Default Bad breath?

Happy Thursday!

This is very embarrassing. My husband told me last night that my breath smells like....dog waste.

I floss every day and have healthy teeth. I brush my teeth obsessively (I spent $5000 on Invisalign after law school to get my teeth straight and pretty and now I am totally obsessed with them). I gargle with mouthwash. I am the antithesis of someone who should have bad breath.

I read that low carb diets can cause this...is there any cure? I went and bought gum and Listerine freshstrips...I'm so embarrassed I don't want to talk to anyone. Does anyone have this problem?

I am on this diet to become more attractive and self confident...now, as a result, I am repulsing my husband and don't want to talk to anyone! How's that for irony?

Your mute diet buddy-
Michele

Weight loss can make a mouth smell very bad! Ketosis in particular causes bad breath. Sounds like you are well-equipped with maouthwash and breath strips! Invest in a "tongue scraper" which really helps eliminate odor. Be sure to drink plenty of water!

Ketosis should never occur on South Beach. Are you eating legumes? Drinking milk and eating yogurt? You should be getting plenty of healthy carbs even in phase 1.

Ketosis is not part of this plan. Check your healthy carbs.

just thought I'd add that sometimes the alcohol in mouthwash can make bad breath worse because it dries out the mouth even more. Make sure you're really downing the water.
