Default Convention Hotel choices

Hi all! Well, I have found us a couple places to stay!!

Please let me say up front that I had planned on doing a walk through of both of these hotels 1st, but we need to get it booked and a hotel friend of mine said they were fine.

Please vote if you are planning on coming to the convention. I have the current list of attendees as...

AmyJ
Shiela53 - confirmed still coming - sharing with DH
Shiela's DH - confirmed still coming - sharing with Shiela
boiaby - confirmed still coming
SAPF - confirmed still coming
Daners
mulledk
rochemist - confirmed still coming
jiffypop - confirmed still coming - single
Jennelle
slimdown - confirmed still coming - sharing with Jacobsmommy
gonzostar - confirmed still coming
JacobsMommy - confirmed still coming - sharing with slimdown
Jillegal - confirmed still coming
Slimmingsi - Doesn't think he can come
Suzanne 3FC - Going to try!!
matt_H - confirmed still coming

I would like confirmation of your attendance or non attendance sent to me (via PM) and anyone else who now plans on coming, please PM me too. I really need to know how many rooms to block.

The way it will work is that once I block the rooms, you will call and book the rooms yourself with your credit card. We will have a cut-off date to make the reservations. The rates are based on double occupancy. I'll have to check & see how we book with the double occupancy. I said that some of us would be checking in on the 25th, others on the 26th. I will be there on the 25th. Early as needed so no one is alone in the city!!!

There is a city-wide convention in town as well as the taste of Chicago that weekend. The two hotels I found that would suite us best are the...

Holiday Inn City Centre (Navy Pier) - 159.00 - www.chicc.com *Also has outdoor pool on 5th floor
Raphael Hotel - Room Rate - 169.00 - www.raphaelchicago.com

Please check them out and vote.

Personally, I am voting for the Holiday Inn. It has a great location and better price!

I am closing the poll after 5 days. I need to get these reservations made very soon.

ok. i voted for the raphael... but i'd also be happy at the holiday inn. especialy because the holiday inn has the pool and the raphael does not.

but the raphael looks like my kind of cozy hotel... with good service [yes, that's the princess in me talking!!!!] but frankly, i'd be fine anywhere that i can get tea!!!!!!

Well, I really wanted to go and I was just starting to plot ways to talk my sister into taking me (I'm nearly positive she would, too!) but unfortunately I'll be travelling to Spain at/around the same time through a school Spanish program!. (I'm SO hyped about Spain though!!!!! I CANNOT WAIT)
So, you'll all just have to wait until my road trip (after I graduate from HS I plan to take a trip around the country with a friend or two.) to meet my beautiful face. Sorry ya'll! I'll send a postcard from Madrid! *swoons* -Apryl

Hey, why am I not on the list I know I e-mailed somebody with my home phone number and other personal info. (hmmm, maybe that explains why I'm getting all these strange calls late at night ) All kidding aside, I fully plan on attending and either of these hotels sound great!

Pool? Did someone say Pool? You DO NOT want to attempt swimming in Lake Michigan.

Decisions, decisions....

jill, that was me! i have your info, i just hadnt posted an updated list so sandi could see. hmm. let me check if i have anyone else missing...

add slimmingsi, howie, and gardenwife to that list, too!

you know, this is a lower turnout that i had thought. i know lots of people can't afford it, but we have a HUGE group! any more takers?? this should be REALLY REALLY fun!

i, too, will be there on the 25th. as for double rooms... maybe it would be fun if sandi and i just randomly placed people? i'd also be willing to have 3 or 4 to a room, they are king sized beds, right?

Okay Holly, thanks for adding me to the list. Now I can get to sleep

Howie posted in the "sticky" that he and his gardenwife won't be able to make it seeing as they have another vacation already planned.

Hey I am willing to bunk up if its more economical for folks.

Warning though I have zero modesty, take the fat girl as she is!

please don't be offended if i stay as a single... it's nothing personal.. just my preference... although if someone needs a roomie and wouldn't be able to join us otherwise, that would be fine...

I don't think they have 2 kings. Usually it's 2 doubles.

Also, I still need to hear from quite a few people to confirm attendance! Thanks!!

I'll share a room, but have to have a bed to myself (I sleep in the jumping jacks position)

I'm going to try! I'm looking into all the details now. If Jennifer comes, we'll share a room. Otherwise, I'm a single, too

Sounds like fun!
