Default vegetarian food log

Howdy!

I am starting a vegetarian food log. There seems to be some interest in this community about what vegetarians eat. And vegetarians are looking for inspiration from each other. Anyone is welcome to join, anyone is welcome to comment.

I am not committing to posting my food intake every day, because I already spend too much time on 3fc. But I'll do it when I can.

Sunday:

Breakfast -- apple

Lunch -- barley with asparagus, onion, and carrots

Dinner -- pesto with angel hair pasta

Snack -- candy bar and soda

I don't count calories these days, but looking over yesterday, I probably ate 1800.

What *kind* of candy bar and soda did you have? I always wonder what people eat when they just say "salad" or something like that (I like full descriptions) because that could mean anything from a fruit salad, to a chopped kale and sweet potato salad to a Mc Donald's iceburg nightmare

TBJ333, If you are interested in reading a vegan's food log, I post what I eat in the "support" and "TOPS" sections everyday.

Well, yesterday was an eating disaster for me, but at least one day of the weekend always ends up like that for me somehow. But in the interest of full disclosure:

Sun:

Breakfast:
1 cup of Kashi GoLean cereal with about ¾ cup of 2% milk

After gym snack (can’t really call this “lunch”):
¼ cup Corn salsa and 1 oz baked blue corn tortilla chips

Dinner (or “disaster strikes during quiet evening of playing dominoes with the neighbors”):

Nearly 1 full bottle of red wine
1 “fun” size Reese’s FastBreak bar
Probably about half a 12’’ pizza with olives tomatoes and spinach (not entirely sure, don’t remember but LOTS; see above: entire bottle of wine)

*Note: These measurements are approximate. After a few weeks counting and measuring everything I decided I got the idea of “proper portion” and just eyeball it most of the time.

Oh, and I probably smoked like 5 cigarettes last night. Haven’t done that in a long time, and believe me I paid for it this morning. Note to self: remember how you felt like crap this morning next time you drink a whole bottle of wine and cigarettes sound like a great idea. *doh* I am so subject to bad influences.

Oh well, at least I did a good job with the gym this weekend. Solid hour of lap swim on Saturday; 30 min on the elliptical and an hour doing the weight circuit on Sunday. Almost makes the pizza sound justified (no, not really…but hey, spilt milk).

Hope everyone is feeling great today! Keep it up.

Yesterday:

Breakfast:
Bagel with 1 oz. Neufchâtel cheese
1 banana

Lunch:
1 cup Morningstar Farms vegan chili
2 rye crisps

Dinner:
“Chicken” Marsala with mushrooms, approx. 1/2 cup of pasta in tomato sauce
This is one of the few things my boyfriend cooks and it’s delicious! We use “chicken style” seitan that we buy at Whole Foods. I just discovered this product a couple months ago and it is one of my staple meat substitutes now. It’s very low fat and high protein. This dish is a little high on the fat (it’s the marsala sauce), but it’s great once in a while and it tastes sooooo good. If anyone is interested I can post the recipe.

Hi lessofme!

Shrink away and cover your eyes, people... here is what a BAD vegetarian day looks like. I thought about not posting it, but... accountability, you know?

***
Pepsi
Cheetos
Rice crispy bar
Pasta with pesto

1800 calories

Heh heh, yuck! But now y'all know how ugly it looks when a veggie doesn't eat well...

That looks pretty much like what I ate every day back in high school. No wonder going vegetarian didn't make me lose any weight. We all have bad food days, you just have to start over the next day and keep going.

Fortunately most days are a different story now.

Dec. 1:

B: one cup Kashi GoLean cereal

L: Hormel veggie chili with beans

Snack: 1oz Nabisco sweet & salty trail mix, 3 rye crisps

D: Penne pasta in tomato sauce with zucchini, red bell peppers, fresh garlic and Trader Joe’s meatless meatballs

1400-1500 cals

I’m heading to the farmers' market at lunch to pick up some fresh veggies. They’re disappearing rather quickly at my house
