Default Please Offer Your Condolences

I don't know if you all heard this, but I thought this would be appropriate for here. I am half-Pakastani, and I was devestated when I heard this:

There was in earthquake in Pakistan, here's the news from CNN (although I heard it from my aunt last night...):

The death toll in Pakistan from the earthquake has climbed to more than 18,000, a spokesman for Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf announced. CNN has not confirmed that figure. Pakistan is bearing the brunt of the 7.6 quake, which was centered 60 miles north-northeast of Islamabad. India, the disputed territory of Kashmir, and Afghanistan also suffered. Aftershocks continue to rattle the south Asian region.

18,000. Shocking, isn't it? My uncle is there right now (he's been visiting for 6 months), but thank God he wasn't killed or hurt. My other aunt's older sister and her family also live there (my uncle was with them), but they weren't hurt either. You know what is scary? She was going to visit the area that was hit but was off from work.

Also, she has already been through an earthquake in Turkey where her little boy almost died. So please, offer your prayers. This is very devestating. What is going on with the world?

EDIT: Recent figures: 19,136 dead (17,388 in Jammu Kashmir); 42,397 injured... 144 after-shocks (highest around 6 on the Richter scale)

I just read the news about this, it's so horrifying! I agree, there have been so many natural tragedies in the world lately, it does make you stop and wonder what is going on.

They will all be in my prayers. I'm glad your family is safe, and hope they stay that way
