Default Odd but delicious fruit salad

I just found a new sauce for fruit salads, especially red/soft fruits. The ingredients sound odd but taste delicious. The whole recipe is:

Serves 2

225g (8oz) fresh strawberries
150ml (1/4 pint) fresh orange juice
2 tablespoons caster sugar (I don't bother with any)
1 star anise
1 teaspoon caraway seeds (although it tastes good without them)
To Serve
broken meringues - or whole ones if you prefer
Low fat natural youghurt

Hull strawberries and place them in a bowl

Place OJ, sugar, star anise, caraway seeds in a small ban. Bring to boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour oer strawberries and allow to cool for at least 1 hour, up to 8 hours.

Divide strawberries between 2 flasses and serve with meringues and low fat yoghurt.

126kcals
2g protein
30g carbs
1g fat (0 saturated)
1g fibre
16g added sugar
0.02g salt

Thank the Kitchen God for Ainsley Harriott

Star anise I have no idea what that is! Just searched and seen it on Delia's site. Looks fancy.

Veggie - you do too know what it is - it is the spice that makes crispy duck taste so very very good!!!

It is a bit expensive, but lasts for ever and a little goes quite a way!

I buy it in Asian food stores cos it is far far cheaper, even if it doesn't look as pretty as the supermarket stuff. The same goes for cinnamon sticks, I buy cinnamon bark. Same stuff, less than half the price. It is just the less smooth part that encases the posh stuff supermarkets sell!!
