Default Fabulous 40's And Fit 50's! #157

I hope nobody minded that I started a new thread. #156 was 6 pages long.

Donna - I read your first post when I got the email notification. It definately was "worthy". Feel free to PM me if you want to chit chat!

Es - That's nice of your group!! Enjoy!

Well I'm running today. First I need to go for my allergy shots then it's off for a haircut. I'm beginning to look like a "Beatle" Then once that is all done I have the wonderful task of laundry awaiting me! Oh a woman's work is never done.......

A big hi to Dianne, Teri, Jen and Sandy!!! I'll see you all later on this afternoon.

Happy Hump day everyone:

Donna - I got to read your post too and I'm sorry you're having so many problems right now. Please don't ever feel like your posts are unworthy - we are definitely here to support each other. Unfortunately, since you deleted the post so quickly, now that I'm responding I usually re-read the posts, so I can't remember everything you said. Anyway, I just hope things get better for you quickly.

Jen - congrats on your 1st paycheck you should buy yourself something you wouldn't normally buy - just this once at least - to celebrate. So cool of Joe re: the margaritas, etc. He's a sweety from St. Petey (don't ask, its just a wacky saying I have - but its a good thing )

Es, amiga - how are you doing - do you still have swelling? When is your next drs appt? Glad you enjoyed Jonathan's baptism. And congrats on getting back to curves I know you missed it! Have fun at your luncheon. All the exec. assts. here received flowers today - it was cool.

Linda - Happy laundry to ya You're right a woman's work is never done!
Hope your hair cut turns out well - I laughed about looking like a beatle - with me, my kids usually say "mom, time to get a haircut - you're starting to get an afro"

Hi to Terri, Sandy, Ruthie, ZoeGirl and Janie. Hope you are all doing well.

Willie's playing tonight with the big band, at the Nassau Community College, once a year gig. It's gonna be a lonnnnnnnnnnnng day for me, But I always enjoy it.

Talk to you's later.

Hugs,
Dianne

Amiga, you are busy these days! You go Girl. As long as you're having fun, that's what counts. The swelling is gone. I have one more appt. on my birthday. I have to see a rheumatologist. I was thinking on canceling but Pete said I should keep it. I decided to take his advice. But I'm feeling great. Funny about the afro.

Linda, hope your haircut comes out the way you want. I always have to tell my beautician not to cut too much. I'm thinking of getting a new do.

My boss & the 2 attorney's I work for took me out to lunch & we had such a good time. I got roses, a gift certificate for the nail salon & they even threw in a gift certificate for blockbuster. I thought that was so nice. They know I rent movies every weekend. Tomorrow another atty is taking me & another secretary out for lunch. Diet? What diet? Geezzz!

Hi Terri, Jen, Sandy, Donna & Ruth

Hasta manana
Es

Evening all....the hair is just perfect! I have dead straight hair. Back in the 60's girls were ironing their hair to get it like mine. Me...I spent fortunes with perms to get the curls and waves that they wanted out! But over the years, all the chemicals started to take it's toll on my hair and it started to split so I found this really great woman who has been cutting my friends hair for 30 years. And now she's been cutting mine for about 4. I keep it very short now, no curls what so ever. Actually Jamie Lee Curtis was my inspiration for hair and then we (Denise and I) tweeked it this way and that way and now it's my way! One of these days I'll see if DH can post a pic of me and my short straight hair.

Es - Glad you had a good time! And gifts too!! You lucky thing you!

Dianne - Do you have curly hair? Have a good time tonight out at the College! Me, I'm pooped from all the running and cleaning today. It's gona be me and a good book in the bed early!

Well ladies time to go and do dishes....Hi to Terri, Jen, Donna and Sandy and all the others I don't know yet!

Es,
I'm so glad your swelling is gone...but Pete's right... DON'T cancel the appt. with the specialist! What a nice day you had..and another to come...enjoy! (don't sweat the diet, enjoy YOUR special day) Don't you love gift cards? I've got a few in my wallet, whenever I feel I need a pick-me-up, I use one....Bath & Body, etc.

Linda,
Thanks for starting the new thread I also have very straight hair...from when I was 15 until I was in my late 20's, I had the "Marcia Brady" hairstyle...then went thru the awful perms in the 80's until I finally reached the point I'm at now....a short cut, then I dry and spray it and I'm finished. I look like a Beatle also when I'm due for a cut, so I know exactly where you're coming from ! Actually, I always say I look like Moe from the 3 Stooges, but I like the Beatles reference more!

Dianne,
I read with interest your reference to "breaking night" and Es also used it! I've never heard that, what a perfect saying. Another one of those regional phrases. Sweetey from St. Petey I heard before...from you I think
Have fun at Willie's performance!

Remember my niece who passed away in December? Her husband, John, is a U. S. Marshall. I just heard that he had America's Most Wanted following him for a week with cameras, and it's going to air on May 8th. I'm going to throw a tape in the vcr in the event it does. I've never watched that program, but hope they show him....and that he's shown catching someone!

When I went in to work this morning, the Director of Finance was putting out a huge spread of Panera stuff, bagels, cream cheese, along with coffee cakes, etc., and passed Godiva chocolates to all the employees with a note saying how much they appreciate all our work....and Happy Employee Appreciation Day. It was so nice of them. It seems they put food out at the drop of a hat yet they're all thin. I was good, passed up all the food and haven't had a chocolate....yet!

Donna, hope everything is good with you. Sandy, HI, I'm thinking of you. Terri, What's up?

later,
~Jen

Hi guys:

Just got back from the concert - it was fun. I also wanted to let you know that I heard from Zoe - she's fine - just really busy at work. Lots of changes going on and by the time she gets home, she's pooped. She's leaving on a cruise a week from this sunday - to celebrate her and Greg's 25th anniversary. She said she'll come back to us after she gets back (May 12). Isn't that ? I'm really glad she's gonna come back.

Jen - the "breaking night" saying in my experience comes from the spanish translation "rompiendo noche" and "hasta la madruga" (until the break of day). That's probably why Es and Linda (since she's married to a puerto rican) also use the term. Congrats on passing up on the goodies and chocolate at work I myself was not so lucky (or smart ) - one of my co-workers received godiva chocolate and I couldn't pass up a dark chocolate piece. I loooooooooooooovvvvvvvveeeee dark chocolate! But, I only had one so that's not too bad. So cool about your niece's husband being on America's most wanted - I will watch it - what does he look like? And is he from Chicago too?

Linda - my hair is not curly and not straight - its that in-between "wavy" stuff. I used to (as a teen) use curl free to straighten it. Now I just keep it short.

Es - sounds like you had a great day and more to come - I'm glad you enjoyed. I'm really glad to hear the swelling is down but I think you should definitely keep your appointment with the doctor. Have fun tomorrow.

Well, I'm off to bed. Really wanted to drop in to tell you all about ZoeGirl. Hi to Terri, Ruthie, Donna, Sandy and Janie. Talk to you's tomorrow. Nite-nite!

Hugs,
Dianne

Dianne,
Glad to hear Zoe's ok and you heard from her.
Dark chocolate is the BEST!!!!
My niece's husband is in his late 30's, slim, short light brown hair, name is John O'Malley. He's based out of the Marshall's Chicago office downtown in the Dirksen Federal building.

~Jen

Hi Girls

I'm so happy to hear Zoe is okay. I was really worried about her. Hope she comes back.

I LOVE dark chocolate! Never had Godiva dark chocolate. Maybe it's better that I never had it cause I'll get hooked.

Jen, "breaking night", we used that phrase alot back in the day. I know I can't do that anymore. How are you feeling? Cool, about your niece's husband. I'll write that date down so I can tape it. How is he doing?

Dianne, you know so much spanish. When I first met you(here) I swore you were boricua(sp?). You know more spanish than me.

I got more gifts today. More roses & a gift certicate for Dave & Buster's restaurant. They spoil me rotten. Lunch was delicious. We went to a mexican restaurant called Maria's. I had a chicken sandwich. Whatever sauce they use I know it's way up there in calories cause it tasted too good. I had fried potatoes, thin sliced. After my birthday I'll get back on track. The next few days we'll be eating out. Saturday we're going out to celebrate the BIG 50. My birthday is not till Monday but I'd rather go out to eat on Saturday so my sister & David can go. Sunday we're having birthday cake at David's. So, forgetaboutit. I'll start dieting on Monday.

Terri, we haven't heard much from you lately. Is everything ok?

Let me go to the WW's site. Oh, and I'm going back tomorrow. I told them 2 weeks ago I was going back. I think I could, I think I could, I think I could!

Till tomorrow

Hugs
Es

Hi

Woohoo Linda, I didn't know you were going to meetings. That's a good loss. Thanks for the birthday wish. Where did the years go. I don't feel 50. I feel more like 30. That's a good thing right?

I'll be back later. I have an appt. at 9:30 for a nail fill-in.

Hasta luego mi amigas.

Love,
Essie

Hi everyone.
I have been so busy. School is out in 1 month and in that month I have 2 band concerts, 1 chior concert, 5th grade musical (with about 10 rehearsals to go), 2 field trips, a women's fair in the 7th grade, 6 out of town visitors and HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. Also we are having about 20 things fixed on our house including all the brick replaced.
One thing I'll get out of it is a new deck. I am pulling my hair out. Too much! But I will enjoy. I got a new dishwasher yesterday. It is so nice. Next is a new stove. We have to order it cause it is a drop in.

Jen,
Yes, Brandon is so into the guitar. he is having a sleepover tomorrow and I got a guitar on his cake. We will get him private lessons. He loves it. He sounds good without even knowing how to play. That is cool that Joey has a collection.
Your Joe is special. That was sweet to have drinks in the yard. Congrats on your paycheck.
It is so cool that bosses do these things to show they appreciate their workers. I am going to try to watch that episode. What network is it on? That is to cool. How are their little girls?

Linda,
Thanks for the b-day wish. He is getting soooo big.
Brandon was so excited with his guitar. He didn't think he was getting one cause I had the picks wrapped up with a scavenger hunt note in it. When I handed him the little package and said this is your last gift he said Thank you and that it was a great birthday. He never pouted or anything but boy did his face light up when he saw what it was. He had to read about 6 hint notes to find it. I got a picture of his face when he found it. It was so cool.
I am so glad you are OK with your new hours.

Es,
17#. Wonderful girl. The Christening sounded like it was beautiful. AWWW! Your nephew is lucky to have you.
I have been to that Dave & Busters quite a few times. Great place for the kids. Lots of games. Hope you had a good time.
Happy birthday in advance. I feel like a just wished you a Happy Birthday last month. I hope you have a wonderful time Saturday night. You deserve it. I am so glad the swelling went down. Keep that appointment.

Dianne,
Sounds like a wonderful night. Oh the fun you must have had.

Donna,
I can imagine how hard Mothers Day is for you. We are here for you to talk. Your posts are all WORTHY.

For my breakfast I have either Oatmeal or a 3 egg white omelet with onions, mushrooms and teriaky sauce and cheese. I eat no more than 3 points for breakfast unless I have skim milk. For lunch I have about 5 points, usually a spinach salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, tuna or ham and lite string cheese and 5 croutons. I use the Just 2 good Italian dressing. It is the only low fat dressing I like. Sometimes I have soup and crackers. My favorites are the Campbells wedding soup or the Healthy Choice clam chowder.
For dinner I usually have teriaki vegetables (frozen) and either a thigh sauteed with onions and mushrooms. Sometimes I have a frozen lean cuisine or Smart One.
Michaleans light dinners now have points on the front of the box. They are good. I usually use 6-8 points for dinner.
For snacks I eat oranges, lite yogurt, Smart Ones ice cream or the dessert bars. The snacks are about 5 points
for the day.
I'll try to catch up every day. Glad to hear Zoe is OK.
Luv you guys,
Terri

Donna,
I'm sorry things have been rough lately. Your feelings about Mother's Day make perfect sense. You must miss your Mom terribly. I still do, tho she's been gone since 1981. I feel like I missed out on so many years with her.
You're in my thoughts.

Terri,
What a busy time for you! Your house will be all new, huh? very cool
I don't even know what network America's Most Wanted is on, I'll have to find out. He and the girls are okay, he took them to the Bahamas for Easter vacation. They've travelled alot, so it's normal for him to take them like that. As his sister said, it's "raw" when you go into their house. I can understand that, it seems a good description.

Linda,
great loss! you're doing a good job on your own.

Es,
Turning 50 was not quite as bad as I had feared, it really is only a number. Like you I don't feel it....I feel like time stopped for me in my late 30's....I'll be like Jack Benny, always 39

have a great weekend everyone!

Jen, I remember when Oprah turned 50 she was so positive. I should have taped that show. Now that you're working your weekends probably go by fast huh. Are you working full-time?

I have alot to do today so I have to make this short. I'll be back tonight.

Hi Terri, Dianne, Donna, Sandy, Janie, Ruth & Zoe.

Have a nice day my friends.

Hugs,
Es
