Default Fat-free (Core?) Hummus

I found a brand of hummus (they spell it Hommus on the container) at Super Target that appears to be Core. We bought the Mediterranean Medley flavor. The brand is Oasis Classic Cuisine, $2.99 for a 8 oz. container, and here's the info to 2 tablespoons:

Calories: 18
Fat: 0
Cholesterol: 0
Sodium: 37mg
Carb: 3g
Fiber: 1g
Protein: 1g

Ingredients: Organic chickpeas, water, red bell pepper, cauliflower, carrots, celery, onion, garlic, lemon juice, salt, spices.

I'm counting this as Core since there's no tahini. It also tastes very good!

Celery is the best since crackers are a no-no. Also my finger works well too.

You lucky guys. We (Canadians) have a lot fewer choices.

Melissa, it's like bean dip but with chickpeas. That's the closest way I can describe it. I think you'd like it.

Sweet! I wish we had SuperTarget. Maybe I'll be able to find it at one of our better grocery stores...

Hey, if you can't find it, here's a simple hummus type dip I make all the time:
Into your food processor put 2t. olive oil, pepper, lemon juice (1/2 lemon), salt and pepper to taste,
2 cloves garlic, and a can of drained chick peas. Process until fairly smooth.
I use dippers of cucumbers, carrots, celery=-=they're all good. I've even had it for lunch when I'm not sure what to have! Totally Core because I leave out the tahini. I'm sure real hummus afficionados would scoff, but I think it's pretty tasty!

Judy, it it's pretty much the same thing as the bought stuff! I'm also sure real hummus afficionados would scoff at the tahini-free (I've heard many say it doesn't taste the same but I think it's fine) ... I'm just sorta too lazy to make it. I might make someone anyway when this is gone. And I could probably spend some points on bagel chips or Wheat Thins. The whole wheat Wheat Thins are very good (and should be Core, IMO!).

Here goes. Dumb question. Do you use green sweet peppers. Or hot. Cause at first I was thinking black pepper. But then read further and said pepper to taste. And the chick peas. Are they usually in the aisle where the canned veggies are. It sounds like it would be good. And I love dip with my veggies.

I find chick peas in the aisle with the canned beans (like kidney beans). The salt and pepper I use to taste I use black pepper--you know like the kind in the shaker. You could use green peppers sliced up as dippers with this make believe hummus. I've done that and it's nice and crunchy and a good dipper.
This recipe is so simple that you can add anything that you like. Good luck!
