Thumbs up Today is Day One

I am so tired of feeling terrible.
This past weekend was the best weather we have had this entire summer. My husband went out on our boat with friends. I was stuck in bed in terrible pain from a bulging disc in my lower back. Probably 99.9% attributable to being overweight. I have been laid up for almost 5 days. On all kinds of pain medication and in excruciating pain. It is so depressing to miss out on the fun things in life. I am done.
Today starts a new page.
I am still moving slow. I will start physical therapy in about a week. But until then, I am going to move more and eat better. Little steps.
I CAN DO THIS!

Welcome! I am a fellow back pain sufferer. PT sounds like a great idea, as does weight loss. One thing that has been incredibly effective for me is acupuncture- it got me off the pain meds and keeps my back pretty stable in between my once-monthly sessions. Just a thought. I wish you the best of luck on your health and weight loss goals!

Sympathy for both the physical and emotional pain, and it's great to hear your commitment to addressing them both!

PT will hopefully help with the bulging disk, and your lifestyle changes are a solid step to being able to join in the activities you want to do.

You mentioned moving more and eating better -- where are you starting from?
