Water Versus Crystal Lite
When trying to work in your X oz. of water per day - do you count drinks like Crystal Lite?

I have been told that it can count for up to 1/2 of your water, but that the rest needs to be water! I hope that is correct, but I'm sure someone will be able to confirm or deny this!!!

Actually, Shortie, you were told wrong...I'm sorry for the misinformation! Crystal Light shouldn't count for any of your water intake. When you drink things like Crystal Light and soda, your body has to process the added chemicals and other ingredients out to get to the water. It takes more work and your body doesn't get it as quickly. So, only count water as water.
If you are drinking flavored water and it has only two or three ingredients, it probably could count. For instance, water with a squeeze of fresh lemon is fine. I'm not sure of the ingredients in things like la croix or Fruit2O, so you'd have to check them out.
Remember, you're trying to get at least 64 oz (2 liters or 8 glasses, 8 oz in each glass) of water a day. It helps so much, really!

I have always counted my Crystal light with my water intake. I can't believe I can't count that as my water intake. It is so hard for me to get in that much plain water. I have been keeping a cold bottle on my desk just sipping away at it instead of gulping it down. It keeps my mouth busy.

Crystal Lite is a FRANKENFOOD and should be limited, not counted as water. Here are the ingredients besides water: CITRIC ACID, POTASSIUM AND SODIUM CITRATE, ASPARTAME, MAGNESIUM OXIDE, CONTAINS LESS THAN 2% OF NATURAL FLAVOR, LEMON JUICE SOLIDS, ACESULFAME POTASSIUM, ARTIFICIAL COLOR, YELLOW 5 LAKE, BHA (PRESERVES FRESHNESS).
Are you sure you want to put a lot of that into your body?

Here is what I've seen on Diet Doctor and my Doctor told me....
If you can't drink plain water (like me) then crystal light is better for you than sodas. What I do is dilute it with more water, you still get the taste and it helps me drink more through out the day. So, if you look at it this way..... Either drink sodas with a little water intake a day or drink a lot of crystal lite, diluted so you can get more water a day...it is much better to do the crystal light thing.

If you keep diluting your crystal lite, it will eventually be lightly flavored water and then it's easier to switch to water. Once you get used to each dilution, then the next time add a little more water.
I started using the 2 qt package and made it into a gallon container, then after I got used to that taste, I used 1/2 a pkg into the gallon container, etc, etc.
Maybe keep a some water with a lemon or lime squeezed in, in the coldest part of the fridge. Sometimes I leave the lemon/lime in the water for more flavor.
Now I can drink water without any problems and even prefer it over many other drinks availble.

My doctor was just concerned that you get enough fluids in you to make your urine clear. That was just him talking after a kidney stone, not about losing weight.
I myself do a little of all of it! I drink some diet drinks, I drink plain water and I drink Crystal Light.

I've honestly never heard of anyone who can't drink plain water. It's a decision you make - you all know that your body needs water. You all need to keep in mind that Dr's don't know everything. A little common sense goes a long way here. I spent many years not drinking my water...refusing to drink plain water in fact.
My personal testimony on this subject is this: When I switched from crystal lite to plain water within a few weeks I noticed a very extreme difference in my skin...my face has never looked better! That alone should tell you girls that there IS a difference and YOUR BODY KNOWS THE DIFFERENCE.
I'm not saying that I don't drink coffee or tea, because I do. But these are in addition to my daily water...and I drink about 100oz a day.

It's not a matter of can't drink plain water, it's don't want to drink plain water. Before we got the water filter for the faucet, our water had a strange smell and taste. Until I got used to drinking plain water, it literally made me slighty queasy. I wasn't drinking much plain water at all before I started SBD. I'd drink soda, tea, coffee anything flavored but not much water.
Now that I've been drinking water, I won't go back. I enjoy water and nothing is better when I'm thisty then a big glass of cold water.
