Default How many calories do you eat to lose weight?

A few years ago I lost weight eating 1500 calories and working out 5 days a week. I was in my early 20's then.

I tried that recently and it did not work, despite having more muscle

So now I'm eating 1000 calories and dropping weight but I was wondering how many calories you all are eating.

To lose- 900 calories.

And that's why you don't see me losing weight because doing this is not worth it. I'd rather stay 120 lbs.

I eat 1500 to maintain.

I panicked when I started to gain weight due to hormone issues and dropped my calories to 700-850...it didn't really help and I was starving.

Now I am eating between 1000-1150 (I try and stay under 1200), and I am just sticking to low sugar, protein and veggies. It is a very slow loss, and dependent on exercise it seems, but as long as it is trending downward, I am happy.

I aim for 1200, but I'm usually around 1200-1500...the closer to 1200, the more I lose (no surprise there). My hormones are my biggest challenge with caloric intake, because once I'm a few days away from my period, I start eating like a ravenous beast and don't stop until a few days after my period begins. I try not to go over 2,000 calories a day at that time, and sometimes I succeed, but other times I fail.

I eat between 1000 and 1200 but at that level I would be logging on cron-o-meter which is a free app that tracks your micronutrients to make sure you are meeting nutritional requirements; that is what I do.

FYI people- if you lift really heavy weights, eat the same, you will gain weight. Same 1500 calories, five pounds later.

Have you been measuring body fat? how has that changed? Im fine with gaining weight if its muscle.

I don't have much fat on me, but I still can't mentally handle the weight.

Depends on the Body type and a lot more factors than that. I was eating 2200 calories a day, weighed around 175 and lifting very heavy weights but definitely the leanest of my life.
I am pretty tall though. Muscle weights more than fat but because of how tight it is it can make you look much smaller.

Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat (a pound is a pound) its just denser which is why you can look smaller at the same weight if you replace the fat with muscle.

Reminds me of the teacher at school...what is heavier a tonne of feathers or a tonne of lead!

I'm trying to eat 1200 a day....trying...except the chocolate sabotages my target now and again!

1100 calories or less. Funny that the experts tell us we shouldn't eat under 1200 on any diet. Loos like most of the people here don't follow this "rule"
