how it goes with processed foods. That aside, they taste great...
