Hi everybody. HAPPY NEW YEAR! I am still experimenting with my approach and this weight loss. I hit a big plateau around the summer and have been pretty stagnant so am trying something new. I am working on alternate day fasting where I only drink water and unsweetened tea until dinner time. I am also trying to figure out how to go into ketosis without joining the Adkin's diet so I am messing around with my macronutrients and there is a lot of trial and error. We'll see if I can get out of the 230s this month. Let's make 2017 AMAZING in our life journey!

Kiwi, I would like to join in with daily weight-in. I admire your plan, fasting sounds like something I couldn't do, but who knows, maybe I will get there sometimes along the way!

GW: 107 Update: As I see I can't reach 107 this month, I'm now aiming for 108 instead.

So the fasting is still a work in progress. I am trying to not beat myself up when I fail. The fast was broken today by around 4 with 2 slices of cinnamon raisin toast with butter
I'm trying to get back on the wagon. I did really well through September and the first part of October. Then I slipped up. Halloween, Thanksgiving, a Caribbean vacation and Christmas destroyed any progress I had made. I'm at the highest weight I've ever been. Ugh! I'm going back to the basics - 1500 calories a day, a 30 minute workout daily and lots of water.

1. MY 33rd BIRTHDAY!! - Friends were too hung over to celebrate so I stayed home and ate cake by myself. New Year's birthdays are the worst (although I hear Christmas b-days are also pretty bad).

If you have to break your fast, try to do it with a low calorie item like fruit or soup
This begins year 4 of my supposed 2-year weight loss journey, and I'm tired of feeling bitter about how long it's been taking. I need to spend more time enjoying the fact that I am the lightest and fittest I've ever been in my life and less time stressing about the weight I should have lost by now. I've accepted that I may or may not hit my goal weight this year either, but I still aim to reach and maintain around 130 as soon as I can.
In November I noticed that cutting meat down to 1 or 2 servings per day helped with my weight loss, but I never quite made it a habit. I'm going to try to get back on track with that this month.

2.4 lb gain. I dipped back into the 150s just like last month with even worse recovery. Lately I've been looking for a new job and I need a new car, or any car that runs, and I wonder how much the stress has affected my efforts. I especially hate waiting in the dark after an interview and don't even get a courtesy "you were not hired" notification. It makes me anxious. Although, if patterns mean anything I won't see another loss until March. I'm having that post-TOM weight gain problem I had a lot last year and I wish I knew the biological reasons behind the inconsistency.
kiwi1222, good luck with fasting and ketosis. I attempted keto for a month when my weight loss first started slowing down, and it helped. I couldn't keep it up, but it was the most weight I'd ever lost in a month.
AllyG47, Happy Belated Birthday
It's great that you're getting back on the wagon. Holidays and vacations can set us back but don't have to destroy our progress. If your weight loss strategy can lead to slip ups that undo your progress, then maybe you could try adjusting your plan to something that is more sustainable for you in the long term. That way holidays and vacations won't have as much of a negative impact on your efforts.
Hi ladies! I'd like to join as well.
I'm returning because apparently weight loss coincides with increased likelihood of getting pregnant. These forums gave me a lot of motivation last time so I'm back!
SW: 206
CW:206
Goal: 202
I'm probably not going to weigh myself every day, I've been working a lot of overtime and it's just not realistic. My goal this month is to drink 8 glasses of water a day and have at least 3 veggies daily. (I start slow). Good luck to everyone!
1/2: 206
1/6: 202.6. I didn't think I'd have such a good week. Work has been super busy and I walked 9 miles one day. I'm sure a lot of its water weight as I stopped the soda and greatly reduced my caffeine intake.
1/10:200.6
1/20:199.8 I've had a terrible flu thing this week so I expect a bounce back. Right now I just don't want to feel like death.
For those struggling, if you don't stick out through the plateau you will never get past it. When I lost the weight the first time, sometimes I wouldn't lose anything for a month, but eventually it goes away. Hang in there guys!
1/31: 200.8
Good month, let's get ready for February!

That still sounds alright to me, as it is by far much less food than I would normaly have eaten by 4!
I looked into intermittent fasting a couple of years back and it looked reasonable to me. I have just been either pregnant or breastfeeding for last 5 years so haven't had a chance to try it. I'm usually starrving within three minutes of waking up
HAHA. Yes, when baby's make your body a factory for their own uses, it makes it tough to experiment with dietary changes/fasting.
It is much easier to fast on Wednesdays when I am at work because I pack nothing in my lunch bag but water and I work in a fairly expensive area and hate the fact that you can easily spend $10 on lunch around here or $5 on a snack so the temptation to by food while Im at work is diminished bc I am cheap AF. Also I am pretty busy on my feet running around constantly until my workday is over. Sunday fast days are much tougher because I still keep myself busy but there is still so much more opportunity for me to put something in my mouth. Wednedays I don't break my fast until about 8PM and I am still trying to get to 8PM on Sunday's. Its getting closer
nickilaughs welcome on board! Slow start sounds like a good plan to me. You are so right about weightloss and pregnancies Unfortunately, my last pregnancy left me good 30 pounds heavier than I ever was before. Argh! So, I'm back at it and I hope to reach my original, pre-twins, pre-second twins, pre-fifth baby weight by my birthday in June

AllyG47 don't be discouraged! Fluctuances in water weight may daily weigh-in a mindgame sometimes but you need to look at the bigger picture. Follow your weight loss week from week or month from month, not day from a day because there will always be unexpected changes in weight. It's (at least for me) good to weight in daily as it makes me more accountable, but you mustn't get all stressed out if you with no reason gain a pound or two.
