Default My Vent

As I said in the daily chat my sister called me last night (about 9:30). I happen to work in the insurance agency that she has her auto/house insurance with. We FINALLY got their house insurance not even a month ago, and they're FINALLY able to get into a non-risk company (well, they could have last year but there wasn't anything cheaper. They were with Progressive which has risk and non-risk). So what happens? My BIL has to get picked up for DWI (driving while intoxicated). Is this his first time you ask? HECK NO!!! It's like his 4th I believe. His last one I think was like 7 years ago. So even though I KNEW he drives while drinking yet do I leave them where they're at? Nope. STUPID!! So what am I ticked at? Because the BIL is such an . My sister who is like one of the strongest people I know was CRYING on the phone last night as she was driving to pick the up!! So now today I have to figure out how to get their insurance straightened up so he can get his occupational so he can drive to work. I'm also trying to figure out how long she'll put up with it this time. I'm too blunt to pick decent words, but I basically told her that I support her decision if she decides to shove the out the door if that makes her happy. She said she had to sit down and try and figure out if she could financially go it alone (well, her and the 2 kids. Oldest son is 16? 17? and daughter is 14). Told her that if she ever needed anything to let me know (which she won't--cuz that's just the way we are in this family). And that if she wanted to get out now she could move into this house (which thrilled DH of course ) until she got on her feet.
I don't get it. The guy is 40 (maybe 41), wouldn't you think he'd have learned after say the SECOND one?? DH used to chum around with the BIL. And of course they'd go to do something (like get fireworks or some errand) and my sis and I would have to go drag their rears out of the bar at 1:00 am. Only to have them wonder why we're ticked. IDIOTS. I told DH that if he had stayed hanging w/him we wouldn't be married yet. And that I was glad that he got smart on his own w/that decision (We had a long talk last night after I got off the phone). He doesn't even drink because now he's doing Atkins
This absolutely sucks!!!!

What a schmuck !! He's 40 something right? I doubt he'll ever learn.
We have a few of them in my family too, so I know how you feel. There's probably nothing you can do but sit and watch until the next time he screws up. Sad but true.

Hang in there Brenda.

Thanks everyone. Talked to sis. She told me the story. At least parts she knows. Her DH went w/2 friends to a storage shed. One said "hey, let's stop at the bar and I'll buy ya one." Sis' DH had FOUR beers, one of the guys got too roudy. the bartender called the cops and the guys left. BUT, the cop was waiting for them and pulled them over. On what charges? DWI. But WHY'D he get pulled over (suspicion of what?) he doesn't know. He thinks that the cops had his license number, ran them and found out where he lived, figured which way he had to go to get home and sat and waited for him to drive. So what does my sis have to say about this? She's PO'd,,,,,but "he only had four beers, for him that's not drunk." jeez!!!! That's LEGALLY drunk, isn't THAT enough? They're thinking about fighting it because of "entrapment" or something. Cuz the cop seemed to be waiting for him and had no reason to pull him over. So looks like the "D" is off again.

Don't ya just love the drama in my life? I could have started this way back when w/the oldest sister....and the affair she had....and the BIL that is building her a house with the delusion that they're BOTH going to be living there. If they do I'll drop over dead!!! Then there's the other sister. Her poor kids!!! She expects them to get straight A's ("EVERYONE can get A's if they try.") and her DH? What a mess he is!! Those are all long stories
