Thin4Life - February 6/05
Good morning! It's cloudy here this morning and rain is supposed to move in later today. We had a gorgeous weekend weather wise but I didn't get to enjoy any of it because I was indoors all weekend! It's balmy 45 here and I think we're supposed to hit 50 at some point. We'll see.
My eating on Saturday wasn't the best and yesterday I did pretty well with keeping things under control. I was too tired to eat a lot
I have a pretty quiet week for a change so maybe I'll be able to catch up on some things. The office is pretty busy with mailings, etc. but that makes the day go by fast.
Pam: What did you think about the commercials during the Super Bowl? I didn't have any one favorite. At least the game was close.
Lala: Did you have fun shopping? I need to get a few new things but I've been holding out on getting them. Maybe this weekend I'll head out and check out the sales.
Lisa: Hi! Hope you had a good weekend!

Hi everyone,
Foggy chez lala and quite lovely at work. The fog on the lake with the foothills and then the cascades in the background made for a kodak moment, it was a good day to pick that route to work.
We had a pretty busy weekend, we ran a bunch of errands, spent money on exciting things like groceries, recovering an ottoman, buying tool chest stuff for DP's tool and workbench area (finally). Looked around for some stuff, but didn't buy anything.
My mom came to town and we spent the night at a hotel in town that I frequent on weekends to build up my hotel stays and gain free nights at really swanky 400-600 buck hotels. Suffice it to say, she enjoyed the suite, the little dessert thing they send up and the free breakfast. It was a nice time to hang.
Other than that, avoided the superbowl, but got into some of the evil seven layer dip that my mom's cousin brought over for dinner.
Oh well, at least my pants are looser and I was down 1.5 at wi on saturday am.
Melissa -- Let's hear for those above freezing temps and mellow work weeks.
Lisa -- Are you starting the theater season soon?
Pam I'm sure is partying in Western MA.
Hi to Susan who is sitting on a beach drinking a mai tai and reading a trashy novel (well, that is what I would be doing in my fantasy world).
Well, off to do some work.
later taters,
lala

Hi, lifers. My weekend was also busy. I had a couple rehearsals, a couple funerals, played a little golf (in windy, windy weather), and went to a Super Bowl get together. Until the Super Bowl thing, I thought I had done well eating wise. Then I ate like a pig. I got on the scale this morning and was totally done in. I am so upset with myself. I haven't weighed that much in almost three years! Help!! Does anyone want to journal with me?
Melissa, I'm glad your weather perked up. Did you go to a Super Bowl party or stay home?
lala, you were busy this weekend, too. You asked about theater season. It's in full swing. I'm in two productions this weekend. One is called Sonnets and Chocolates. It's short Shakespeare scenes, medevil music and costumes. Then there is a sumptious chocolate buffet (just what I need, although they don't give any to us actors. I'm playing Kate in Taming of the Shrew and singing I Hate Men. On Sunday, I'm in a concert with some friends. We're doing all romantic songs from Broadway and classical music.
You'd think I would lose weight being so busy.

Hi Ladies,
The weather here is amazing (imagine me saying that in February!). The temps were close to 60 on Saturday and Sunday. Today and tomorrow should be in the 50's. Then by Friday we should have snow showers. Anyway...........Yeah Patriots. I ate way to much lasagna dip and chips. I was truly upset with myself ....I'll never fit into those new Ann Taylor jeans I bought a few weeks ago if I keep up like that.
Melissa I didn't really care for any of the commercials. The one with the cat and the spaghetti sauce was kind of funny, but a little strange. I thought the half time show was good, but kept wondering how many of the kids watching the game even knew who Paul McCartney is. I still like Hey Jude.
Lala congrats on the 1.5 loss. I laughed when I read your comments on buying a toolbox. DH and I had a disagreement a couple of weeks ago because we couldn't locate ours. DH is a CPA and not very "handy" around the house if you know what I mean. I think I use the toolbox more than him. Anyway it turned up in the basement...I think DS was the last one to use it.
Lisa I can relate to the superbowl overindulgence. Clean living for me this week. Wow you are busy with the theater.
Well I think I'm going to take a walk in the beautiful sunshine. Talk to you later.

Pam, I guess your Pats deserved to win. At least it wasn't a blow out. Yes, the half-time show was good and I said exactly the same thing--how many of these kids even know who Paul McCartney is. You know, he still looks good. I was so surprised at the time when the game ended and we had a 30 minute drive home. Needless to say this girl doesn't usually stay up that late. ; )
lala, yes, congrats on the loss. Please give me some inspiration.
Regarding the SB commercials, I thought the cat and spaghetti sauce one was funny and I liked the one where the baseball went over the fence. Then MC Hammer was thrown back over and the kids threw him back.

Hi everyone,
Cold here but sunny. I am not complaining as I finally finished the book for book club and could get on with a trashy but delicious culinary mystery. Fear not, I have a bunch of reading to do for class, so I'll read the mystery before bed.
Hung out with my mom last night for a bit, its strange to see her without my dad, but he couldn't tear himself away from some project he had going this week. Its nice to have her here though and she is very good at amusing herself.
My back is killing me, I think its my posture in my chair and my chair. I am going to talk to my boss about ordering me a new chair. I am considering doing a pilates course, but its expensive.
Other than that I am hoping that everyone is having decent weather, though I see Melissa is due for some snow. Yikes. I'm going to try and get out and walk a bit at lunch.

It's a beautiful day here in Florida--70's. I'm on my second OP day. I just came from a staff meeting where they served chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and I passed it up (I heart chocolate cake-sigh). I've just got to get this weight off. I am disgusted with myself.
I got a call last night from a local director and she wants me to be in a play called "The Dining Room." I wasn't very familiar with it, but I Googled it and it sounds very interesting and challenging. I told her I would do it.
lala, I hear that Pilates is really good. I'm surprised it's expensive. Here I don't think it costs any more than an aerobics class. It's possible that you need a new chair. We spend so much time in the dumb things at work.

Private lessons to start are about 60-100 bucks. Mat classes are more like yoga classes in price.
I figure I'll make an initial investment of 600 bucks and see what we get from there.
Nice job getting a part in another play.
Did you study theater in college?

lala, no I did not study theater in college; it's just my hobby. I took private lessons once just here locally. In college I studied foreign languages and then got an MBA.

Good afternoon ladies! It's been busy here and it's not going to get any better in the near future--it's a little overwhelming. Anyway, the weather here is beginning to turn. This morning we had a light rain and as I look out my office window the fog is rolling in which means the temps are dropping. Snow is in the forecast...
Lala: Good luck in getting a new chair, I know I need to get up and move around throughout the day so my back doesn't get stiff. I have a fun read waiting for when I head to Chicago next weekend. If I get really bored I may start it and get another book for the trip. I love to lose myself in books.
Lisa: Your weather sounds fantastic--and congrats on OP day 2!!! Keep up the great work! I'm really trying to stay on track but it's been a little rough. I have been keeping track of everything.
Pam: I hope you had a great walk the other day! I did get out on Monday for a walk but there were some sidewalks that still had snow on them that people hadn't cleared...geesh! Anyway, we're supposed to get snow tomorrow/Thursday.
Well I need to get some things finished up here before I leave for the day--have a great evening!

Melissa we're scheduled for snow tomorrow night and Thursday also and looks like we could get up to 24 inches!!! Yikes...payback for all the warm weather we were having this month. I did get a nice walk in yesterday and today. I think my exercise for the remainder of the week may be shoveling snow.
Lisa good for you for passing on the chocolate cake. We had some great looking chocolate fudge in the office today and I only had one small piece. I'm trying to be good this week also. When does "The Dining Room" begin?
Lala I'm reading "The Birth of Venus" with my bookclub. It's really an interesting read. In fact I stayed up much too late last night with it. Glad you are having a nice visit with your Mom.
Well time to give my sister a call...she and I are having a 70th b-day party for our Dad on Sunday and there are still many last minute things that must be taken care of. Talk to you later.

Another pretty day here; should turn by the weekend (of course). I'm so busy this week with rehearsals at night. This weekend will be a challenge with shows on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Melissa and Pam, sorry to hear your weather is changing. That darn groundhog took care of it!
Pam, what is the storyline of Birth of Venus? The Dining Room will be staged in April (3 weekends). We're still looking for 1 more male. He must be versatile. The birthday party should be fun. My father turned 70 last year.

Birth of Venus sounds good.
Our next book is "waxwings" by Jonathan Raban.
They are an intellectual bunch these ladies.
I'll be back, must get going on a work project...

Hi Ladies,
Well as luck would have it we missed a big snow storm today and are only getting rain. DD was very upset since she and her friends were planning on a snow day. Trying to get things in order at the office before I begin my time off on the 21st. If all goes well with Lauren, I should be back to work around the 14th of March.
Lisa The Birth of Venus was a very good book. I stayed up until 11:30 last night finishing it. It's the story of a young girl growing up in Florence in the 14th century. She was a talented artist in a time where young women were suppose to stay home and wait for their parents to arrange a marriage. It had a very interesting ending...I would highly reccommend reading it.
Lala how is your project coming along. Is your Mom still visiting with you?
Hi to Melissa and Susan, hope you are both well. Talk to you later.

Hi everyone. I'm at home today as Jacques looks like he's starting a bladder infection. I took him to the vet and they started him on antibiotics as a precaution. I can work from home and its a good thing.
Its sunny and not warm and as soon as I finish one thing I'm going to get up and get the bird feeder full, they look hungry. I think there is a hawk in the 'hood though, because there is a mysterious clump of nasty pigeon feathers in my front lawn, with no pigeon. Maybe on second thought, I'll rethink making those little finches hawk grub..
Pam - the book sounds great and I'm glad that you are able to take off enough time to get Lauren healed and back to her mischevious ways. If she's really lucky, their will be another snowstorm in March to get a bonafide snow day.
Mom went home yesterday and I have leftovers to retrieve from her fridge. I'm still plugging away at the stuff I'm supposed to be working on, but frankly, I'm not a programmer and I"m going to need help. As for everything else, I have to review a proposal on mapping paris that should be interesting..
Lisa -- maybe we should do a bookclub here? We could all read the same book and then have a discussion, sort of like a digital coffee klatsch. I will promise to post the recipe for protein bars, but the last time I tried it urped.
Hi to Melissa! Hope all is okay your way.
Susan, if you are checking in, we are hoping things are dandy with you. Have some yummy thai food for me.
